it's SO funny dude. like this guy tried so hard to get some realism for his minecraft horror video and just ended up getting his posts removed for being stupid
@@troneysauce that video was genuinely one of the best and most-indepth research I've ever seen, on any topic. that forum poster was the true hero for having all those files, but you did an incredible job
The reddit post is the most realistic thing. I once asked for a datapack or something to increase netherite spawn just to have an easier time and i get people hardcore arguing 'just cheat it in if you dont wanna play the game' with mass downvotes or whatever. Some suggesting it in the 'its singleplayer it doesnt matter lol' way when i just wanted the server with my friends to be more casual.
Dang, man. People really just kick others for no reason. I don't think there's a "Right" way to play minecraft, and a datapack is literally just a tiny mod to make things easier.
Never, ever use Reddit unless it’s for technical troubleshooting and there’s already a thread for it. Only thing it’s good for. Personal experience there
you hit the nail on the head on why i like this video so much. its not just that the playing/acting is so human, but also because everything about it is so relatable to a beta player. getting startled by skeleton arrows and calm4, getting lost in the labyrinthian cave generation, or going out in the world desperately trying to find clay, its all stuff anyone who has played old minecraft has experienced before. its so clearly full of love towards the golden age community as well, like the dialko video or the ONE helpful person in the reddit threads being called "themastercarver" lmao. it all just makes the experience feel so raw and real.
the next video will be: "A strange youtube video i did not build" Jokes aside, excellent video, as always. I'll only be able to finish it tomorrow actually, but it's still amazing to see the quality you put into your videos.
i only caught this because someone mentioned it in the comments, but i absolutely love that the sign changes to say goodbye in the final shot, makes me think the entity that did this (possibly mc itself like you said) is almost a bit smug, cause theres no way that our protag could have seen that, it just seems a lil unessacary, but also theres the more wholesome interpretation of this going along with what you said as this being beta mc saying goodbye to david, and being happy that it can finally rest
The reason this video is great is because its a scary story IN Minecraft and is not using a Minecraft to tell a story. It works because it uses what makes Minecraft unnerving and the fears we might've had while playing, especially during the old versions.
Great video! And great movie as well, it's so refreshing to see a creepy minecraft ARG not immediately destroy all suspension of disbelief by introducing some "admin dimension" or shadow entities or whatever. It really keeps riding the line of "oh well this could be some weird data corruption" (strange torch I did not break, strange calm4 i did not play). Andhaving a live cam of the player as well keeps it grounded nicely. Sometimes in some ARGs it feels like the creators forget that minecraft is a game and act like they are embodying their player character directly and minecraft is real life. Here the acting makes it feel super believable as just some guy trying to play old mc and being spooked but also intrigued by the weird stuff he sees I hope you make more videos of the kind because the way you present info is rly neat (Shoutout to the section at 30:50) and it seems u have a good eye for non-slop mc horror 🙏
I hate the "Minecraft is real life and you realize you're in a simulation" trope there's always some players named like VORT101 and VORT102 and then VORT403 and so on with pitch black skins just stalking you and then all of a sudden you cross an acacia door and you're in the VORTEX admin dimension or whatever (btw if anyone wanna do this go ahead lmao) it's so overdone, seeing something like the one on the video is very refreshing
This is EXACTLY my thought. Having the IRL cam and showing him going on Reddit really sold it for me. With other ARGs that are about shadow entities and weird admin dimensions with souls getting trapped in the game and such it really destroys my suspension of disbelief cause I think "Wait... so this kid just goes to school, has dinner with his family, then logs onto minecraft to stop these world-ending entities... and then just turns off the computer and goes to bed???" Like you said, it's more believable here since it's just "weird corruption, anyone know why this happened?"
I was pondering weather to watch this since ive already seen "The last beta player", but then I realised its your channel so I stayed. And out of topic, YOUR PICTURES AND ART IS AMAZING HOLY SHIT???? THATS SO COOL
The biggest thing for me that added to the realism: he didn't scream or anything when he was jumpscared or came across something unexplainable. Just a sharp nose inhale. That's exactly how the vast majority of people playing alone would respond.
I scare very easily but I was able to sit through this whole video :) I appreciate that you didnt put scary music or sounds or anything in the background (yes thats how easy i scare 😅), it makes it so much nicer for me, I loved the strange house i did not build videos too! Ive watched them like 4 times each lol Loved the video 💙💙💙
I had no idea it was unconfirmed whether or not calm4 would play in minecraft? I swear I heard it in game myself once. As is the general consensus, it scared the shit out of me
i believe it was almost definitely in the game at some point, but the way that sound resources were downloaded rather than stored in version files, plus the lack of credible videos of it playing means its technically not 100% proven.
You are probably my favorite minecraft guy, you just sound so genuinely interested in what you talk about and I love it, already waiting for the next vid
I like how his paranoia is seen with how much armor he equips as it goes on. Going from a calm completely chill player to completely and utterly on edge.
I found you the DAY you posted your first video with like 500 views. and holy shit dude your ability to tell a story is crazy and so captivating. I literally watch your videos 4-5 times just to get the entire thing.
What stood out to me watching the video was that the village used a lot of mossy cobblestone. In earlier versions, that stuff was super rare to come by, because you'd only find it on the floor of dungeons. So someone just building a whole village with mossy cobblestone isn't something that's actually going to happen, and you only have that block in naturally generated structures.
I recommend a minecraft arg parody series by Oneshef. It's very good and funny. Its called something like "minecraft arg but the protagonist is tired" There are multiple videos in the universe, and i recommend all of them. They are all so good, and he needs more recognition

The use of Calm4 in the cave was brilliant. It's such a weird, off-putting track on its own, but in this situation? It's an escape sequence track, and it's perfect for it. It's more energetic than the normal backing tracks, and in this situation, more frantic. 10/10

But I cant, life moves in with or without me. Reminds me of AndrewGaming's arg, where Andrew himself doesn't want to face the change of the game, reminising about his time playing Halo with his friend Chris, even the colour pallet of the arg is this kind of bloomy and saturated shader that makes it look like OG Minecraft. His ARG is nowhere near the authentic feel of this one, it's actually a polar opposite as it has different characters, acting, structures that you cannot argue in any way shape or form are genarated naturally by the game, spooky stuff going on, and ghosts of the past reaching out to him, but it's still immensely well-made and enjoyable. Then there was this one that later on turns out the guy who is covering the ARG is part of it himself as a last-minute twist. All in all, you are absolutely right, when an arg is made with passion and love for both the horror genre and the game it takes place in it's a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
I really enjoy your enthusiasm about this stuff especially how genuine it is. Hard to find channels doing stuff like this that aren't super fake and pandering.

What I like about ur channel is that from the very first video on this channel 3 months ago, you have ensured that it was good quality, and ur sequel to ur first one does not disappoint either. Even this video demonstrates your skills and efforts as a TH-camr. I'm sure many of us happily say we are glad you have gotten the recognition you deserve for your deep dives. Have fun with whatever you decide to do next :)
Woah! I watched your first video for the first time just yesterday, and watched your second video this afternoon, and I was sitting here thinking "I wonder if this guy went on to make more videos", and AN HOUR LATER, you upload another video. Excellent channel and content, please keep making more.
Can we talk on how he never had any wood with him? It's such a trauma for me that I have at least a half stack of logs in my inventory, this guy is not ok. Love your vids, please continue, I'm really happy for ytb algorithm recommending you.
just watched it and came back man that's my favorite type of horror in general (spoiler) when you can't see the entity that torments the mc in a story. being able to see the "monster" sometimes ruins it a little for me, i like to let imagination do it's thing
this guy is cool as fuck and just like me wtf Actually genuinely, rereading this it sounds sarcastic I didn’t mean it like that. What layers of irony do to a mf
Hooooly, The videos and commentary are such high quality, and also rlly alot of things are mentioned that I didn't notice while watching the vid on Mongster's channel. Congratz man u deserve it :)
I hope you do more horror stuff, I love the mix of calm and spooky that you're able to give :3!! I'm too scared to watch horror stuff, but I still love it, so it's nice to have a more distant, calmer way to watch it
Damm another great video. I just like the vibe your videos give of. They feel genuine i would say. No unecessary things and consistent. Keep up the good work and stay the way you are!
I'm glad you feel this way about The Last Beta Player but for me it had far from the same effect. It certainly has some very cool set-pieces and creates an incredible atmosphere in certain moments but in others its just a little too uneventful. After having seen the The Last Beta Player first you cutting small bits for convenience of catching your audience up with the plot perfectly highlighted to me that Mongster doing the same wouldn't have impacted the movie negatively. It already has these small cuts in it, so why not make them a bit bigger? I'm also less enthusiastic about the player acting. It is certainly done well but, as soon as you learn to ignore the camera, what Mongster does isn't the hardest task anymore. I would have major trouble with shutting up, though. That was the best part of the acting for me. You'd think that a keyboard cam and then not talking would be odd but its not odd in a jarring way and instead works just really well. I do agree with you on the point of it being super close to just Minecraft. Everything feels like it belongs in the game. Though I personally would have liked it to be a tiny bit more stylized. Sometimes it felt like the improvisational nature of how the movie was made stood in the way of really honing in on a moment. The ice for example. Such a great set-piece and not able to build a door was such a subtle blow to the player. Briefly returning to the green to get the wood is super natural for a Minecraft player for this being a movie it just ruined the moment of isolation on ice for me. But the way it's done here is still way better than in most other Minecraft ARG/Horror out there. What I can say was definitely amazing was YOUR VIDEO (again). The little bits you threw in-between were brilliant and the analysis was nice to listen to.
This ARG and the "Lilypad Versions" ARG are what I consider peak Minecraft horror. It has everything, the suspension of disbelief, the realistic odds, and it's not afraid to make use of the outside world and the broader internet in order to make the story more believable and have more layers. No shadow entities and no secret dimensions made by a shady organization necessary. Just the mysteries of Minecraft. I also agree with your take. It's a love letter to classic Minecraft, but also it's a story about nostalgia and letting go of the past. One big thing I do when looking back at older Minecraft versions is appreciate them as they are. Too many people slip into the old-school elitism of Minecraft, and others also forget about it and seem to discard the things that came before. I see old Minecraft as a good way to experience nostalgia, a good challenge to play Minecraft without all of the small quality-of-life updates, and also a way to appreciate how far the game has come. As the old adage says "dont cry because it's over, smile because it happened"
WAITER, WAITER MORE PLEASE !! I absolutely love your content and take on things so far I didn't even realize until the end of the video you were a new content creator Imagine my surprise upon clicking on your channel and only seeing 3 videos, goddamn

genuinely i love your content. i look forward to the shit you put out, your deep dives are just straight investigation and information and your passion for these niche things are lovely to behold. I'm pretty sure i left a comment on your first or second one, and it makes me happy to know you got to read not just mine but everyone's. keep up the good work and focus on your passion first. TH-cam NEEDS more creators like you.
For someone who's a bit new you're doing a great job! :D Your videos have been really enjoyable so far gonna be cool to see what more you do man, good luck
You pointed out that some of the weird things happening in the video were referencing or just using unused features that were planned for the game, like calm4, the village, or the torches breaking. I think calm4 first playing in a cave might not only be a reference to the unused track, but also to C418's initial idea to have disc 13 play deep within a cave somewhere.
Just finished watching, this was great! So happy to see a new video from you! TH-cam has been recommending me a lot of minecraft after I accidentally got hyperfixated on Parkour Civilization and decided to play again (do keep in mind I hadn't played minecraft since beta so it's kinda funny imo), and your first video was one of them. I ended up binging both and subbing since they were just delightful, and it's great to see a new one!!! Anyway, sorry for rambling! Wishing you the best, can't wait to see what you do next! 🥳💖

Have fun with whatever you decide to do next :)
thank you so much
Woah! I watched your first video for the first time just yesterday, and watched your second video this afternoon, and I was sitting here thinking "I wonder if this guy went on to make more videos", and AN HOUR LATER, you upload another video. Excellent channel and content, please keep making more.
thank you, there's gonna be more :D
I was sitting in the bus when I saw that you uploaded a new video. Couldn't wait to get home to watch it!
I love your videos!
sleep token mentioned (also thank you)
No way I was thinking about if you were gonna upload again oh my I have so much to much at the moment before I can get to this
no problem, the vids not going anywhere, come back when you can 😎
Can we talk on how he never had any wood with him? It's such a trauma for me that I have at least a half stack of logs in my inventory, this guy is not ok.
Love your vids, please continue, I'm really happy for ytb algorithm recommending you.
YAY I’ve been hoping you’d upload again! Very excited for this!
Edit: this was awesome!! Well done!
thank you!
just watched it and came back man that's my favorite type of horror in general (spoiler) when you can't see the entity that torments the mc in a story. being able to see the "monster" sometimes ruins it a little for me, i like to let imagination do it's thing
this guy is cool as fuck and just like me wtf
Actually genuinely, rereading this it sounds sarcastic I didn’t mean it like that.
I'm too scared to watch horror stuff, but I still love it, so it's nice to have a more distant, calmer way to watch it
I will be doing a whole lot more horror stuff thank you
I’m so glad that you’re continuing to make content
I'm here for whatever you make :D
thank you
Man I'm really happy you're still making new vids, I like alot your style of narrating things ❤
I'm glad to see you got so many views and comments. I'm happy your previous videos ended up on my recommended (probably cause of Dialko funny enough)
The horror of minecraft in video.
Your narration and storytelling is absurdly good, man. Thank you for the fantastic work that this video is.
less go new video🔥🔥
I am amazed by your video. The quality and atmosphere of it is what I like. Thank you, I'm going to follow
Please keep uploading you really struck gold with the first video, and you struck gold with this one, I love your style
I'm so excited for more videos, you a truly a treat to watch! keep up the great work, the editing was so fun. my fav was pov of u lol
The little bits you threw in-between were brilliant and the analysis was nice to listen to.
great video man, hope you keep doing this type of videos
I will, thanks :)
Title: “ A Player HAUNTED By His Own Minecraft World - The Last Beta Player”
Me:”Isn’t that every ARG?”
I absolutely love your content and take on things so far
I didn't even realize until the end of the video you were a new content creator
Imagine my surprise upon clicking on your channel and only seeing 3 videos, goddamn
This is a perfect recreation of that fear you always used to have playing Minecraft alone after watching herobrian videos
this video is literally my biggest nightmare, a bunch of small things paired with major paranoia.
love the videos btw man, said it before but i’ve been here since hour 2 of your first video, keep it up💕
gotta respect the og's
genuinely i love your content. i look forward to the shit you put out, your deep dives are just straight investigation and information and your passion for these niche things are lovely to behold. I'm pretty sure i left a comment on your first or second one, and it makes me happy to know you got to read not just mine but everyone's. keep up the good work and focus on your passion first. TH-cam NEEDS more creators like you.
i love your content and the passion you have, it’s really amazing to watch
this is so peak thx for making a video about it also ur mc skin is so cool
51:15 Loathe fan spotted
I really like the idea of the RNG being used against him as if it has its own autonomy
that pull out from the screen to show your irl monitor was fire
For someone who's a bit new you're doing a great job! :D Your videos have been really enjoyable so far gonna be cool to see what more you do man, good luck
God, you did such a great job covering this film. I think you did The Last Beta Player justice. :]
just finished the mongster video o7 i’m back again haha
procrastinating art coursework 😭😭
The red square 🟥
oh no....it's back, oh no, please save us
Between The Last Beta Player and things like Whitepine, seems like greatly made minecraft movies have been appearing around youtube recently. And I'm definitely not complaining.
I love your videos, keep up the good work!!! I'm invested for the whole vid even though I have adhd and its HARD to focus on something this long. You are captivating but calm so you don't annoy. Thanks!!
also POLSKA GUROM
Dziękuje very much POLSKA GUROM
6:23 I can feel the 80 layers of irony in that sentence haha
mysterious entity puts on a funky beat for him and he runs away. rude.
I love the mountain of plushies, also as someone who obsesses over stuff like this you're not alone I love you
Honestly, I just look for youtubers like you so I dont have to look for the Details
