Nice job! Great to see the before/after, proof it works. So, after the initial saturation, did you continue to over-water after spraying or reduced water to 15 mins per day? How can you tell initially if its drought or nugs or fungus? I will check your other videos to see if you cover other issues. Thanks for bringing these videos to youtube and sharing your solutions.
Thanks man, I have this same exact problem, I really appreciate this video. Getting right on it. My Backyard looks like that one across the street though. YIKES! seems like the edges are receding and the center ( Most sunshine falls there because we have so many trees ( Idaho Trees 50 feet and higher all around ) and the ground is HARD. the whole back yard slants slightly to the edge of a steep embankment which goes directly to the creek out back . with the hardness of the dirt It's hard to keep the water on the lawn , seems like the top soil is letting the water run out of the yard . I will check more videos , meanwhile I am going you front to do what you just did and pray it works.
For the hard soil. Start with small doses of water every 15 min. Use a water penetrant based surfactant . You can use Johnson and Johnson baby soap or a surfactant like li700

Brother I am in Port Orchard WA and I refuse to believe with all the rain we have gotten that my issue is drought stress but I am going to follow your advice. Can I use a regular pump sprayer to apply the Essential 101?
I have drought stress. But my town doesn’t allow me to run my sprinklers every day. I can only do it twice a week. What can I do? Right now I max the amount of time I can run my sprinklers using cycle and soak.
the trick is to do more minutes with less days. so if you commonly do 25 minutes daily. multiply by 7. 25 x 7= 175 then divide 175 minutes by 3 days per week = 58 minutes per station. Hope that helps.

I cut my lawn and now I have this yellow gold color tint to parts of yard - not sure what to do it was so perfect green going into winter and now I’m at not -
in these instances i prefer the granular over the spray. the spray is more of a surfactant and salt nuetralizer. don't get me wrong I like the spray. it also works great as a soil penetrant by chemically scuffing the soil surface.
Great content Ginja! What are your recommendations for soil that doesn't achieve 6-8" water depth despite heavy watering? I'm in the PNW (like @Ari-sv6sf) and after taking core samples this spring, I'm only seeing water in the top 1" of soil on core sampling. This is consistent with what I saw last summer, where the lawn went dormant despite heavy watering. It subsequently developed a fungal infestation which I treated with Gravex 20EW. Seems like I have a significant soil issue. Time for core aeration and sanding??
well.... depends on your goal. the issue I have for both is they need to be used for what they're intended for. aeration helps with compaction and helps remove thatch but it disrupts the soil. liquid aeration can help reduce thatch but doesn't do anything about the debris on the surface which is what dethatchers were made for. liquid aeration also needs to be done over and over and over throughout the season to have any benefit. I think generally there's a mis conception of what they do.
In these videos I only applied them one time. It would be wise to do two within two weeks but I commonly only do one application. these products are fantastic to use when the hot weather is coming. the grass loves it and helps keep it hardy in the heat.
So right after applying RGS do I need to water it completely in? I plan on doing that soon because I’m getting some heat and drought stress. Thanks for the video!
Impressive results Jared! When I water 3/4" to push moisture into the soil, the grass blades develop a little condensation when Utah nightly temperatures drop until the soil dries down. It isn't visibly wet, only very slightly wet to the touch. Is that typical of having moist soil and will that constant slight nighttime moisture lead to fungal problems?
we have been unusually humid the last few years. if you're seeing mushrooms i back off a few minutes on my weekly watering until they disappear. condensation on the blades is fairly common. as for why it isn't visably wet after a big water like that....... best to dig into the soil and verify its all there. I've seen some very rocky or sandy soils where the water went straight through. I ended up suggesting 5 to 6 nights a week watering with shorter times to keep the water at the roots.
@@pestandlawnginja Thanks Jared, sorry for the confusingly wording. What I meant was the wetness from the condensation on the blades of grass is so slight that it isn't visible and barely perceptible to the touch, but the soil is definitely visibly wet. I take it from your response, that slight wetness from condensation won't cause fungus?
Ginja, love your videos, we've had 2.5in of rain one weekend in the last 6 weeks. Other than that just watering in products (1/4") here and there. But already treated for melting out/leaf spot and nutsedge. Temps have been 70day, 55 at nite, one week was 80. 4" core was mushy clay 2" down, then looked kinda dry. 6-8" water saturation, im assuming my fungus issues would be much worse. Any ideas why i would have fungus and nutsedge? Thanks brother.
nutsedge is commonly a perennial weed. booger of a weed to have come in. if you have a cool season grass tenacity does great as a post emergent for nutsedge. as for the correlation between the two. couldn't tell you :)
@@pestandlawnginja yea i have tttf, northeast ohio. I use sedgehammer+ to get rid of it, like u said, every year. Just dont understand with not alot of water or humidity why i see it and fungus constantly. Applying prop and axoxy. Maybe the heavy clay soil holds too much moisture?
It sounds like you could use deeper waterings and more time between them. Let that water work its way down deeper into the root zone, while the top inch of so does our from the heat. This forces deeper root growth and deprives fungi of constant top-level moisture. Possibly amend with a bit of compost after a fall aeration to address your clay issues. Notice I said "address" and not "fix." Amending soil takes seasons. There is probably no one and done solution for your issues. Gradual progress for the win!
@@joelehoe3542 its possible. I've seen people with layering issues with this same problem. clay on top sand below. I would play with the watering times. just take it down a few minutes per zone until the problem goes away. in the end if you have layering issues the problem may not be resolved like this. I've used soil penetrants to help scuff the soil surface. revive liquid from home depot works well in these instances.
I water my lawn for 40 minutes in the morning daily and it’s still looking like the one in the video. Im getting 2-3 inches of water weekly. I don’t see any dollar sign fungus… any suggestions? Thanks
Ginja, weird question but the fam and I were on a road trip to Colorado and passed through Utah. Saw a neighborhood right by the freeway that looked just like yours while passing through. Told the wife “Hey I think that’s the lawn Ginjas neighborhood” lol. Anyway had to ask if your neighborhood is close to a freeway? As always,Love the vids!
I live in SE MI and it hasn't rained in 3 weeks here. People in my neighborhood haven't watered their cool season lawns at all and theur lawns literally look like they've been killed off. Boggles the mind they continue to pay people to mow dirt lol. Really can't teach stupid. Amazes me how cheap and small minded people are. Do you think their lawns will recover to normal once it finally rains here? Great video btw 👌
hahaha, mowing dirt. sooo true. As for if the grass will recover. grasses like kentucky bluegrass will be fine up to 3 weeks after it goes brown. grasses like ryegrass are limited to 1 week after it goes brown before its dead dead. tttf is about 2 weeks or so.
Grass never goes dormant with this pattern. The redish color and uneven pattern are typical from Anthracnose. It is everywhere this year. I have it in my own lawn, at shade with dialed in irrigation. In dry soil you'll never see small patches of healthy lawn surrounded by redish yellow grass...ever.
I just placed an order for the smallest bottle of essential plus. That stuff is pricy. If it works for my situation I'll definitely invest in the larger bottle. Question, does this need to be watered in after application? Thanks.

Okay, thanks. I will rebook at it again.
You can fix that with Johnson’s baby shampoo as a soil surfactant and not have to flood it daily
great idea. I'll give it a try.
Not to sound crazy but how would baby shampoo work please explain.
@Christopher Hardy it has a surfectant in it that helps water break soil easier (temporarily) Just make sure it's not antibacterial soap
@@paps891 I’ve used dish soap in the past for the same reasons. Works well
I tried it didn't work for me
I am not seeing an affiliate link to the AMS soil probe.....
.... Please advise, I wish to get one with you getting a kickback.
You the man Michael. totally forgot. All up to date!

How to reseed a fungus lawn area?
I have a few videos on this subject. best to make scuff the area, drop the seed and put a some dirt over the top. then keep it wet / damp for 3 weeks.
What if it’s brown patch? I have that in my zoysia
brown patch is best cured with use of a dual action fungicide like heritage g
Still rocking it! When you know you know.
💪😁
Thanks
look at some pictures of melting out and leaf spot. also probe the soil and visually check to see if there is indeed water saturating.
Are you in orem?
Thanks so much
Glad it helped!
Another nice video.
Thanks again!
We have had lots of rain. I don’t understand why it would be dry.
It was the time we went almost 4 weeks no rain. People were assuming we received more than we did
How you like those ear buds man?
The new ANC’s are sick!!!! Best buds I’ve used. I’m a little picky with the sound output and the individual drivers are awesome

Obrigado! seja bem vindo!
dig some small holes through out your lawn so that when you water it goes deep into the soil. that way you can prevent this from happeningagain
@@dannysandoval8296 aeration is great for compacted soil
Ginja, weird question but the fam and I were on a road trip to Colorado and passed through Utah. Saw a neighborhood right by the freeway that looked just like yours while passing through. Told the wife “Hey I think that’s the lawn Ginjas neighborhood” lol. Anyway had to ask if your neighborhood is close to a freeway? As always,Love the vids!
I'm a little over a mile away from the freeway! hope your road trip is going awesome! Thanks for thinking about me!
Please help me ! I seem to never get this right
Nice job 👍…
thanks!
First Aussie 😁. Ginja , right on the money again 🤠
Boom!
So water 4x at 15 minutes daily for how long? One week? That’s a lot of water 💦? 💰🤑My yard looks like this now!
@Pest and Lawn Ginja Thanks. I guess the cheapskates science project will show results in the fall, lol

Does this work on dog urine spots? :)
I prefer to use revive spray
My lawn turned brown instead of regular rain and watering when its not raining.
Not sure I understand what you’re saying
I wish i could watee at night but my st augustine doesnt like fungus
When humid…. It happens
True but 102 degree weather doesn't help so I have to water more often than usual
Why can't I find a guy like you in my city???
these diamonds in the rough exist hahaha hope you find one!
Hate living in Canada. We can’t get essential 321 😢
Vote the communists out and you'd be able to.
lemme know if you find something made of sea kelp and calcium and I'll be happy to post the link.
What the heck was that sound at 0:16?!?! 😮
My kid screaming in the background. Welcome to a regular day for me 👊🏻🤣
So water it and dont mow for a few weeks
The mowing only matters if you use the essential plus
Don't think this would work with fescue
It does. I've done it a number of time.
Grass never goes dormant with this pattern. The redish color and uneven pattern are typical from Anthracnose. It is everywhere this year. I have it in my own lawn, at shade with dialed in irrigation. In dry soil you'll never see small patches of healthy lawn surrounded by redish yellow grass...ever.
thanks for your comment. have a great day.
My lawn spray paint works in a minute or two.
What's a ginja? I've heard of ninja, but not ginja.
What!? Well now you know and nowing is half the battle
It's a mix between ginger and ninja, ginger for his red hair, ninja cuz he's a master of lawnjutsu

In conclusion. Stress your pocket with a higher water bill, or stress your lawn with a lower water bill
If you put down Hydretain at the beginning of summer you don't have to use as much water it'll help the lawn absorb it better
Same old. Little work and a lot of money, or a lot of work and a little money
I just placed an order for the smallest bottle of essential plus. That stuff is pricy. If it works for my situation I'll definitely invest in the larger bottle. Question, does this need to be watered in after application? Thanks.
It is pricey. Which is why I spot spray with it 😅. Be sure to fix the watering. The sprays are meant as a supplement
Only thing I saw was the grass over grown and covered dead spots with canopy
sounds good
