Kanami who composed the song said ths 'And when I was making this song, I happened to have experienced the death of someone close to me, so I was thinking about things like "What is life?" and "What does it mean to live?" So I thought I'd like to try to express things like "What is a person's life?" and "Life has ups and downs" through music. ' And then Saiki who wrote the lyrics ' Every day, I realize the greatness of music, and while I was researching the history of music, I learned that there were songs that were forbidden to be sung long ago, and stories that were forbidden to be told. But now, with modern technology, we have the chance to restore them and listen to them, and the reality is that we can now read stories that were once forbidden. That made me realize that art is something that never disappears, and I thought that this in itself is very romantic and beautiful. When I thought about what would happen if I expressed life in music, while asking the question "What is life?" that KANAMI asked, I thought that "living" means "we are here now." I wrote this song with the hope that even if our bodies were to disappear, someone might someday pass on this music. I thought it would be nice if our music would remain in the future. I thought it would be wonderful if people in the future who would never know BAND-MAID would find out about us through this song, and if our music could give someone a push. I've experienced something like that myself. There are many musicians who were no longer in this world when I started to like music, right? But their music gave me courage, taught me the greatness of music, and gave me a push, so I wrote these lyrics hoping that I could do that someday.'
A some point if you want to know more about them there is a YT channel by a super fan, Ohrenje, who has done, among many other things, an excellent series of documentaries on each member of the band. Viewing order is Saiki, Kanami, Akane, Misa, and Miku's 3 parter.
If you wanna hear more softer Band Maid songs, check out these: Memorable, Wonderland, Daydreaming & Sayonakidori (live acoustic) 😊 I'd also suggest these 2 instrumental songs: Onset (live) & From Now on. If you think Kanami sounds a little like Eddie Van Halen just wait till you hear Onset 😉
Well this is a very recent song from their latest album just released (like "Show them") If you are interested into a slower song from this album I can recommend 'Memorable', a love song for their (American) fans written during a tour through the states.
Someone already commented in great detail about the lyrics but the short version: Remembering the artists who went before us, studying them, understanding them, connecting to them, even through the once hidden and "forbidden" stories of history.
While being a hard rock band, Band-Maid has recorded some of the most beautiful rock ballads you will ever hear. A few of those songs are "Daydreaming", the official music video, "About Us", the official live video, filmed during on-line okyu-ji (concert) during the pandemic. "Smile", the official live video, "Memorable", the official music video, that was a tribute to their fans in the U.S. who came out in droves during their 10th Anniversary tour in 2023. Their most recent song "Bestie" is a mid-tempo song done as a collaboration with Mike Einziger of the rock band Incubus. What you will find out is that these Maids can not only "melt your face", they can "melt your heart".
from JAPAN. BAND-MAID's final concert of the year will be held at ”Zepp Haneda ”on November 25 and 26. The schedule after this concert is to be announced, probably on November 26. This year, BAND-MAID toured all over Japan. It is rumored that they will probably tour overseas next year. BAND-MAID likes to surprise us, so we don't know what's in store yet. I hope you go to USA again.
This song is as Kanami wrote she lost her Gran Gran and had to write a song about how she is missed and how much she misses her and remembers holding her tight as a grandkid, well the genius Tono composed and shared with all of us her loss but never forgotten. and also pays tribute to so many music artists who came before them that are no longer here.
The songs already released earlier in the year are just Band-Maid awesomesauce! The six new songs are so tightly integrated and complex, it's going to take a Tokyo minute to assimilate. But I already love Forbidden Tale, and especially The One. 😉🤘 btw - We should all wish a "Good Luck" to Band-Maid's new self-run management company: Maidit, Co., LTD! Will they managing other bands, boost Cluppo and Maiko projects, or tour more internationally? Or maybe they will expand their business interest to other sectors of the music biz outside of Band-Maid. I believe Kanami wants to get more into composing, scoring and production. And as for Miku and Saiki, the sky's the limit for what they'll want to do in merch, fashion and art, etc.. The music and execution in EN is sophisticated and delightfully listenable. But the lyrics, and concepts they're based on, put it at the epic level. Thx, Joey!
In my personal opinion, it's better to just enjoy the music first. Let the music soak in and then go to the lyrics in your own time. Funnily enough, there's no actual mention of "cherry blossom" or flower in the Japanese lyrics. That aside I think it's okay to interpret the song in your own way.
@@lurkmerchant i disagree, if i just listen to the band play. It's very good right. But your not gonna get any substance at all in my reaction. I'd rather get something wrong and be corrected in the comments. I personally think its fun to try to break down the meaning of a song & react to the instrumental both. I do videos for fun! Appreciate your feedback though.

I really enjoy the way you react. Your passion for the music is evident!
I did enjoy your reaction, so thoughtful and actually trying to hear, feel and understand the song. Not many reactors do. Thank you :)

I'm probably watching these in the wrong order but I'm also loving your output & breakdowns!
