    Gervin mastered not only the finger roll but the jump shot, baby hooks, 3 pointers, reverse layups, up & under, pump fakes.

    Great as Baylor and Jordan were, NOBODY made it look as easy as Ice.

    Best overall variety of any scorer. Good, not overwhelming athlete, had every imaginable shot. And some unimaginable ones as well. Left or right hand, layup, dunk, bank, anything.

    Damn check out that final score...... you would need triple overtime in todays basketball for that type of score.

      yea google it. the 70s they did it and noone cared. Not until 1984 did David Stern care about cleaning up the league

    The debate about who could play today Ice would lead the league in scoring easily.

    This is the slow motion NBA days, I remember when Jordan entered the league, he was playing every possession at a different speed, also hardly any defense back in this time, anybody could get an open jumper, just look at some of the scores of the games. Some of these guys didnt look comfortable running up and down the court. Ice shot looks ugly to me, but I cant knock him, he did his thing and scored, I guess you do what you see, game just looks totally different, no swag lol, Jordan brought that.

      Man to man defense no zone explains the score.Also you shot foul shots after every foul as long as you had possession the penalty was 2 to make 1 and 3 to make 2 it explains the high scoring.This 3 seconds on defense is a bunch of nonsenese you can't guard the basket on defense anymore

    there's that whole paul whitehead/LMU run and gun strategy that worked pretty well at the college level before it killed Hank Gathers, but I don't think that kind of strategy will get you anywhere in the NBA. Of course, who knows if Run-TMC would have gotten as far as they did if they'd gone the traditional route-- hell, maybe they would've gotten farther, but I doubt it.

    Can I get the full game? Or only Artis Gilmore actions?

    • @dmichael100
      @dmichael100 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Artis Gilmore's actions in this game would be a very short video. This was one of those games where Gilmore- despite his 7'2 frame disappeared. For all his good attributes, The BIg A could do that sometimes and I followed his career all the way from Kentucky Colonel days.

    that finger roll is amazing, but a game without any serious defense feels empty to me. i can't see how anyone would actually want to pay money to see a game like this.

    The more 80s games you watch,the more you realize that the old heads are talking nothing but bullshit and hyperbole about the overall physicality and quality of defense. But,I forgive em. They were 11 years old,watching it with misty eyed allure while adults watch back now and are educated enough to call bullshit lol

      gavino thegreat I disagree.Gervin could score.But he couldn`t win.Never won a championship.Not in high school, college or the pros.You`re not a great player unless your team wins championships.

    • @coolmod7731
      @coolmod7731 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@1994g0 That's bologna... Take Pippen off the Bulls and Jordan wins nothing. Period. However, Jordan in my eyes would have still been a great player even if he never won a chip. Switch gears to another sport for a moment, so basically you're saying Barry Sanders wasn't a great player since he never won a ring?
