    I liked your Kitsune Oracle build, I tweaked it and made it an Aasimar, and took a level dip in scaled fist Monk to forgo the armor. The DM is now tweaking the game to actually provide some challenge to the party.

    If youre playing bard, consider taking Gallant Inspiration. It lets you burn a second level slot as an immedeate action to make a failed attack or skill check succeed by adding 2d4 to it - retroactively. Great way to still use your spell slots while attacking and making use of your own inspiration.
    Synergizes well with multishot or vital strike, but badly with arcane strike.

    I think you forgot the greatest support cleric domain, madness. Yes boss, i did just give you a bonus to skill checks, but a minus to attacks and saves. My cleric took 1 lvl of fighter just for heavy armor, tower shields, and free toughness feat

      I once made a Madness cleric who ran around summoning augmented evolved giant fiendish dire tigers. He would sit in the back and support while his big scary cats would wreck everything.

    I like playing wizards for support. They have the best buff spells and you can heal hit points other ways. There's also some awesome psionic support classes like the Vitalist.

    Another fun support class base on build just for skills alone in and out of combat. The rogue base on the build they could fill the role of a support class base on their skill set / abilities alone.
    ex: a rogue who use craft alchemy to craft craftable alchemical items for the party use, use certain social skills to aid the party , use linguistic to translate or decipher a text , use what knowledge skills to aid the wizard or other pc's who are good in Y knowledge / skills they have to give a aid another bonus. The eldritch scoundral in theory with item creation feat's be a party magic item maker and the list go on how a properly build rogue could be a very good support class.

    Great video man. If I may add, a support alchemist is also a really good idea, I am currently running one on a Carrion Crown AP. With the Healer's Hands feat you can do some pretty good healing in or out of combat, using traits to use Heal skill with Int. Getting skill focus and signature skill:heal is good. You just need a high Heal skill and you heal without using your spells if you want. U have brew potion too so even better.
    Besides that, you still have your bombs, which are awesome so you could do some dmg and control with them to prevent dmg. Infusion as always a good idea.

    • @d6damage93
      @d6damage93  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm a fan of the healing bomb discovery. Also, good choice of the Carrion Crown AP. We're doing a live stream of it on Fridays and it's a blast.

    Oracle of Time can be a pretty good support too, but less in the « I'm here to heal you » way. If you take the right Revelations you can basically teleport and grab someone with you (so no grapple from the ennemis). Cast Haste or Slow one time a day. You almost always act first (2-3 Initiative roll depending on your level). You can inflict stat's diminution to ennemies and buff your allies with spells.
    As someone who hate the idea of being a healing machine but often got to be the support it's a good alternative and fun to play (you can do some really fun actions with saves or sucks effects such as « Erase from time » where you can basically erase and ennemy from existence for half your Oracle level (in round unit) if it fails its save). You just have to be strategic and creative in the combinations of the effects you can create !
    But be careful or your GM will probably hate you on the long run. (Same for Holy light warrior paladin). Because you can basically do almost everything (damages, heal, buff, debuff for the Oracle, RP (+Tank for the pally)...).
    Plus if you're playing a campaign with many undeads (such as Carrion Crown) it's heaven for divine casters / class.

    The unicorn bloodline for sorcerer is pretty interesting for support as well. Gain access to cure spells, and the arcana is healing someone whenever you cast any spell for twice the spell's level. Ran it as a sorcerer/harrower combo in a higher lvl game, and managed to salvage a fight going south when I got the party's fighter up by just enough health to survive his fight while hitting the mob of enemy reinforcements bearing down on him with a well timed chain lightning that crit and got dmg bonus from the harrow casting.

  • @knate44

    What are your thoughts on Support Paladin? I know it is sort of a mix between tank and support, but I have had a lot of luck with pally Auras and Lay on hands mostly because of Mercies. Plus this way you can contribute to damage as well

    • @d6damage93
      @d6damage93  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think paladin is the best tank in the game, but you can do a lot of good work as support as a pally.

      Warpriest also work's well depending on domain and is a bit less restrictive on what enemies it shines against.
      It just doesn't get all the anti undead bonuses.

  • @smile-tl9in

    healing is best done out of combat, or in emergency as it heals very little compared to the damage you can take until the level 6 heal spell. using buff spells is much better especially at low levels when you have very few spells, as it preemptively avoid (by protecting allies and killing ennemies faster) much more damage that you can heal. So the healing domain is not that great, especially considering clerics can eat spell slot to cast appropriatly levelled spells.
    Honestly a cure light-wound wand (or better infernal healing wand if you don't mind the evil tag) is all the healing you need in most case (if you are not a cleric, always prepare one healing spell in case of emergency. And always have an healing potion ready in the party in case the healer goes down).
    Also you forgot to mention variant chanelling, wich allows you to use channel energy to give buffs (wich ones depend of your domains)
    note that deflections and resistances bonuses are only useful as long the party do not have magic items that give them. And both are part of the kind of bonuses given by the big 6 (6 magic items all adventurers end up having during their carrier. The game is balanced around them so they kinda are a necessity)

    talks about support classes, dosn't talk about Paladin and it's many archetypes (especialy Hospitaler)

    • @lizzy532
      @lizzy532 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Love that Paladin archetype. I like the idea of a less "smitey-murdery every evil thing in spitting distance" and a more pacifist front-line protector/healer.

    • @theprinceofawesomeness
      @theprinceofawesomeness 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lizzy532 i actually homebrewed an archetype that gets the Hospitalers Channel, Sacred Servants Domain and +2 skill points, what it gives up is all usage of the Smite ability but for the sake of Oaths it still qualify for them but just doesn't get the Smite ability.
      (although i did word the ability so that the Stirring Monologue from Oath of the People’s Council still works since that is Bardic Performance and not a Smite to leave myself a loophole, although as a GM i would still deny people that)

    • @d6damage93
      @d6damage93  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can certainly be an effective support as a paladin. The reason I didn't mention them is they're an incredible tanking class. I'll be covering them when I go over that play style.

  • @30noir
    @30noir 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This seems to focus on healing and buffing. Isn't debuffing just as good for the party? Sometimes it's better. By this definition The White Mage archetype for Arcanist is probably the best support class.

    • @d6damage93
      @d6damage93  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just my opinion here but Haunted and Multilingual are great ones. Haunted give you some extra spells from the magician list (such as Telekinesis, Levitation...). Multilingual let you learn many other languages as you level up, but be sure to always have at least one party member who can understand you since you will switch to the choose language during combat (so if you need to communicate info at that time...).

    • @goolabbolshevish1t651
      @goolabbolshevish1t651 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well beyond healing there is a number of buffs clerics and warpriests can give thanks to protection, glory and other domains.
      Many of them also stack with bard, paladin, skald, shaman etc... effects.

    I don't play healers but find Oracle to be the best healers based on others play. As a support I find druids to be the best but it is kind of a chess game. Cast spell x in Hope's that opponent does y allowing wizard to do z.

    • @d6damage93
      @d6damage93  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It certainly can be. Sometimes you just have to do what you think is best in the situation and hope it works. What I generally do is play to the strengths of whoever I'm supporting.

  • @Tomha
    @Tomha 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Blech...Support. I only tried it once and was turned off completely from it back in 3.5. The DM implied we'd have some large battle scenarios being the norm as we're trying to overthrow an evil king and his army enslaving dragons. So I was doing a Necromancer horde of undead kind of build since you know, sounds like an ideal chance for it.
    The idea of support was to help flood the battlefield of empowered undead to help flank and overwhelm the enemy, maybe even terrify them into surrender/retreat. Even better, I was able to make fire type skeletons so the fire breathing dragons couldn't just blow them away with 1 hit. Meanwhile the Necromancer himself would use a various spells like a Buff for someone, Darkness since the party and horde had Darkvision, you get the idea. I had this awesome build that any physical undead I made had +8 STR, +4 DEX, +4 HP her HD, 1d6 Cold damager per nat attack (Plus the fire damage for the skeletons), +4 Turn Resistence + Desecrate! Just imagine any physical undead a Necromancer can slap those on. Ghouls, Lion Prides, Giants, A Mummy Paladin!
    What went wrong? The DM intentionally made sure we never fought anything that'd make for good undead except 1 Dragon. A young dragon I could turn into a Skeleton but the group refused to let me. Animating and enslaving undead humans was fine, but doing that to a Dragon was beyond evil...even if it would have been an incredibly powerful asset in our battles. I could have made Ghouls, (for free no less!) but my guy had to agree to refrain from making Sentient Undead just for what little peace he would have. I was bullied until I just left the group entirely for being worthless.
