- In this video, we explore the Nasihatnama, a profound moral and spiritual composition attributed to Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The Nasihatnama, meaning “letter of advice,” is often addressed to Sultan Hamid Karun, a legendary ruler known for his immense wealth and tyranny. Guru Nanak Dev Ji, along with Bhai Mardana, journeyed to meet the Sultan and offered this timeless counsel on the impermanence of wealth and the importance of humility and charity.
This bani emphasizes that while worldly power and riches are temporary, Naam (remembrance of God) is eternal. Guru Ji’s message is clear: those who hoard wealth without using it for the betterment of society will ultimately face spiritual ruin. He urges the Sultan to use his wealth for good deeds, serve the needy, and lead with justice. The Nasihatnama also references the mythical figure of Karun (Croesus) from the Qur’an, who amassed immense wealth but was swallowed by the earth due to his greed.
Though not included in the Adi Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Nasihatnama holds a special place in various Sikh traditions and is respected by groups such as Nihang Singhs, Taksals, Rara Sahib, and Anandpur Sahib. These traditions regard the Nasihatnama as an important moral and spiritual guide, particularly in the context of leadership and ethical governance. The bani teaches that wealth should be used for selfless service, and arrogance in power leads to downfall.
The Nasihatnama also mirrors other nasihat (advice) literature, often presented to rulers in Islamic and Sufi traditions, encouraging them to govern with wisdom, humility, and compassion. This letter of advice provides a universal message, reminding leaders that their actions have a lasting impact on both their people and their spiritual journey.
Join us for a line-by-line translation and read-along of the Nasihatnama, where we explore its deep spiritual insights and how they remain relevant in today’s world. The composition teaches the importance of charity, detachment from materialism, and the ultimate path to spiritual fulfillment.

Please edit your title .Don't write tilang mehala pehla. It's a request.
Its not from SGGSJi
so
If this is not in SGGS then this is not gurbani!
Did you learn anything from this other than just creating ruckus?
@@jassimarsingh6505 I am not trying to create ruckus just simply stating fact. This is not gurbani! I don't know the source for this and I cant simply say waheguru and it is not in GGS. In-addition, I don't engage in sakis/stories. You should state in the title, this is not from GGS because many people just sees word nanak and thinks it is from GGS.
@@the-gr8-eyecan you explain the literal meaning of gurbani
Gurbani is the words of gurusahib don't matter whether they are from guru granth sahib or not,
It is one of the letters of gurusahib ji . letters, hukamnamas, rehat maryada were not included in guru granth sahib
@@faujekhas1984 I am not sure if this is authentic or not. One should ask this question before acknowledging it. I just wanted to point out this is not a part of GGS Ji. You should add that in a title. Looks like you are in different mood. Whether to believe it or not its up-to an individual. If you need to understand what is the meaning of gurbani then read and understand GGS yourself.
@the-gr8-eye I agree with you, you have raised a valid point.
