Looks great! Glad you showed the 5 tires in the cargo area. I'm picking 4 wheels with tires up and now I know they will fit in the back. Thanks for the video.
Great video
Thank you for the info on the tires. That’s exactly what I want to do. I want the more rugged and aggressive look without losing my fuel saving cuz I have the Hybrid XLE
With 4runner prices still high. I might as well get me a awd Ravi
Look nice that's what I'm doing next I got rav4 LE gas I don't want the wheels to stick out I'm looking for a flush look .thank you very much enjoy.
very nice video! thank you for your detailed explanations and time which you took to make this great video!
Keep in mind that the side wall size is the percentage of the width. So for example if you have 245/65/R17 and went to 265/65/R17, the sidewalls would also be bigger. 👌🏼
Great info that a lot of people overlook, or also considering the overall height in inches and figuring out what the max is for rav4’s (which should be around 29.5 I believe)
What about a 235/75/16?
Did you use the same lug nuts or got a new set? If so what size / brand ? I assume the old lug nuts won’t fit that tire
Its fortunate that the RAV brakes allow smaller wheels. I imagine the wider wheels and the increase in weight, would mean worse fuel consumption. Perhaps also some increase in noise, depending on the tyre. But the ride would be greatly improved. Off road or on sand, with the tyre air pressure lowered, the RAV would go much further. It would be like removing a lot of weight from the whole vehicle, due to the increased footprint of the tyre when you lower the air pressure. But one needs a good tyre compressor to restore the air pressure.
Is it possible and safe to make or put a roof rail then put the tire there?
Did the sound deadening material work?
What size of tire you’re using during winter season??
Nice 👍
but, how’s your MPG ?
I got the same wheel but i want to buy lugnut lock dont really know the size ?
Great stuff with full details. Cheers...
Hello, where did you buy Rims and lug nuts?
Thanks for all the great videos. They certainly helped with some of my modifications and upgrades. I have my (5) RRW RR5-V wheels and plan to have the same tire size set up with either Falken or Toyo installed in a month or so. I see that the Amazon TPMS product you linked has an option to purchase (1) sensor in addition to a set of (4). I'll use that option for my full spare and will buy all five today. Speaking of which, what is the gap height increase for the the deck with your full spare in place? I'm thinking of cutting custom side pieces out of plywood or particle board for either side of the spare wheel well to keep the cargo area flat, even, and supported. I have an all-weather cargo mat that will cover all.
Looks awesome!
Sub woofer?
Nice video I’m looking forward to buy the tires to my factory 5 spoke wheel
What did you loose for mpg?
I changed from 225 70 18 to 245 70 18 and lot 6 mpg. Awful.
My 2019 hybrid has no sensers. Had wheel change for Lexus f type rims. No sensers needed. No lights on dash. 235/60/18
What country are you in? In US, all Rav4 models have standard Tire Pressure Monitor System.
I like your headliner video. I want to move the spare to an exterior tire carrier and use the original spare cavity for either water supply or additional batteries to power cooking appliances, refrigerator and more. You’re probably going to see a lot of questions from me!
You have some exciting projects also on my list. I want a spare tire carrier but even with a bike carrier right now, I find it annoying to have to move it just to open the hatch so I don't think I'll go that route. If you have a gas model, there is a spot to put a LiFePo battery where the 12v battery goes for the hybrids on the right side cargo. I plan on doing a dual battery in the future but they are expensive right now. There is so much room behind these trim panels, it's amazing. You can catch a view of the battery location here. th-cam.com/video/cdq4rHoZUJI/w-d-xo.html
@@Rav4Gen5 I plan on doing some long term living in it. My ultimate goal is to do the entire Pan American highway. Negotiating with a dealership right now on a 2020 hybrid.
You are going to live the dream. Good luck man! Let me know how things go!
Great lookin combo!!
Not worried about the MPG but have you noticed any sluggishness or struggling more to stay on cruise control on the interstate at higher speeds? We use ours for road trips and don’t want to mess with the driving experience too much. Thanks!
If you don't want to have the driving experience it's best to stick with stock size tires . Once you go to 245/65/17 it changes the ratios and the transmission will shift differently not to mention your speedometer will be inaccurate
@@EverydayJ1786dang, I didn't think about it before I bought mine, even though I just turned down a venza for having 19 inch rims,.mine has 19 inch rims, if I purchase Toyota rims off another Rav would I expect the same differences?
Hey bud on how many psi do you put the front and backs on tnx
Just for looks?
My rav4 2019 comes with R17..can I upgrade to a 19 ??
First of, thank you for the video it’s very helpful content. I have a 2020 Toyota Rav4 XLE Hybrid and planning to do exactly the same thing. If you don’t mind where did you had it installed?
Discount tire. =)
@@Rav4Gen5 Thank you, do you notice any increase wind noise or reduced mpg?

Great video! I just installed new wheels, tires and TPMS sensors from CarID. The issue now is how to reset the TPMS sensors system to the Rav 4? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This should be done by your installer. They have the tools to sync the TPMS with the Rav4.
@@Rav4Gen5 I took my new Rav4 to the dealership. The service tech informed me that they can sync the the new TPMS sensors to my new Rav4 but for $170.00 for all 4, and, they will have to do it again when I put the oem wheels and tires back on again! Looks like I'm just going to have to live with the TPMS warning light staying on. Thanks much for your help. Bill
Just buy an Autel TS408 or the step up, TS508. I bought the 508. It eliminated the need for a dealer in installer to do the programming. One reprogramming nearly costs what the you'll costs and I use it on my new Tacoma TRD as well as our new RAV4 XLE AWD.
This is a very helpful content and your rigs really blend in with your RAV, Thanks for sharing it. I just wanted to ask for an update, if you don't mind. Do you get any rubbing at all with the front wheels when fully turned (fully turned either left or right)? I would really appreciate your response as it would help me big to decide on which tire size I should get for my newly bought 2020 RAV :).
I do not get any rubbing.
Nice. Got the same tires on my 2018 Rav4 XLE. Those OEM Michelin tires suck. Got them in January last year just after getting the rav4 (used/former rental).
Can I put 16inch wheels on the rav?
Did you do programming on TPMS??
Done by the installer. No issues to this day.
Great video love the channel I just have a question my tire stock size is 225/65R17 for my 2022 Rav4 LE would 245/65R17 Fit and not give any rubbing? I also plan on upgrading the rims with LP AVENTURE LP1 17x7.5 if that makes any difference.
where do you buy those wheels
Does anyone have info on regearing their 5th Gen to accommodate larger tir
Did you try deflating the new spare tire to see if it would fit better? If so, you would have to carry a mini-compressor.
That's a great idea!!! I'll see how much I can close the gap.
@@Rav4Gen5 Hope it works. Let us know.
Did deflating the spare tire help it fit better?
What ab 16-18 with 16 inch rims how big tire can you put
Great videos!
Can you tell me how this impacted your fuel economy?
I probably lost a few MPG between the tire/wheel change and the prinsu roof rack. I think i hover around 24mpg right now but I don't remember what it was like before the install.
What is the wheel offset?? I don’t want mine sticking out of the fender.. thank you so much..
Oh never mind I saw +38 printed in the box..
yup. I don't think it sticks out so much.
What rims are these .
Did u make a vid on how to sync your new TPMS with the RAV4?
No. This was done though the install of the tire. I do not have the right tools for that work.
Amazing content and very helpful. I am looking to do something similar to this to my 2020 Santa Fe currently on 235/60R16, what size wheel and tire would be good?
That’s for you to look up, he owns a rav4 not a Santa fe
Good stuff!
What tire pressure are you running?
35psi
the title says RAV4 2021 but when I go to the Amazon link for the TPMS it says it will not fit the 2021 RAV4?
I cannot confirm it’s functionality on a 2021 but I am more sure The listing on Amazon might not updated.
Where you got rims from??
Can you provide the information for the rims?
fifteen52.com/products/fifteen52-traverse-mx-frosted-graphite?variant=31599228518466
How do you reset the tire pressure sensor on the rav4?
After swapping the tires. You have to reset that in the car itself, am I right?
Your installer will be able to do this.
Do you think this wheel color would match the Toyota magnetic grey paint?
Could be close but I think the wheels are darker. I'll keep an eye out for that car color and try to compare more closely.
Are those wheels hub centering wheels or did you have to get hub centering rings?
You have to get hub centering rings. Not require but smart.
It will be nice if you include the hub centerings info
Any change in ride comfort after doing this?
It did not. I think the larger side walls makes it a bit better for comfort. No increase in road noise. I like it more overall.
Looks like you fit them on without any trimming and still have your mudguards! Any rubbing on full lock turns on and off pavement?
The size of the wheel+tire in combination is similar to the OEM so I have no rubbing issue. Can't say much about off pavement but I feel good that it should be without issue.
God bless you .. very important informations
How did you get your Rav4 to learn the new TPMS sensors? Did the shop reprogram them for you?
Yes. The shop reprogrammed. I think the rav4 has memory for 2 sets.
do you know if the 17 inches will fit for plug in hybrid rav4?
It probably will. You'll need to look at the whole package though (Wheel + Tire)
I liked the subwoofer is original or you add thanks 👍
I added myself. Check it out th-cam.com/video/cdq4rHoZUJI/w-d-xo.html
Just subscribed. Thanks for all the RAV4 resources, I too have 2019 Adventure. Just to confirm, you don't experience any rubbing at all? I'm getting a similar setup to yours and going with a 245/65/R17. However, I'm also getting the Eibach 2inch long installed. I suspect I won't have any rubbing issues but wanted to confirm. Thanks!
I have no rubbing. You definitely won’t. You can probably go larger on the tire to close the wheel well gap a bit more. Not sure by how much though.
What's the Mileage your getting on these compare to stock?
you get like 2-4 mpg less than the stocks
I have off road tires on mine and I used to average 28-29 mpg now is like around 25-26
Does the RAV4 have modified suspension or is it manufactured?
My Rav4 is unmodified suspension.
My 2019 rav le come with 17 in wheels not 19 so I would I still be able to go up from 225/65/r17 to 245 without it affecting my speedometer? I’m guessing not.
you can use this tool to make a good comparison. tiresize.com/comparison/
Is it necessary to get TPMS when installing aftermarket tires and rims? I’m noob looking to get aftermarket wheels for my RAV4
It is better to have them. I think You’ll get an error on your dashboard otherwise
@@Rav4Gen5 Thanks for the info. If I were to install new wheels I just have to go to the dealer to clear the code/ register the new tires right? What aftermarket lug nuts do you recommend?
If i change my tire to 245/55/19 it is ok
yes i have the same wheels and tires on mine 245/55r19
My car come with 225 65 r15 can I install them with this rim?
They should work. I think the wheel clearance for all stock Rav4 are very similar to each other. Going with my set up will increase diameter by about 1 inch so your speedometer and odometer will be off but it is not a big deal.
Guys whats the tpms Mhz for the 2019 model RAV? I am in Europe. Anyone have a verified suggestion?
sir, i have a 2021 rav4 xle gasoline fwd.
when i cheked your amazon’s tpms
it doesn’t fit 2021 model.
is it work for 2021??
how can i check it?
The TPMS typically do not change within the same generation Rav4 so I don't think you'll have problems.
hey got a question for ya! I have stock 2021 RAV4 and want to install 17" wheels with 245/65/17 tires....MY CONCERN IS: If I lift the RAV4 1.5 inches at a later date, will this wheel set up leave me with a huge wheel gap or will this wheel-tire size fit well with the lift? OR will a bigger or wider size wheel and tire be more appropriate??? Thanks very much in advance for your opinion! :D.
Good question and that thought did come across my mind too when I was doing this as I also want to lift at a future date. The set up will work but there will be a gap until you install bigger tires. To avoid the potentially weird look, I plan to lift when I need new tires (which could be a long time). You can lift your car with a jack as though your changing the tire out to see how it can look. Go up 1.5 inches and compare before and after.
@@Rav4Gen5 Great answer! never thought about lifting it with a jack to check it out! and after the lift, it's just the tire that would make a difference? no need for a bigger wheel right? 17's would do the job with a bigger tire? how big of a tire you think? With a lift, will the sidewall or width of the tire or both be able to increase? cheers
Never seen replacing a tpms battery
This is done by the wheel/tire installer. You need specialized tools to mount a tire to a wheel and I don't think most people have it. And then you need a special tool to communicate to the TPMS which is also done by the installer.
Did you have to use hub rings?
It is good practice to use them. I would consult experts.
@@Rav4Gen5 the reason I ask, most wheels I've been looking at have a 73 center bore while the Rav is 60.
Yes. This is where you should get a ring. It’s not that much most in cost compared to the entire wheel package. I do have it installed. Just forgot to include in the video
@@Rav4Gen5 thanks I got a great deal on some black rhino boxers that are 76.1!
I love your videos. Very informative and thank you for the response!
Did you need a hub adapter?
Nope. Same patterns.
@@Rav4Gen5 Sorry, to clarify, I know they are the same bolt pattern 5x114.3. However, I think the hub on the PRIME Is a 60.1mm while the hub on the wheel is 73.1 (from their website). Which means you need a plastic hub adapter between the wheel and the hub? This is required on many aftermarket wheels. Here is an example: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085BR83HH/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=jamesklafeh05-20&linkId=26f656c8c7d5145e6709afb127ff4764&language=en_US
wow wow wow. Can't believe I forgot to mention that. I used one at the installer and forgot about it in the video. Yes. I used an adapter as you mentioned. It could be installed without one but probably not recommended.
Why didn’t you go for 225 65 17 tires instead of the ones you got
I Read the forms and it was the popular way to go for this wheel size. =)
hi , do you sale the stock wheels
I can but I am in Cincinnati
@@Rav4Gen5 I’m not too far from you located in Dayton
Wheels are sold. I like Dayton.
And where did you buy the rims?
You can buy them online at places like discount tire
i have stock wheels 17x8 my current tire size is 225 65r17, can i put 245 65r17?
I don't know the answer but I can say things
Rav4 Prime is 235/55R19: Total Diameter = 29.2"
You want 225/65R17: Total Diameter = 29.5"
Assuming Prime suspension isn't so different, you should be okay.
You are increasing by 1 inch from your current wheel which will change speedometer/odometer but not a big deal. I don't think you'll have tire rub.
@MadGhost666 did they fit?
Where could I get rims for my rav 4?
Discount Tire is one option. Any major tire retailer would carry.
For the TPMS, spend the money for factory sensors. Dont half ass this.
Where did u get that Sub??
Here is the video for that. th-cam.com/video/cdq4rHoZUJI/w-d-xo.html
1🤙🤙🤙Awesome
Amazon says the tpms will not fit the RAV4. Is there a mistake?
How long did the traverse take for delivery? I ordered mine over a month ago, and I’m still waiting for it!
It works on my Rav4 and on my Amazon, it says it's compatible. I have smart key. Do You?
My purchase of the wheels was also a pain. Bought 5, they canceled. Bought 4, got it in a week. Bought 1 more, took a month. Call them up and follow through.
@@Rav4Gen5 I do! Will this not work without the smart key feature?
Or actually, mine is the 2021 model. Hm...?
Just got my front tire replaced with Cooper tires. A week last my TPMS light came on. All the tires have the current air pressure, but tire light won't go off and it blinks ever time I start the car
What psi are you running on those tires?
You not gonna answer him

Thanks for posting. Did you consider going 235/65R17 to be closer to the stock width and diameter?
Also any thoughts on Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail vs the Toyo Open Country AT3?
I think a lot of people who own the RAV4 Adventure take 2-3 camping trips a year, and are looking for a more aggressive tire - but not lose too much MPG/comfort for daily driving. Curious how the falken’s ride and the new mpg on your setup. Thanks!
Going with 235/65R17 would have been nice but I started with a rim I liked then worked around that
I don't have enough tire experience to provide feedback between Falken and Toyo. Both are probably great. Toyo Open Country AT3 is probably more comparable with Falken Wildpeak A/T3W but I went with a more budget friendly path.
I'll comment back after a couple round trip commutes to see if I lost significant MPG. It is not something I track closely. I am going to drive this no matter what the MPG =]
@@Rav4Gen5 last question - any rub at all in the front with your 245/65r17 with the steering wheel fully turned? Looking forward to a MPG update too. Thanks!
@@Rav4Gen5 any insight^. I want to get the 245s too. Or should I just get 235
@@lesterjamesHDTV I just installed 245/65R17. No rub with the Toyo’s - confirmed :) but I have no data on MPG
@@robertdelara8722 I was also thinking of going with “beefier” tires for a more “off-road” look without spending for lifts and all of that. Was thinking of 235’s instead of 245’s to be safer. But on the 245’s, that seem to have more TH-cam reviews on, seem to not talk about what happens when they hit bumps. Any issues with rubbing when you hit a bump or go off roading or anything like that???
Awesome video just the info I was looking for. How much would you say someone would be looking to spend on all 5 wheels and tires?
Thank You. Good question and I wish I covered that more in the video.
Wheels maybe $250 Each (Mine were $190 from black friday)
Tires between $100-200
TPMS around $100
My Mount, Rotate/Balance for 5 wheels was $126
Lug nuts maybe $45
All this depends on your choice of tire/wheel type/design of course.
All in for me for just under $2000 after tax
@@Rav4Gen5 Thanks for that info! Glad i found your channel. Suscribed.
Did you have to get your TPMS sensors reprogrammed for your Rav? Or did the work out of the box?
Reprogrammed by the installer
Any idea if TPMS sensor will work for 2021? The Amazon ad says 19-20…
It should work. Nothing about the RAV4 years were different within the fifth generation.
👍👍😜
I removed the tire pressure monitoring crap on all of my vehicles, don't need it.
Comment.....If I were you I would have changed the sensors yourself, that way you know it's done correctly.....there are lots of clowns working at these tire shops.
Really helpful video. Thank you.

Better looking imo than most aftermarket, these and the Black Rhino Boxers
