All of the places that are shown in this vide I visited and loved visiting a lot. This is so nostalgic! I used to work not far from Khreschatyk and Bessarabska ploscha
I enjoyed your tour. The places and buildings looked beautiful. Loved the patriotic music. I think if you or Johnny would put together a CD of Patriotic Ukrainian music, to support Ukrainian troops, that it would sell well. I still find myself humming the tune from your video. Lol
The contrast of St Michael's and the Russian implements of war is a dramatic sight to behold. Your tour was significantly enhanced by your biographical narrative and the emotional significance of your experience there. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Damn it Nick, you've knocked it out of the park. Inspiring vlog. I'm in Bratislava now and booked out a week or so to Regensburg but damn, now I'm thinking about heading for Kiev. Your work keeps evolving and your subscribes climb but you just won't sell out. Keep up the noble work my man.
Heyyy thank you so much! It really means a lot and is encouraging to hear this! That's right! I'll always do my best to stay grounded. Kyiv is here! It's definitely a place worth visiting but not with risks unfortunately. Enjoy Bratislava! Cheers my friend!
Its a great song isn't it? It's completely worth the copyright claim on the video. It's the most fitting song I could think of for my walk around Kyiv. Its been playing in my head the whole time I've been here haha Cheers!
The church and the bell tower of the St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery were destroyed by the Soviets in 1930's because they claimed that the buildings "lacked historical and artistic value." The Soviets planned to build administrative buildings there instead, but this never happened. Instead, they built a sports complex and used the refectory as changing rooms. The monastery was rebuilt in 1999 in independent Ukraine.
Hey welcome! Well I don't think I would just on my own to be honest. If I knew someone local that wanted to share that sort of info than I might consider it. In any case thanks for subbing and hope you enjoy the content!
@@wayfarernick Thanks for the reply. Yes, it can be quite a controversial topic. I speak from a place as a person who is hoping to do surrogacy due to infertility and other issues. Many folks don't understand that adoption is impossible for some either financially or for other reasons. If you are curious about it though, let me know, I've spoken with a lot of agencies and maybe there's someone who would be interested in being a guide for you. I would love to see things from an American perspective from someone who's on the ground. Thank you and stay safe! :)
Good video, did you know any Slavic languages before travelling to Kiev that first time? And how would it be travelling around Ukranie if you can't speak the language.
Hi there! I knew very rudimentary Russian when I first came here but it was soooo bad 😂 I would say you can get by here without language but it's much more enjoyable if you have even a basic level because conversing with locals in Ukrainian (even if just a little) will make your time here so much better
No I don't. The war changed everything. I don't think I'll be visiting Russia again until Ukraine wins the war and even then only if there is a significant change in Russian politics
@@wayfarernick In order for Ukraine to “win”, it is necessary to close the borders for males in NATO countries, mobilize and send to Ukraine. Otherwise, it's not possible. In Ukraine there is not so much "meat" to win. Don't be silly there.
Did it ever occur to you that having Mongol friends in Ukraine and supporting a Jewish President of Ukraine may not be what your ancestors had in mind for you?

Thank you for the vibe from Kyiv
Thanks Ben!
An excellent vlog, Nick, I enjoyed it a lot. I hope you manage to send us more from Kyiv.
Thank you so much! I hope to send more too. Cheers!
Love the song you used. Big fan of Andriy and Boombox.

Subscribed.. a bit random but would you ever do any videos about surrogacy in Ukraine? Visit a clinic, show if it's safe, etc; ?

Hey Nick! Thanks for sharing. It was interesting hearing your story. I've subbed. To 1K and beyond!
Cheers mate! I'll reciprocate!

Hi Nick, were you in Lviv during the major missile strike last week?
Hello! I was not there.. I left just a few days before. Very sad...
What's your descent, buddy? What European countries do you have roots in?
Hey! Ukrainian, Russian, German, and British. A typical American mutt haha
@@wayfarernick This is so cool!🇺🇦🇷🇺🇩🇪🇬🇧
Do you have any plans to visit Russia in the near future?
No I don't. The war changed everything. I don't think I'll be visiting Russia again until Ukraine wins the war and even then only if there is a significant change in Russian politics

Would love to see more of Kiev (which is a place I've always wanted to go) and hear more from Ukrainians. Cheers
Correct spelling is *Kyiv*, Kiev is the Russian spelling and is heavily discouraged.
I'm going to do my best to show more of it! I hope you can visit Kyiv after Ukraine wins this war (hopefully soon!) Thanks for watching, cheers!
Did it ever occur to you that having Mongol friends in Ukraine and supporting a Jewish President of Ukraine may not be what your ancestors had in mind for you?
Do what's right and worry not. I don't much bother myself about what others, including my ancestors think.
Maybe thats why things are the way they are.@@wayfarernick
