    Great video, I think one of the very few reviews I have seen on TH-cam thanks so much for taking the time to do this. I am seriously considering getting one, mainly because in my state (PA) they give you a $500 rebate if you purchase an "electric vehicle". It has to meet certain standards, which many of these electric bikes/scooters don't have. The biggest one of all is it needs to have a VIN number which was going to be my first question, but you answered that at the end, so thanks for that. My other questions, 1) does the case that fits on the back, does it sit where the "backseat" goes, or behind that? 2) Other question is in regards to rear lights. I am assuming it has taillights, brake lights, turn signals in the rear? It needs to meet our DOT standards, and rear brake and turn signals are part of that.... 3) Lastly, what is the MSRP? Thanks again!

      Hi Ben. Thanks for watching and the nice words.
      1. It fits behind the passenger seat, hanging out over the back wheel.
      2. Yes, full lights throughout. That's how it can be considered a road-legal vehicle in every state.
      3. MSRP at the time of this comment is $2,099. There is a tariff, ocean freight charge as well from the manufacturer, and then whatever freight/setup your local dealership sets to get the bike from Chicago's warehouse to their location. In our market this one ends up being about $3,300 before DMV which varies by county in our state. Hope that helps. Good luck!

    The look is very utilitarian, kinda like a ruckus with body panels. From some angles it reminds me of a vintage cut-down bike.
    Really nice that there's a cutout under the seat for the charge cable so you can close up while it charges. I can see that being useful for someone who lives in an apartment with a big parking garage so you can still plug in the bike but keep someone from walking off with the battery.
    Lastly, loving the ride shots with the 360 camera. Keep being awesome out there.

      absolutely, of all the modern (non-classic vespa/lammy) electric scooter designs it's the best, minimal and futuristic, in white it looks like a star wars minimal scooter. lol

    I was just curious, I saw one advertised local for $100. The last two wheeler I had was a 1948 Indian Chief 80 Cu In flathead.

    • @VespaPortland
      @VespaPortland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      $100 for a scooter? Definitely check to see what’s up with that. Could be totaled. Bent frame. No batteries. Etc. That’s a too good to be true price tag. Thanks for watching.

      @@VespaPortland Yes, it is a head scratcher event. The Facebook ad is built to look like a downtown (OKC) store, the photo in the advert is of 3 parked on the sidewalk, shows someplace with a 514 area code across the street in the reflection behind the row of scooters on a quick look that would be Quebec Canada, sort of a far step from Oklahoma city. At any rate, it has been an interesting new product to do a looksee on. I think were I to pick up some small electric to the mile to the market. I would probably pick up a disposable from Walmart. Have a pleasant spring.

    • @VespaPortland
      @VespaPortland  ปีที่แล้ว

      We don’t have the Pro version of the UQI in the USA so I can’t say for sure but I’d guess the pro probably has a higher capacity battery for longer range. That’s generally all that changes with the NIU pro models. Thanks for watching.

  • @ethansmith715
    @ethansmith715 ปีที่แล้ว

    Im thinking of getting this model but the local shop (country: Netherlands) starting price is 3000 euro and they said you need to pay mandatory 80 euro's yearly for gps tracking (build in simcard) I think for in case it gets stolen. Is that normal pricing?

    • @VespaPortland
      @VespaPortland  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! Europe may have different rules about the GPS service. Here in the USA they have not charged anyone for the service even after the 2-3 year “free trial” has expired. I think this is because NIU is ultimately a tech company and collecting mobility data is their focus.

    • @ethansmith715

      @@VespaPortland Thanks for reply, the model im looking at is NiU UQi GT PRO variant not the Niu UQI GT. Thought it was the same model at first. I better contact their European branch in regards to their GPS service here to check if its the same.

      wow it sounds disgusting to be tracked all the time. and be paying for them to track you is even worse.

    • @VespaPortland
      @VespaPortland  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Turns out NIU has never charged any of our customers after the initial few years. Makes sense - data is the desire for them. That said, if you carry a phone you’re being tracked at a much deeper level so … 🤷‍♂️
