8:22 I learned to snowboard at Blackstrap in the mid 90’s .. this west side terrain was not very accessible as you say. The wind swept all the snow away and the rest was ice. I’m sure there were epic days where the ski patrol had a blast in that gully but not most..
I literally drove by this place last week. There is a few trees naturally growing at the top. I have a long history with that place, and Table Mountain (I was the first person to snowboard at Table Mountain, hiking up it before they even allowed snowboards in 1988). I went to allot of ski racing competitions in Blackstrap in the mid 80’s as a kid and later when I switched to snowboarding, allot of snowboard competitions in the early/mid 90’s. I remember living in Regina and driving there on a weekday, I think it was in 96 or 97, finding it closed 😅 So I just hiked up and and dragged out picnic tables and ollied over them, hit little jumps etc. It was pretty fun having the place to myself anyway. I hadn’t rode there since about that time, but I had heard it shut down. I live overseas and had to visit Saskatoon, so I drove past it on the highway literally 5 days ago. Pretty fucking sad honestly. And any Canadians out there know damn well who would have burned down the chalet. Our friendly neighbourhood “natives”.
Thanks for putting this together! I learned to ski at Blackstrap...I remember being so scared at the top of the chairlift and how tiring it was to take the T-bar up and ski down over and over. It wasn't til I went to the Canadian rockies that I really learned how to ski. Now I live in Colorado and am reminiscing about my early days of skiing.
Used to ski here in the 90s and 2000s. A bus used to shuttle out, nothing fancy, chartered city bus I think; only rose it once. There used to be a half-pipe in between the chair and t-bar and a terrain park next to it, separated by bushes. The face to the right of the chair lift, of the old jump site, was used for the Saskatoon Freestyle club jump site and mogul training. This was usually the lay out with exception to end of the year slush season, were many of the rails and jumps were moved lower down. The 2005 end of season was mainly a big air jump about 20-30 feet, then shut down. I had one day out there in 07, tow-rope only, up the old t bar line. With exception to a couple of jumps and rails there wasn't much left. The Chalet burned down sometime later.
Great videos!

Putting the location name somewhere, like the title, opening graphics, or anywhere would be helpful in your videos. Thanks for producing.
Will consider it for future videos!
