In the animation Aang RAN AWAY , he DIDN'T just try to clear his head. Sokka was the comitic relief character who had a sexist thought process that he grew out of. Aang DIDN'T waterbend ONCE despite the season literally being called Book 1: WATER. It's a shitty retelling of a phenomenal animation. Also Sokka got Suki AFTER Princess Yue when they went to the Northern Water Tribe. Suki didn't join Team Avatar til Season 3. We saw her like once in Season 2 but the stupid live-action is making it out like Suki is pining after Sokka, not vice versa.
Yes, I think in the animation it also made much more sense because when Aang was constantly filled with guilt especially when he was called out for disappearing it made sense. In this live adaptation, he spends half the time feeling down about disappearing when it literally wasn't his fault. He had no way of knowing that if he went to clear his head, his entire nation would be wiped out. Lol! Totally agree. I thought the same thing after watching it. Book one is called Water so how does he not water bend even once 😂 I agree with this too. They really watered down Sokka's relationship with both Suki and Yue. In the animation, you could see how the natural progression of things helped Sokka create a genuine bond with Suki and later on Yue but here it seems like he's getting girls just cause. But, as a fan, I still have hope for Season 2. For all we know, the storytelling might get better.
You think so? We seem to have different opinions on this one. I actually liked the actors. To me, they look very similar to the characters in the animation.
@StacyKinyanjui Sure hope so. You've gained a sub out of me. Maybe you should do something on Wheel of Time/ Dune/ LOTR...With your style that's bound to give you more visibility
I never watched Game of Thrones but if this show is supposed to appeal to Game of Thrones fans then apparently that show is made out of stonefaced emos with no personality and occasional gratious violence for the sake of violence with no real sbustance behind it.
Game of Thrones is amazing in both its plot structure and character development. Even though this was their goal, Avatar unfortunately didn't come close to Game of Thrones quality. Definitely agree with you on that. I don't know when it became a thing to only give characters one trait which is often being a skilled fighter then conclude that's a fully-fledged personality. Also agree with the violence part too but I am such a huge fan of Avatar so I hope they improve in season 2.
Unfortunately, I have to respectfully disagree. 😅 I think this Netflix adaptation did a great job with everything except for the writing/scripting. If the scripting was better it would have been a 10/10 for me. When it comes to the 2010 movie it was bad all around.
@@StacyKinyanjui oh i meant memorable in a sense in memes but i agree the 2010 movie is bad bad, mannn i was a kid in the 2010's excited about the last airbender movie....well

The episodes got better as it went on. They still heavily missed on azula, that actress does not match amd several honestly. Aang actor has potential but they are asking him to emote and he just seems to say his lines
Yeah. Azula felt like a brat who wanted attention instead of the ruthless and scary character she was in the animation. I also thought the same about Aang but only in some moments not all the time.
@@StacyKinyanjui I think in the original Azula WAS basically a brat who wanted attention - she was 14, after all - but the difference is that she was also a 14-year old with an insane level of power and status. Her brattiness is usually hidden because she's so terrifying! It's layered in a way that the remake just didn't achieve whatsoever.
@@Neogeddon Hmm... Now that you've mentioned it, I think you have a point. It's easy to forget that she's just a kid. In the animation, I saw her as a ruthless, terrifying character, and because that was depicted so well, I forgot she was only 14. Sadly, yes, this remake only shows her as an attention-seeking brat when there was so much more to her batshit crazy persona.
I'm super confused on why youtube reviewers are giving this show that has positive reviews almost every where negative?! This video is trash, watch Smarty Pants' review instead or Zach Pope's review
Because when comparing it to the original, as she stated it can't hold a candle to it. And don't say you can't compare it. It's in the title to be compared, the character names, set designs etc. So calling out the shit Netflix did is warranted.
@@blkluster1986 you just want a 1:1 adaptation, that's impossible to do. Like look at One Piece. This show is REALLY faithful to the original Nick show, everyone else on the internet agrees with me and this is why i don't trust most youtube reviewers nowadays.
@DisneyGirl2004 A 1:1 adaptation isn't impossible. "The Flintstones" had a live action movie that looked like they jumped straight out of the cartoon in 1994.

Same, i have hope but if they fuck up season 2 as bad as they fucked up season 1, I'm done with this new, "better" ATLA @StacyKinyanjui
If they stuck with the source material, it would have been so much better. And they massacred Sokka's character 😪
Yeah. Sokka's character made me so sad 😭 he was amazing in the animation
I think you’re just exaggerating it’s fine as it is.

Some were but not all. Some have it but are green in the acting like aangs actor.
This is extremely well shot, produced and the topic well elucidated. I honestly can't make sense of the view count
