Hi AUntieTay My husband bought me the Dream Box 2 months ago for our 27 year anniversary. I retired 2 years ago and I love my Dream Box. Having this dream box, has made me so much organized. I love crafting. It took my husband 6 hours to put this box together. I have not had any issues yet. Thank you so much for this review!

Thank you for sharing. I did purchase the DreamBox back in November. I’m a widow and downsized with my 2 children. For someone who doesn’t have a lot of space, it helped me a great deal after I moved into a townhome to set up a craft space for myself. It is very costly but it is worth the investment. Thank you for your video 🤗

This is a great idea, but I believe that the expense put it out of reach for so many people. Thank you for doing an honest review. You could DIY this with bookshelves which is what I did for around $100. Unique Crafty Corner will show you how. But remember when you put legs/wheels on anything the lighter it has to be to move around.

Thank you so much for your honesty! I wanted one of these for so long and then my husband offered to do a custom build for me. At first I told him no and now over the last several months I’ve been getting excited about it. Your video has made me feel even more blessed that I have a husband that can build it for me.

You DO have one of THE very special ones! I DO have a suggestion before you have him begin... ((this comes from having my fella "adapt" some JetMax (Hobby Lobby) cubes, but NOW they are inappropriate to the needs! DRAT!!)) Find boxes of EVERY configuration (cracker, cereal, snacks -- the ones from Costco are sturdier than the grocery store ones) and, first, arrange and configure your stash into THEM! Also, remember that the MOST efficient, LEAST FRUSTRATING storage system keeps everything ONE ITEM (or I D E N T I C A L items!) deep. I'm sure you've had to pull out the extra veggie cans to get to the soup -- unless you have a walk-in pantry. CHECK OUT THE VIDEOS done by the fella who came up with EZSTUDRACK System. HE stated the theory for me, and now I totally "get it". Good luck with your project!! Or should I say, Hope your project went well!?!?

I have one, but I do agree 100% with everything you've said. I am retired, have had my own crafting businesses in the past, but crafting is my biggest hobby. I do everything from painting, scrapbooking, calligraphy, and card making. I think that it is great for everything except the cardmaking because of the size and shape of the bins. Card makers need straight, flat sided bins to hold our staple supplies like cards, stamps, dies, and embossing folders. Also, the extras are very expensive. I actually have nicer bins purchased from Homegoods that are aesthetically better and fit my storage need better. I think that Scrapbox should sell the box separately, then have smaller container sets/groups for specific craft types as add-ons. My experience with customer service has been great.

Thank you for the honesty! I feel so much better with the choice I made..... I looked at these probably a year ago and closed the page really quick when I saw the price. It can stay a dream. I had money to spend but couldn’t justify that much, even if I love to craft. Instead I got on ikeas sight and bought some shelving units, a peg board, bins and completely reorganized the closet into its own crafting station. Best part, I can fit my knitting machine on the top of the shelving unit at a comfortable height for use. I just use my desk and a dresser I picked up for $5 as my work surface. In total, including a full wall of bookshelves from ikea (talk about a dream 😍 I love my home library), a roll top desk (I got years before), the $5 dresser, and a Victorian couch (great reading spot), I probably spent less than 2000 on the whole office/crafting room.

Been researching this for a long time (since it came out several years). Price is steep but been saving up for this bad boy. Crafting is my therapy and plan on doing it more often once I can get organized better. We just moved into a new home and our flex room is empty and has wonderful natural light to work in. This piece will help hide my madness of creations. Looking forward to getting one once I've collected enough pennies! I'm almost there. Thank you for your review. I value everyone's opinion and put them in consideration on this item.

Thanks for your perspectives. I finally bought one last year after my husband, an intermediate-level hobby cabinet maker, said he couldn’t make one for the cost and quality of the original. I haven’t had any of the leg or door problems you noted. I don’t fit into any of the categories of buyers you recommend - I’m a passionate crafter, we’re done paying for our kids’ college, we saved up and could finally buy one. We assembled it ourselves, so that was a savings. It’s a dream indeed - it’s rock solid. The quality, design, all the bins are simply terrific. I’m so glad we could get the real thing.

  • @annejohnson6814

I’ve had mine since Christmas. My husband put it together in about 8 hours from scratch and he said the instructions and how it was packed in sections was great. I haven’t had the problems you had my table legs are very secure and my light is fine. I did have the gap between the doors once it was full but my husband adjusted it at the hinges. He said it was the weight of things I had in the doors so I still have a small gap but nothing too bad. You should get back to them about the problems you have with yours. There is no excuse for poor customer service especially with the cost being so high. They have only been supplying direct to the UK for a short time. I personally think it was worth every penny as I now have everything together instead of all over the place. I watched your review of the dream cart. I really would love one of those now too.

I totally agree about finances and not going into debt - especially for wants and not needs.

The main reason I started watching your videos was your honesty! The fun of everything you put into things is a bonus. Thank you for being honest about it - it seems like the Cons are more of 'minor' things, not huge deal breakers - other than the price. But I have seen some people make their own versions of the Scrapbox that might be something worth looking into if money is the big thing for people. (one couple bought 4 shelving units from walmart at something like $50 each, bought more shelves, and customized, painted, etc. for their own DIY of it) No, the DIY ones won't have all the qualities, but still good for a quarter of the price.

8.5 hours to assemble by a very experienced carpenter with assistance from me. Parts require 2 people at various points. I have the Original Scrapbox from the original company. It has some features no longer available through this company’s iteration that are very nice. I have had mine for over 5 years and I love it. I store 2 sewing machines, Gemini machines, mats, etc. I sew decorative pillows, kids clothes. I make jewelry and all my materials and tools fit in this unit, I do junk journals and all my materials fit. It is pricey and the cost to have it assembled added to the overall cost. I feel it is well worth it, but then I have had no problems whatsoever so maybe I just got lucky. Or, the company who took it over is cutting corners? Who knows. Your review was very thorough and fair. Thank you for your insights and honesty.

Thank you for the honest review some people don't understand that an honest review is set on your own personal opinion on the subject and you certainly say several times that it's a personal choice to spend that much money on an item, and just cause you got it for free dosen't mean your going to lie about how you feel about it. Unfortunately you got a $3,000 dream box with malfunctions and if you had paid that much for it than things would have really been sucky having to even take the extra time to deal with customer service and waiting for the company to fix the issues so I totally get where your coming from. I'm glad some people like the product and is willing to spend 3,000 for it and I understand for those who just wouldn't no matter how great it may seem, personal I couldnt afford it I can barely afford any craft supplies let alone a 3,000 craft organizer even with a discount most my stuff I get is used at a thrift store or offerup so props to those who can and is willing to spend that much and props to those who just don't your honest review was great no matter what anyone else say you just keep doing your thing auntie tay with much love

You have the same beliefs I have about money. I’m 46 years old, never been in debt, never needed a credit card. I like to save then buy but only if I use it what ever it my be. I’m a hobby artist. It’s so lovely to see a young person feel strongly about these beliefs. 👍😀 this product seems to suit a crafter not an artist. I’ve not seen an artist with one of these yet unless you have and can point me in there direction.

I love mine...got it on BF sale. Paying with 0% interest over 6 months. I agree with you regarding the doors and I will add that the magnetic closure came off. Perhaps better quality control. I think another pro is the ease of putting it together...if you have help to lift it. I also purchased the side tables which I do not recommend as they are not foldable...they have to be removed and stored elsewhere. The pegs holding the shelves break easily and given the price should’ve been metal.

I bought this several years ago because I primarily do my crafting in the dining room. My intention was to move it out of the dining room while having holiday meals. Well, that was not the case! This is so heavy that i could not even attempt to move or want to move it for fear of it coming apart. It probably would be fine, but there is no way I could roll this over a door jam. I do love the unit. My husband put it together (comes in hundreds of pieces) and it took him about 8 hours.

My thought if wanting to move this whole unit after assembly was to have several modifications. One would be that the hinges have a removable slip pin like room doors. Two might be a change of the wheels at the bottom. Three is that this might be good to be a two or three section unit instead of a single unit. Hearing about the lighting issue is cause for concern to potential customers especially hearing the lack of company response.

    • @edenheaven5175
      @edenheaven5175 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@pamm2230 i plan to make a box, however, you have some excellent suggestions. Change the wheel to larger casters than i have seen is on my list also. But doing this in sections is really a great idea for me. I am more artist than crafter. But starting to craft more for a charity as i am retired. So i am now thinking instead of attaching everything in one piece attach 2 sets of bookcases. And just sit them side by side. For me my need is about storage so in on set i can store all my art and drawing supplies and the other set my sewing crafting needlepoint supplies. What are removable slip pins? I didnt get that part.

I saw it on a mini van build (sorry can't remember which one right now). It's just like regular hinges but the pin (like on your doors of your home) look like allen wrench pins in the shape of the letter "L" and they can be removed to separate the two objects being hinged together. The end of the L can sometimes have a ring on it to make it easier to grab and remove.

First of all, kudos to you for doing an honest review. No one does honest reviews anymore. They get it for free, say they love it, give you a code, and tell you to buy it. That's not honest! Second, I watched all the videos for a DIY Dreambox and want to offer some more insight. I saw the one made with the Walmart bookshelves and the one made with the Ikea Pax system and wood from HD. I decided I wanted a more custom look, or at least a look closer to a real Dreambox, so I went 100% Ikea Pax. The cheapest option is the Walmart bookshelves, and if I lived in an apt or small home, that's what I'd go with! I'm fortunate that we just bought our first home, so I wanted something BIG and went Pax route. You can 100% do a Dreambox with 1-large (39 3/8) Pax frame and 2- small (19 5/8) Pax frames. There's two height options, lots of accessories, and is easy to do it. This is what I bought and was going to do! However, I wanted more storage and had the space for a full on system. I went back to Ikea and purchased two more large frames to cover the width of my wall. Then I used their planning tool and planned my shelves, cubbies, and baskets. I went to Marshall's and Ross for baskets and and got 3-in-1 basket sets for $6. The Ikea insert basket things were very expensive imo, about $60 I think!! This all took time. I had to make multiple trips to Ikea because I didn't have the money to drop all at once, so I bought a little at a time. I also would need things that I forgot and would go back. It took about 2 months. I ended up with an entire wall of the Pax and now have SO MUCH STORAGE!! I use half for my cookie business and half for our homeschool stuff. This is what made me decide to just go all in with the cabinets, instead of just a box, because we have homeschool as well. I have shelves, drawers, baskets, and even pull out shelves. All part of the Pax Komplement line and they are beautiful. I spent about $1000 -$1200 on it all but I have way more storage than a Dreambox. It's also customized to what I wanted, instead of scrapbooking sizes. I do want to add however, that the clear containers do cost more at Ikea but they are actual drawers. If you were to get all clear drawers, to imitate the clear bins in the Dreambox, it would be substantially more and maybe worth it to go with the Dreambox. I just couldn't justify getting a Dreambox, knowing that it's basically Ikea quality. It's not real solid wood and that would be the only way I'd dole out $3500! But like I said, if you're wanting it all clear, then a Dreambox is worth it for that look. I think with all that you get and the bins, that it's worth it. I just needed more space and didn't want to drop the money. Hope this helps and is not too confusing!😅🤣❤🤷🏻‍♀️

In my "studio" (a normal small bedroom) I practice music, have zoom calls for classes, do crafts and read/journal. I have 3 saxophones with related gear, lots of music, and a keyboard. I do some junk journals, scrapbooks, make small gifts. Right now I feel like I am in constant "stuff management". The reason I am considering purchasing it is to contain my craft stuff, in a room used primarily for music practice. I am thinking I would take the doors off my standard 6' closet and put this inside, so it would not stick into the room as much, but would still be able to open out at an angle when do my crafting. Do you think that would work? By the way, your decor within the unit itself is lovely.

for 3 grand I can buy a lot of kitchen cabinets fro IKEA...oh wait, I did my craft room with those and I love that I have real drawers that fully extend and soft close! and I spent less than 3 thousand dollars. And I did it slowly when things were on sale. My hubby was generous with birthday gifts and Christmas and within 2 years I had all my major pieces.

That was brave of you waiting for two years! Ikea changes furniture so quickly, I have an Ikea bookcase I bought over ten years ago( for once in real wood, not their awful laminate) that is great for storing big scrapboook papers in ( no not the Expedit, I have forgotten the name) But when I wanted to buy another one the next year they were not made anymore. I live in Sweden so we have an Ikea almost in every major town, one would think it would not be such a problem for them to continue their furniture lines for at least a couple of years. But there are only some furniture they do keep on having, like the Billy bookcases and even they are not the same year after year. So I would advise those doing an Ikea craft room to get as much of the furniture at the same time if possible or you might risk iot not being produced anymore.

I would imagine that it's a high price point because it's huge and it's a piece of furniture. I'm not able to afford a piece of furniture at this price point, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth its value. I would love to have investment pieces in my home when I can afford it. :0)

A handyman COULD build this for way less...for his wife or partner...but if you were to add labour costs on to the build it would cost just as much.
Once you paid for labour, parts and paint it all evens out.
A handyman could gather much of his bits and pieces laying around, off cuts etc, spare paint - as his partner will be okay with that.
Keeping costs down as much as possible.

If I understood you correctly, you allowed a screw(s) to remain unseated (partially unscrewed) with the leg “dangling” from the screw. Doing so is asking for trouble. I’m sorry the leg came off, but some wood putty would solve the problem (i.e., fill the holes). Once dry you can pre-drill new holes and remount the leg. Next time, I recommend reseating the screws. Further, $3000 for a piece of furniture essentially 3’ W X 6’ H X 3’ D is incredible. Try looking for anything comparable in size and I imagine you’ll pay closer to $10,000.

I got my Dream Box a week ago. I have been an artist for over 50 years and was thrilled to finally get this now that I am retired. I do find that the fold down desk is very dangerous and could easily see some very serious foot injuries if it falls to the floor. Should have some kind of handle on the underside. I find it very annoying in general and impossible to reach things in the center area when the desk is opened. I'm still unpacking all my storage bins full of supplies and placing them in the box. Also what was supposed to be a 2 month wait took over 4 months. I had to keep calling and emailing to get it when I did. I also got the side table that has storage below and 2 side flaps that come up. The center slab ripped apart when trying to attach the 2 cross pieces. Its all just particle board. A lot of money but worth it for me.

I have 6 children that craft along with me and all of our crafting supplies are in totes. 😆 It's a hassle trying to find certain things when we really need them. A dreambox would be great for keeping everything organized. Unfortunately, I cannot afford one. I did come across a video of someone building her own craft station, with book shelves, and I think I'm going to do the same. At least until the dreambox has a really good sale.

Thanks for the honest review. I bought the original WorkBox and MiniBox. Although I loved it, it had some dents in it when it arrived and some holes were not drilled in the correct place. It was too much of a pain to deal with their support to get the pieces sent out. And now, many years later and a major move to another state, both are still useful, but the Workbox is falling apart in some places. So, if you ever plan to move, it is HEAVY and I have an old one without the shelving and I still have collapsible bins. Even if you take it apart, it is hard to move. I may be moving one more time in my life. At that time, I will be selling it and not taking it with me and will make my own storage. I had similar experiences with their support or lack of support. That alone is a deal breaker for me, but MANY others are very happy with them. It still stores a ton of stuff!

Hi Tay, great review of the Dreambox.
I hope they finally fixed your light because that light is truly a powerhouse when sitting at that table.
Very disappointing however I’m sure they reached out to you after your review.
I’ve had the Workbox 2.0 for a few years now. I live in Australia.
The thing that disappoints me is that mine came with fabric totes - not the clear plastic ones.
To upgrade to the new plastic ones costs AU$655 + delivery. There’s no option to purchase seperate sets - you have to get them all together at once.
It’s a huge cost after purchase - no discounts.
I truly want to upgrade as I’m constantly going through the fabric totes to check what’s in them and the plastic looks so much better.
I’ve never regretted the purchase, it’s a brilliant organisational tool. It took us around 8 hours to build.
I used to have a whole room full of scrapbooking and craft supplies, and it all fit inside the cupboard. Including a Cricut machine and Cricut heat press.

Thanks for the review. I have a question from my previous background. Is this stable? If there was a major earthquake would it topple over? Should it be anchored to the wall? We get all kinds of warnings on dressers, TVs, heavy furniture, so I am wondering. Love your colors and enhancement of the products. I think it takes a long time to organize any craft room, and you seemed to have nailed it. I have debated also on this item, and in my budget this would be a major purchase. I bought the bins separately, and love them. They fit in my Ikea furniture. I noticed how well the jars fit. I will probably debate this further in my mind.

My craft room holds all my craft supplies (3 sewing machines, 2 cricuts, a laminator, piles and piles of fabric, paints, jewelry making and metal stamping, tons of vinyl and htv, tons of scrapbooking and papercraft materials, and probably tons more I'm forgetting... I've been hoarding craft supplies since high school) and I spent maybe $300 on all of my storage and furniture. My craft room consists of the built-in closet in the room, with an industrial garage rack that was maybe $60 that I've had since freshman year of college. I have probably 5 or 6 $10-$20 3 drawer target and Walmart bins. I bought my desk/craft table for $25 off Facebook marketplace. I don't think I could ever justify $3000 on any piece of furniture at my current stage in life, if ever honestly. I rather just buy things second hand for much less. I've probably put 3 grand into my crafting over the past 5 years but amortized yearly that's about $600 a year. And most of that cost goes to machine purchases that I write off as part of my Etsy business (with nearly all of my craft supplies), plus I justify it as a birthday present to myself every year so I don't feel bad about making the big purchase haha. I just can't even imagine spending that, especially for something that breaks so quickly!
