@Big Homie Steve The Metal Head i have seen in interview that Dave McGraw of cattle decap is also self taught. its a good testament that learning how to play and write music doesnt mean you can actually write good music
that was a GREAT coment.....cuz i heard that beeing said for me anbout something else......but IT IS SUCH A GOOD COMPLIMENT!! im sure Joey would have appreciated it! saluud° everybody!
As a lifelong drummer, it brings me so much joy and satisfaction to hear you express your enthusiasm for watching us play. Joey was one of those drummers that you could easily tell the drums were an extension of himself. RIP Number 1
good drummers like joey, jay, eloy casegrande and so on are soooooo impressive to watch. im not a musician myself but you just gotta appreciate the level of perfection and energy they bring
Damn right. Still hurts. Vinnie, Nick Menza (Megadeth), Joey, The Rev... So much talent. I feel blessed that we can continue to enjoy their music and inspiration for years to come. Music, like any art, can live long after the artist. But damn... Emotions. Must go play now.
I absolutely agree with you. But have you heard Vinny Paul Abbott of Pantera? He was the king of drums 15 years in a row until he passed away. After that Joey Jordison took the crown.
one of the fastest? There are tons of drummers that plays super fast and technical than Joey. I feel like, if he indulged more into death metal he would developed more technique that can help him to become a more potent drummer.(If he learned heel-toe technique and Swivel technique.) Joey is just using a regular heel up double bass technique.but oh well, Joey is a respectable drummer no doubt about it.
I play guitar, but I know what you mean. What you said applies to drums, bass, guitar, or vocals. If you want to be the best, you have to put in the work no matter what instrument you play. I've been playing guitar for 30 years, and I'm still learning something new every day.
I got into Slipknot when I was about 12 years old (I'm 30 now) and they were my gateway into heavy music in general. They were also my first metal show as a teenager when Paul and Joey were both still in the band. Not only was I a huge Slipknot fan growing up, but I was also a fan of Joey's other band Murderdolls (which he played guitar). I'm not the type of person to get emotional over celebrities or famous people, but when I heard about Joey it absolutely crushed me. I don't think I'd be listening to some of the heavier, more extreme music that I listen to now if it wasn't for him.
Very similar story here! I was 11 & I’m 25 now. They were my gateway band lol! I’m really bummed I never got to see them live :( I’ve never even been to a concert before period.
@@carole7538 I feel very lucky I got to see them live when I did. I was still in high school at the time, my dad and one of his friends took me and my high school best friend to see them. It was a year or two before Paul passed away. It's a great, but bittersweet memory for me.
Imagine getting in to slipknot at 11 when the album Iowa just had dropped. Found this video of the whole concert and watched over and over. Finally showed it to my mom and was like I wanna see this band.... " oh hell noooo..." hahha that was her reaction but in swedish. And yeah It took me another 4 years before I finally saw them live for the very first time. It was incredible every single time. Been 6 times now in total😂
As drummer myself, Joey is one of those drummers that you instantly recognise, even if you don’t know the band or the song. There’s not many out there that can do that.
remember getting this dvd 20 + years ago , had it on repeat for weeks haha ... awesome to see your reaction . this was prime slipknot best metal live band ever back in the day
The ferocity with which he hits the snare during those blast beats in the beginning. Jesus F. Christ it is beautiful. That's what makes a blast beat really powerful and he nails it
The energy, the pounding of the drums and the sheer output of feeling you get from watching him behind a drum kit is not from this world. I still remember back in the day in Stockholm, where the entire drum kit was attached to a platform, which raised, turned all while Joey kept blasting away. R.I.P Nathan Joey Jordison 🤘🤘
He paved the way for metal drummers in the 2000. He brought some absolute magic when he hit the kit. Hands down the greatest metal drummer of all time. What a musician and beautiful person he was. 🔥🤘
RIP Joey. Joe wasnt just quick, he had incredible groove that would let the music breathe which is sort of rare in this genera. He changed metal drumming forever when slipknot hit the scene. He had great instincts about how to compliment the music instead of just blasting into oblivion. They broke the mold when they made Joey.
This! One of the reasons I also love joey is because before I found him, our style was really similar. So it was really cool pretending I was the one playing (obviously not as good as him lol)
I had the pleasure of seeing Joey Jordison live 3 times!! 2001 and 2003 with SlipKnoT and 2006 when he filled in temporarily as drummer for KoRn!!!…legend! Rest In Power 🥁❤️
Been binging a bunch of your reactions to my fav bands and this is the first time ive seen your heart rate go over 100bpm, Slipknot will do that to you. Especially Joey Jordison RIP the GOAT
This reaction was definitely everything I imagined and more! Your genuine reaction to this and other videos makes it so much more worth watching and staying tuned. #joeyjordison #porvida 🤘
I absolutely love your reaction to this. I wish you saw him much earlier, he was so damn talented he was on point and it sounds like... rolling or like one flow. To be honest, i was probably more excited about your reaction, than you about him. And maybe i dropped the one or other tear watching this. R.I.P. Joey. 💚
As somebody who has played the role of Joey for many years in a Slipknot tribute band, the thing I loved most about him when studying him live was he used to just go out and jam, he would improvise alot while keeping the main groove solid and familiar. Loved him beyond belief.. He will never be forgotten.
Great video!!! RIP Joey, This brings me back to memory lane. I used to watch the heck out of this back in highschool. Brings tears and joys at the same time. ❤
Just found your channel. Been a Slipknot fan since the beginning as an Iowa native. You need to react to disasterpiece drum cam. Rip Joey, one of the goats
February 2002 at London Arena. This is from the Disasterpiece tour. Me and my mates went to this gig and it was incredible. Rocked out to Slipknot then went around London for drinks afterwards. Can't believe that was 20 yrs ago!! 😥
I got invited onto their tour bus during the first major album tour. Best memory from my concert days. Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel was the best venue for shows.
That was awesome u got the best music reaction channel u pick so many of my favorite songs. Also if those skeleton hands need a break I'm happy to fill in. Lol.
He was so talented, so groovy, so sexy. Drums are such a sexy instrument. It broke me when he passed away. He was looking so much better, incredibly sad.
I really love your reactions alot. Joey Jordinson is and will always be a legend, his passing hit me really hard and I miss him everyday. Shout out to all my maggots. 🤘💙😃🙏
Great reaction! Loved it! I’ve seen Slipknot in an outdoor venue and they were the loudest concert ever. I’ve seen the big boys like Metallica and AC/DC indoors at The United Center and they still weren’t as loud as Slipknot. Freaking savages.
Another fun fact is that Joey was mainly self taught. I remember reading that he had taken some lessons here (Jazz drumming lessons being one) and there but for the most part taught himself.
As a drummer myself he was not only a big influence on me, but I was always impressed how he played in that mask and like jumpsuits or at least full clothing so much. I play in shorts and a tshirt and I'm sweating after a couple songs lol. Always such a fun drummer to watch too. Tons of energy
one of the most energetic and fun concerts I have ever been to the line up was: Powerman 5000, Static X, and Slipknot. a smallish venue so everywhere was close to the stage.
I was able to see Joey Jordison perform with Slipnot 4 times and also with Korn and Rob Zombie. He is my all time favorite drummer and was amazing to watch every time!
First off Awesome shirt :) I am new to your channel, loving your content. Been playing drums since I was 16 and could only dream of being half as amazing as he was.
Hi Aileen , then watch the performance of surfacing at rock in rio 2011 (Joey playing vertically) one of the most epic moments in the band's history !!
What I miss most about Joey is that his style is instantly recognizable, you could start a song and the first few hits tell you who's behind the kit. I only started playing because of him, I wanted to learn their song Purity.
He was amazingly talented, he had another project earlier on slipknots career with Wednesday 13 called Murderdolls, he played guitar there but recorded all the music for the first album.
That’s Joey. R.I.P. he always performed better than he thought he could. He always had the passion to push that extra bit and make his drumming a stand out more than normal. Incredible talent.
Hey! I'm watching your reaction for the fifth time rn. Tbh, it's the best reaction video to P=S I have ever seen! You'r reaction to Big Man J is... I'd call it cute! Keep on rocking! 🤘 Greetings from 🇵🇱

Joey's playing is even that more impressive once you find out he's completely 100% self taught

HES SELF TAUGHT?!
@@squidwardfan1045 yup
Yup. He even has a couple of jazz drumming awards. No sarcasm as jazz drumming is very tricky.
What the hell, i didnt knew that oh my god

that was a GREAT coment.....cuz i heard that beeing said for me anbout something else......but IT IS SUCH A GOOD COMPLIMENT!!
