Congratulations Kara on a new season on the AT! It will be fun meeting all the new hikers! One family of 6 I'm following will be coming along. Super well prepared!
So thankful for what you do. I’m on the west coast and love our rangers. Sometime, when put on the spot while getting a permit I’ll get asked how far i should camp from the trail, from water, dig a cat hole, etc. though I know the reasons and adhere, sometimes I forget and blurt out 100 yards for each or something because I forget the actual distance number rules.
Hey Miss Kara! Awesome q and a session!! Congrats on being a rr again this year! You do a wonderful job! Thanks for all your videos! Stay safe and god bless
I am so proud of Kara. Thare is a huge need for ridge runners in GA due to some peoples lack of experience. You're going to put your LNT skills to use. Hopefully, there won't be too many surface poopers. I came across one big poop log in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I also took a friend from Texas to Amacolia. He is a very experienced backpacker. I watched other people struggle at the meeting to get their AT tag. This guy had a huge canvas ruck sack with stuff hanging off his pack. It looked like tackle boxes. The Amacolia ranger was trying to give him a pack shack down and it was hard to make progress with so much stuff. My friend Ron , who is an AT shuttle Driver also said people will just give up and throw their gear into the woods and walk away. I hope you have a good experience. I know you miss your Wayside meals. Again, so proud of you for following your dreams.
This is awesome news. Congrats. I’m watching to hike the AT one day. I don’t mind when you post. I find the videos entertaining and informative. Be safe! Stay warm.
I've really enjoyed your ridge runner (behind the scenes) videos. Will be eager to see the rest of the Shenandoah ones but also looking forward to seeing how things go on the GA section.
Hi Kara. Im so glad you are continuing your R.R.career.Ireally like these videos. Do you get new saws or do you resharpen yours. Keeping them sharp is important. Sharpening them is fairly easy. Peace
Congrats on continuing ridge running! I’m new to your channel and have enjoyed your videos, helpful info and tips, and great scenery. I’m glad that there’s going to be more, even if it means waiting post-season to see new content. Since I’ll be on trail anyhow, watching stuff that gets posted later will work just fine for my video consumption needs. Stay safe out there and thank you!
Awesome job Kara! Glad to see you and your dog are so happy. So delighted you will be ridge running again. I really enjoyed your Shenandoah series. I know I am not the only one who hopes you are able to edit the remainder of them. Blessings on your next assignment.
Congratulations on the GA RR position! I hope to see you on the trail, I live about 20 miles from Amicalola State Park, and will be on some practice hikes for next year.
Congratulations on your upcoming position!! Your editing skills really shine through on this new series of videos and I enjoy them so much…thank you! Congratulations also for having conquered your fear of nighttime hiking👏👏👏
Great video, as usual! You're so fun and REAL! Don't feel pressured to entertain others on a regular basis. Enjoy Georgia. I've done the AT through the state four times (four different trips for different reasons). I loved everything except for full campsites and full privies 😁. I guess that I won't be bumping into you at Trail Days this year. Say hi to Brant at Mountain Crossings and Hawk and Katie, if they are around (they're building their home in Monson, Maine, so their free time might be limited). Take care, and God bless you!
We enjoy your videos and look forward to following your adventures further south in Georgia. We've learned a lot from your trail running experiences and enjoy knowing more about the important roles trail runners play. We perform volunteer trail patrol with similar duties for a nearby state park.
This update was so fantastic. The one question I thought about was your dog. Why can't she be with you on trail? I'm so excited to see you back on trail as a GA ridgerunner for 2025. I love that each year you're in a different section. Well.done. thanks for the great update.
Congrats on your Ridge Runner job in Georgia! I hope you love it. 4 days on and 3 days off sounds better to me. I live about 1.5 hrs from Chattanooga, and I was cold on my daily walk today as well. I usually work up a sweat, but not today. You and pup stay warm!
If you intend to hike thru SNP(this also applies to folks section hiking the park) you must have a backcountry permit www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/backcountry-regulations.htm
Hey there! They are doing well, my dad does hike with me some but is busy with my niece and nephew (they have gotten more into sports and he’s very supportive). My mom has had shingles for the past year but we are hoping she feels much better soon! Thanks for asking and thanks for watching 💛
Great news Kara! Looking forward to seeing your journey this year. I’ll be praying for you.

Thank you! Maybe I'll see you on trail sometime this year! 🙏🏼 (I used to live in Gainesville!)
@ I’m in DAWSONVILLE near the outlet mall!
Congratulations on your new adventure. Would you ever consider doing a similar adventure at Baxter State Park in Maine???
Thank you so much! Honestly, I've never thought about it but I LOVE Baxter! I wonder if they have Ridgerunners....

Congratulations! Bear and I hope to see you next month. 💙
Thank you so much! I really hope I see you guys on trail. I have an idea of where I'll be when, so I'll send you a message! 💛
Hi Kara!
Good for you for working again as a RR , you're a natural! ❤ looking forward to your next adventures on the AT!
Thanks so much, Becky! Hope you get to get out on trail in 2025!
My guess on the growth is that you are not reviewing a hike or gear (my addiction) but something new, a day in the life of a ridge runner.
That’s a really good point! I have a gear obsession too and watch a lot of videos on it 🤣 but for some reason never make gear review videos!
Hope to see you this spring. Finishing up the few miles i have left in Georgia.
So cool! Hope to see you out there! 💛
Happy Trails to you 🥾
We enjoy your videos and look forward to following your adventures further south in Georgia. We've learned a lot from your trail running experiences and enjoy knowing more about the important roles trail runners play. We perform volunteer trail patrol with similar duties for a nearby state park.
That is so cool that you volunteer for trail patrol! Thank you for everything you do for our trails! 🙏🏼 Appreciate you watching! 💛
Congrats on being a rr in Georgia this year. Always love your videos. Love your knowledge.
You’re too kind, I’m so glad you enjoy the videos! 🙏🏼
Loved the information on the ridge runner! Excited to follow you. Keep on
Keeping on ! Be safe
Thanks so much, Glenda! Glad you're here! 💛

Maybe because Shenandoah is a National Park?

Yeah, it sounds like another fun job. With ridge running, where do you stay when you're not working?
Thanks so much! I've had housing provided nearby through the job, fortunately! 🙏🏼
CONGRATULATION, havenot been on trail since 70s
Wow!! Maybe this is your comeback year. I bet things have changed a lot since the 70s. I really want to try hiking with an external frame pack!
Thank you for sharing. Could you show us how you edit? I simply can’t figure out the process!
Hello… you mentioned in your video there is a new process for the Shenandoah permit, can you tell me what that is please?
If you intend to hike thru SNP(this also applies to folks section hiking the park) you must have a backcountry permit

@ thank you so much for the prompt response and the information website.
I need to start training for this year. Let me know if you want to go up Kiddie Trail. Best wishes..

a hiker has gone missing in your area do you leave to help?
having video of people on the trail /knowing trail real names is a plus.
How is your Mom and Dad. Is he still hiking some with you
Hey there! They are doing well, my dad does hike with me some but is busy with my niece and nephew (they have gotten more into sports and he’s very supportive). My mom has had shingles for the past year but we are hoping she feels much better soon! Thanks for asking and thanks for watching 💛
@KaraKirtley, sorry to hear about your mom! Hope she feels better soon!
