Not only is he recognized as one of the innovators of Rock and Roll, he was also inducted in the R&R Hall of Fame in 1987, before the building was even built. And Blue Cheer's cover of Eddie's Summertime Blues is widely considered by many to be the birth of heavy metal. And the WHO did a killer version on their live at Leeds album.

Unfortunately it's show business, when I was in Highschool I had a choir teacher that used to perform on Broadway. He said that you weren't allowed to have any emotions other than a smile because if you can't be positive they will replace you with someone better. The sad world of performance, that's why most of them feel lonely and turn to drugs as a coping mechanism.

I get furious when people say he’s an Elvis copycat. Eddie was a first-class musician. Played guitar, bass and drums. Besides, Elvis imitated the black man who wrote “Don’t Be Cruel” and “Return to Sender.” His name was Otis Blackwell. He also wrote all of Jerry Lee Lewis’ hits. You can hear him here on YT. By the way, I knew Otis.

@@miguelangelolmo5335 Over the years a number of American artists did far better in the long run in Europe than they ever did in the USA. In the USA once the hits stop then they seem to be written off by the media as a has-been which isn't right.

E A and B7. Amazing what you can play with those 3 chords.Eddies songs were mostly same chords.

Agreed!! But also something that strikes me only because Buddy and Eddie became good friends after doing shows together: What was going through Eddies head when taping this show, seeing it was only four days after Buddy was killed in the plane crash?? He really held his own and this performance is stellar IMO

In 1974 or 1975 I worked alongside an English man in london who had attended Eddie Cochran's gig the night that Eddie died.

2024 and the song still kicks as*! Better than Elvis - the energy, the driving tune, the guitar playing.

I take note of the simple fact that MANY of the most sucessful rock & roll tunes/bands had a saxophone OR a prominent organ, harmonica, or accordian. One reason for Cochran's sucess was his moves, gestures and style similar to ground-breaker Elvis Prestly. Great song. Cochran's loss was ours too.
