  • In a stunning report from The Wall Street Journal, violent clashes are raging across most countries on the African continent, creating the worst conflict and carnage since 1946. Tapping @RealErikDPrince’s expertise in geopolitics throughout Africa, @MarkVSerrano probes the facts and brutal realities about the corruption, greed, poor governance, and malfeasance that are driving this new era of devastation with a massive human toll. Only on #OffLeash with Erik Prince can you get this kind of in-depth analysis, particularly as Africa is in crisis.

Willing to bet your country plays a large role in keeping these countries in chaos as they largely profit from it. Also ironic for you to judge other countries always being in conflict, perhaps you should stick to judging your own countries action as they've been terrorizing the area since they took control.

I deployed to HOA in 2018 as Civil Affairs. I and some other CA and some of our veterinarians co-authored a paper on a regional redevelopment plan using historic and low-tech techniques (largely modeled on the 1800's development of Texas) that would restore the grasslands (it wasn't desert when I was born, it was rollling grasslands) for under a half million dollars.
No one in the command structure would support sharing the paper. It was not in the interests of leadership.

Black dude here. When I was in undergraduate school at Pepperdine, I did a presentation on boosting the US Dollar and investments abroad. I mentioned every continent save for Africa. A classmate of mine from Kenya asked me why I skipped Africa. I said what's the rush, in 25 years it'll be all new people. As the world stands now, governments have no clue about the diverse people of Africa, nor do they know how to combat the bad actors on the continent. It's always a half-assed solution that involves throwing money at a problem they are only making worse. South Africa (apartheid sucked) has destroyed itself. Namibia and Zimbabwe kicked out the white farmers who actually knew how to farm on an industrial scale. that worked out swimmingly for them. Africa is a mess and it's their own damn fault.

Biden just paid Angola, West Coast, a visit, with $1 Billion. I'm sure it has nothing to do with finding oil in Namibia (Atlantic) or the Angolan Port of Lobito (Atlantic). Angola is a "mosque free" country.
I agree, AfriCom needs to be a bigger presence. Russia has failed. It's a humanitarian disaster.

Its totally unmotivated by the illusion of what is best for the vulnerable class of Africans. But the groundswell of comments i see here is quite interesting, to put it mildly. Listen guys here's really the root of the problem. When the Colonialists went in and took over Africa, enjoying the subservient lifestyle and pillaging the land. The one area of governance that was overlooked is that of "discipleship or mentorship". If you are not "teaching" and bringing impartation to those under you - you fail to perpetuate the success. As a result, upon the colonialists departure or having been kicked out. The African(s) take over with little knowledge of how things work (but they know how to serve themselves)!! They learned that from their Colonial masters. Furthermore, other surrounding nations that realize the ineptness of leadership, the lack of protection, see an opportunity to exploit. Thus, we have the scenario that this gentlemen is describing.

Africa’s political leadership often thrives on promoting group grievances and resentment, a strategy that ultimately harms the very people they claim to uplift. Meanwhile, minority groups such as the Chinese, Lebanese, and Indians, despite enduring systemic discrimination, continue to excel economically. Their success, however, makes them convenient scapegoats during economic crises, deflecting blame from the real culprits-corruption, mismanagement, and poor governance. This cycle of division and scapegoating perpetuates instability, stifles progress, and distracts from the urgent need for effective leadership and accountability.
