Thank you so much. I have an ancestor from NC that supposedly was in the REV war but to date have not been able to find him. His gravestone states Va. Militia-1757(found info on him with this) and N.C. Militia-1777( nothing found).
I’ve used the southern campaign pension statements to great advantage . They are good in tying people to your ancestor and the timelines of service.
Great tip.
I just found my 4th great grandfather's Rev. War pension application. It's 58 pages long and included his probate record. What a great find 😊.
Love your posts.
Holy Cow Batman. You found gold. Thanks for the compliments!
What an informative opportunity you ladies have brought to the table. This is some exciting stuff and I appreciate the work, effort, time and willingness to share with those of us who need direction. I find genealogy to be such an awesome subject, and clearly you both feel the same. Many thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you so much!
Thank you Diane and Connie for all your hard work.
Thank you Rosanne!
Revolutionary War Pension Files: The letter the pension file starts with, gives you a description of the type of pension file S = Survivor (Veteran), W = Widow, R = Rejected
YES thank you for adding that Christopher.
Wow. I learned so much!
Thank you.... and thanks for becoming a channel member.. if I haven't said so already.
Thanks Connie and Diane for all this useful information! I will definitely be searching more of these records now that I know where to find them. This is pure gold to me! Thank you!
Thank you
One topic that is contentious is be careful of DAR documentation from family researchers and make sure they have 'all' sources. I found a DAR applicant basically hijacked my 5th gr grandmothers profile and changed the maiden name to their family name. I can't say if it was on purpose or not, but it was done almost 100 years ago. Why is this important? I saw a second person use this very profile to gain acceptance. DAR has a disclaimer on some of their data as a side note.
Yes... it is always good to re-verify the connections.
Connie, this one was particularly bad as people on FamilySearch propagated it multiple times and messed up trees. It's hard to tell people your grandmother was incompetent or incorrect.

Thank you Diane and Connie for putting this video together. I have taken several pages of notes. I have one ancestor for sure that was in PA at the time of the Revolutionary War. He was a member of the Dunkards Brethern so probably did not serve. However, I may have other family members who did. I can see many hours of research ahead.
😎
Thank you Connie for all your videos. I've learned a lot. I was curious to know if you do any private "contract" work for hire? I have a few different brick walls that I just can't overcome. Ancestry.com offers this, however, they're minimum charge per person is $2,500 and I think that's a bit steep. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you!
Yes I do! You can reach me through the contact page at Genealogytv.org.
