First, we had Hawkeye in 2021. Then last year, we got the Guardians Holiday Special. And now, we've got this fun little episode for the holidays. Man, Marvel has just been on a roll pumping out Christmas-themed projects each year.
That's the great thing about this show, they can bring back any MCU character they want, even deceased ones in the main universe due to them being varients.
Secret Invasion series was horrible. I was so fucking angry they killed Maria Hill. There was no need for that and it did little to advance the story. I was hoping she would be heavily featured and not killed. She was a great character and they did her dirty. I’m so mad just thinking about it.
The amount of callbacks and references to Iron Man 2, Avengers Age of Ultron, Die Hard all happening in this episode is just hilarious. I died with laughter with every scene. Also I think Happy Hogan turning into a Hulk like monster is loosely based of the comics where he did turn into a monster of sorts and Tony Stark cured him or something if I remember correctly. I think in the comics he was involved with Pepper Potts.
I never would’ve thought of having a Werner Herzog sounding A.I. and now I need that voice for Siri. Imagine using Apple Maps and hearing “In one mile you will arrive at the source of your constant anxiety and low sense of self worth, or as you know it, your parents house”.
That hogan hulk scene was beyond brutal and i love it. I went from feeling meh to excited in an instant. What if Season 2 going good so far. Keep up the momentum
The isn’t the most crazy or thought provoking “What If…?” scenario. But I had so much fun, that I don’t really care. And Yes! I would love to see you guys react to the Mike Myers Cat in the Hat!
Love the Christmas Story reference especially since Peter Billingsley, who is the main kid in that movie, was also in Iron Man and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Man, I really love the little peaks we got at some of the characters hanging out away from hero work. I lost my shit at Tony being Santa with Steve as one of his elves.
Omg this episode with so many callbacks to Iron Man 2 Justin Hammer dance as a recurring theme to Darcy having her Theo moment from Die Hard when she sees the bright light as the Door opens to the server room as well as a nod to Tony Stark in Oslov at the server room in Age of Ultron. Also the whole Happy Hogan in the ventilation space talking about his frustrations is a nice reference McClane during the same situation as well as Justin Hammer's slow motion falling down of Stark Tower a nice parallel to Hans Gruber's climatic death scene in Die Hard. Yes also the Avengers Tie-in shot is very important and we got to see that in a Christmas episode is awesome.

So many great Die Hard references in this - some hidden gems - Hammer’s reference to the Rolex watch- Ellis gives McClane’s wife a Rolex and brags about it to McClane. Also when Darcy opens the vault, it’s the same music as when Gruber watches the vault open in the movie
Absolutely love this, loving Season 2 so far, ep 1 9 out of ten, ep 2 8 out of 10 and ep 3 9 out of ten for me. This was more fun than episode 1 but episode 1 was so well written tho.
Thank you Coy. I always loved Iron Man 3. Obviously fire breathing Guy Pierce was whatever as villian but I love the whole aspect with him and the kid and him dealing with the PTSD from Avengers. Plus it has one of my favorite Marvel Logo intros.

We had the Christmas stuff in Hawkeye, Guardians holiday special, and now this. It’s very fun. Iron Man 3 to me is a PTSD Christmas movie. The villain was lacking, but the interactions with Tony and the Kid, the wintery scenary, and the exploration of dealing with trauma just makes it’s such a good movie.
This episode was so much fun to watch and I enjoyed every minute of it. Those one liners had me rolling. This was a perfect Christmas episode. Hope Y'all had a "Happy" Christmas. 😁 Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌ out.
The one thing I like is the deep cut to meta-ness that's coming to season 2 of What If? with Sam Rockwell and the whole Die Hard scenario coming in the most funniest way possible, and how Rockwell and Alan Rickman are connected as they both appeared in the 1999 Star Trek style comedy film Galaxy Quest, and how Rockwell's Justin Hammer will serve as the Hans Gruber of the MCU in this What If? storyline LOL. The writers, showrunner(s) are very clever!!!.

My favorite strange thing they bothered to include in this episode is Tony's absolutely crazy keyboard from Iron Man - like I swear there is no Latin alphabet characters on it - I think I remember Cuneiform, and they swirl around his hands in some pseudo ergonomic touchscreen affectation. at 13:49 you see it. I've always wanted an in lore justification for all the shit on it, I mean we saw two complete rando's use his tech this episode so it's obviously not just security.
The fact that Hogan getting Hulk powers in the comics for like a few comics is funny. But what’s funnier is that it’s so lesser known that if you try and research the freak all that originally pops up are OTHER lesser known characters also called The Freak
I really enjoyed this episode, I just liked it a lot and found the whole episode to be really fun and funny. I really enjoyed this episode’s story, its score, the cinematography and just like the previous two episodes I really liked how they used the animation to their advantage. It really felt like they were able to use the animation to do things they couldn’t normally do with a live action movie or series. Also this episode as a whole was just really funny to me. I feel like both the humorous dialogue and physical comedy worked really well together in this one to make it feel more like a Christmas comedy. Sam Rockwell finally coming back as Justin Hammer for the first time since pretty much Iron Man 2 was great. He gave such a great performance and was able to bring such a lightheartedness and fun atmosphere to this episode, even if he was just doing a voice over. And Happy as that Hulk like creature (Hulk Hogan) was super fun and really cool, I thought his design was really cool and unique especially with how his right eye was always squinted and the right side of his mouth didn’t really move. It made it look and feel like this mythological, troll or ogre style creature. I also loved how Happy’s transformation was really delayed and how he was only transforming one body part at a time, it was able to be both funny and kind of creepy in a body horror sort of way. Also the scene where Happy (Hulk Hogan) fights the Iron Legion bots was super cool. Not only did I love how savage Happy was when destroying them and ripping them all apart, but the way they used the oil as blood was super cool and satisfying. It made that rampage scene feel even more creative with how they were able to kind of make it look and feel like a horror movie. Happy fighting Justin Hammer in the Hulkbuster was also super cool, I loved the brutal yet agile choreography between the two of them and how the more the fight went on the more it seemed like Happy was giving into that Hulk like mentality. I just had such a fun time watching this episode I cannot wait to see how the rest of the episodes in this new season will turn out. I cannot wait for tomorrow’s episode! I hope that it is as good if not better than this one and that this season is able to keep up this episode’s style of quality, writing, and storytelling. A testament to Sam Rockwell’s performance is his extensive voice work it makes sense he has one of the best vocal performances in the episode

It honestly feels so surreal to see Justin Hammer again since it really felt like the MCU completely forgot about this guy.
I mean we saw him in Long live the king one shot, he's just not a villain that could break out of jail unless someone needed him

Werner was definitely the highlight of the ep for me. Definitely never laughed that hard during a What If ep. Season rocks so far
