Hi all. I am the coding friend that stayed up with him on his 13th birthday and coded the game in QBasic. It was based on FF7. He is a great guy and took to coding like a fish to water. Love to see stuff like this.
One of the biggest features in Discord, I think, is the custom-upload emotes, that has indirect integration with Twitch addons BTTV/FFZ. The same emote art can be used for both places, making way for a strong cross-community creative flow. These kinds of emotes are way more expressive, personal and playful (even well animated) than the often soulless corporate-designed emotes. It allows for genuine self expression, in a way I've seen in no other communications platform.
This channel is my favourite as it adds so much value in my life specially the videos related to tech companies and stock market. Actually you are a great storyteller with amazing research skills.
Even though the topics you cover are quite popular, the story behind them is generally obscure. Good work on highlighting those journeys in the best way possible.
I love this one Hari! I think Discord is going to surpass the competition in the next few years because it has so many features such as streaming , video chat , chat , availability on multiple platforms and it is easy to invite people into different channels/servers. Keep up the good work!
8:14 "for violating their privacy" is a nice way of saying they were accused of storing and selling device identifiers, gps data, browsing history and 3rd-party social media profile information without the knowledge or permission of their users. And now we have Discord and everyone loves it.
To me, discord is my only portal to friends. don't have none IRL. so if Discord ever went down, my friend circle would fragment across platforms. It's a bit worrying to me that discord isn't yet profitable, even if I'm not a direct investor in it, my social circle is the investment, so in that way it makes me concerned about their profitability. i see discord could have trouble bringing the company to profit, but I hope they find a way, at least without nerfing the core features that make discord, discord.
@@LogicallyAnswered i should, but I live in a country where I feel like I don't fit in, American born to Mexican parents, moved to Mexico when I was 6, but kept consuming all my content in English, my music, my likings, my culture is American, but I live in Mexico, suffice to say, I don't exactly fit in with many people here. that's why discord matters to me, it's my only link to a culture I was born in, but don't live in anymore.

Sorry I’m late, discord is has a big part in gaming talking and communications to other players helps a lot in multiplayer games ( helped me and my friends a lot in call of duty matches during covid 19 pandemic ) and other people who use it like reddit or fourchan. I like Discord, but I think it's business model is in a really bad place: - it has no clear path to monetization; - what it could do (business communication), Microsoft already does and is much better at it (Microsoft Teams).

Ah I see, I think you’re taking about the Dubai videos from 2 years ago. Most of my old videos have very little views. But for some reason TH-cam decided to recommend a few of my old vids years later. So, it’s not like I was getting a 1000 views a video and then suddenly there was a million view video. Rather, all the videos were getting 1000 views, and then a few years later, a few of them blew up.
It's not fair to compare Discord with Skype as Microsoft's main messaging app is actually Teams. I'm sure that a lot of the base code for Teams was taken from Skype, but Teams > Zoom Also, Discord has a really bad business model as: - it has no clear path to monetization; - Teams is much better when it comes to business communication (which Discord might get into)

The only reason Discord got big was because Microsoft killed skype.

I think Discord is more of an informal/gaming communication tool, whereas Zoom/Skype/Slack are more of formal/corporate tools

I like Discord, but I think it's business model is in a really bad place:
- it has no clear path to monetization;
- what it could do (business communication), Microsoft already does and is much better at it (Microsoft Teams).
