As I only have a PS, Switch, or Xbox controllers for anything resembling a control stick, I have to improvise.
Though for those who played Metal Gear Solid 4, using a PS3 controller to control ground drones is a touch of irony.

One of the best visual illustrations of what ground assault and rotary wing aviation elements are faced with, the thought process, decision making process, a 3d representation of how aircraft fit into an LZ, how things appear on a map vs the actual situation on the ground not to mention a great discussion about air assault tactics. I found visual representations very helpful while learning to fly helicopters IRL and have tried numerous ways to demonstrate that to other pilots and students in game but this is really very excellent. By far the best visual representation of what is faced, how to face it and lessons learned the hard way. Two thumbs way up from this guy! Well done Dslyecxi!

After nearly 1800 hours in ArmA 3, I'm just beginning to get comfortable with handling a helicopter dynamically. These guides, particularly with the 3D element you've added, are a very valuable reference.

Your casual mastery of SQF script fu to draw visuals is one of many unsung virtues in these videos. ShackTac missions have always featured some entertaining and amazing LZ examples, but I feel like the past 1-2 years have seen a greater intensity level even in the hot or hasty LZs! There have been some great case studies in what to do and what to not do (though under pressure and with incomplete situational awareness, mistakes are totally understandable).

I know this is 2 years old now... .but great video. I am new to the game and am doing lots of Hells Heli time off the servers. I have now completed about 20 hours on the joystick and Hotas Throttle assembely and just got a set of rudder pedals. I have to say the rudder pedals were what was missing to really be my manuverability happening. Practicing J Turn Landings. Flares and everything else you are teaching. HUGE THANKS FROM ME!!!!! good luck on the battle field.

Love it. The effort and detail put into the visuals put it in a league of its own for TH-cam guides. I have a suggestion/addition on the guide's content, which feels weird because literally all my knowledge of such things comes from watching your videos, but in the Communication section another piece of info for the air element could be how many people will be at a pickup zone. As you say, not everything is relevant for every LZ, like when everyone is leaving on the same birds they came in on. But seeing the seats fill up in the footage of the hasty pickup reminded me of all the times I've seen air have to ask ground how many they are in ShackTac videos, particularly in some recent ones in which air switches to smaller helos after insertion. Keep the great content coming :)

Love these videos Dslyecxi. Fantastic Work. Just a question, is there any reason why you upload in 4k30fps and not 60fps? I'm sure the in-game frame rate isn't that high but regardless 60fps helps smoothen out gameplay for youtube. Thanks for the videos!

If only the Huey pilots in "Rising Storm 2: Vietnam" would've watched the part about masking from the enemy. That part's good for more than just ArmA-III, man!
It's a real shame how that game died so goddamn quickly, really; because it taught me exactly how fucked up war can be.

If infantry combat is what I am struggling with, I may as well work with other things like drones.
PvP is one thing, but AI sighting is baffling. Bots are known to have the edge in communication because no one can beat lightspeed fraction response times.
In single player, without the cover of night, the player is screwed in every shape and form, as concealment is a hit or miss in daylight.

    • @brandondavis7777
