You're getting a little confused with the marketing speak there. The high res audio refers to the quality of the audio, and not necessarily to the range at which the audio can be reproduced and heard. For example, audio played at studio quality at 24 bits and 96khz as opposed to cd quality at 16 bits and 48khz. It's important to know the difference and the significance of that difference.

Is it possible to connect the GameDAC with the Arctis Wireless Headset? So that you can get more quality out of it, lose a little bit of mobility because of the cable, but that you can use it wireless if you want, but also use it like the GaneDAC version?

the wireless is too expensive. It makes me want to buy the wired headphones. And when I think about buying the wireless headphones . . . I just want to buy a non-gaming set and just get a really good audiophile set. It's the price that's ruins it for me. After thinking about it, I could maybe justify getting the wireless option if it was the cost of the wired one.

When I buy tech, I always go for the best if and whenever I can. I've bought highend premium priced stuff in the past because when it comes to tech, if you want the best. . . well. . . be prepared to pay the best for it. If I didn't already have my eyes already on a separate amp n dac, I might have given these cans a hard look. But my beef with these cans is you're locked into the steel series eco system once you buy these. I would much rather buy a set of cans that I personally prefer [which I did "mass senns HD6xx], and get the amp/dac that I want [which I will "mayflower arc and senns gsx1000"].
Good review though, and thanks for the info man.

    • @Tyler-Bravo
      @Tyler-Bravo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

+msp Yes I can return it, and I will. Closed back is not "more suitable" for gaming. Again, it's a matter of preference. The difference is that it blocks out, outside noise, so some say that is "better for gaming" I personally do not live in a noisy house, and while I think music and TV Shows sound great on the Steelseries headphones, when I play games, the audio just isn't up to par. Neither Stereo or Surround Sound produced the same quality of my Open Back Audio-Technicas. They didn't get nearly as loud, they lock your windows sounds at 100% so you have to use the DAC Dial, which is marked from -55 to 0. Yes, negative 55. As well as like I said, the sound wasn't as precise, I couldn't make out where people are, and that tends to be important as I play Counter-Strike on a high level, and competitively. If you're used to the noise canceling I suppose it would be fine, otherwise, for someone like myself, it just wasn't able to highlight the important details nor did it sound nearly as good. That whole "Closed back is better for gaming" is a myth. It's all about preference, Open back has a larger soundstage, and definately sounds better, not that, that neccessilary matters for gaming, because it doesn't. For "Gaming" it's all about if you care about noise canceling, which I don't.

I am a PS4 and PC guy. I purchased the wireless version yesterday from Best Buy. I'm still waiting to receive them in the mail but I am very excited about these. I've gone through countless headsets and I am still trying to find the perfect pair for me. I'm hoping these are comfortable. I had the Arctis 7 a while ago and my left ear was irritated from rubbing against the inside left cup. These look great though.

no, there cloth and though a closed back design they breath really well. Im one of those OCD dudes that always has hot red ears and when i use the wrong headset my ears get very uncomfortable and hot to the point i need to remove normal ones after about an hour and with these i can go about 3.5-4 hours before i feel the need to adjust at all and never do my ears sweat in these like they have even in the sennheiser game one which typically has no heat issues for people like me.

I wanted to ask a question that I haven't seen an explicit answer for yet. I'll be using this for both PS4 and PC, and I will be using these for both comms and sound. My question is, is this possible to do with this headset and be able to switch between the two seamlessly, or will I need to be unplugging the USB cord whenever I want to use the other system, because I think I read the PS4 requires a USB connection for game-chat, or something like that, I could be wrong.
    Any help is appreciated.

    • @TechteamGB

If you have the USB connected to the pc, and optical out from PS4 connected to the dac, it should be a seamless switch.

Well.. There are some ways that may work or may not.. Like getting a special usb cable where the mini-USB is divided into two USB..
The best way to do it (Which do work!) Is to use the 2.4Mhz channel in to the PC and the Bluetooth channel in to the PS4..(Or the other way around!)
But since you get the best sound and options/settings on PC (Like DTS 7.1 and REAL High-res 40K plus and the software Arctis Engine 3 with the wirless pro only if it's connected to PC via the 2.4Mhz channel).
(Got mine at a sale a couple of month ago.. Ran into the black edition which I got for 150$..Which was strange because the white edition were like 350$..!?!
So I grabbed the black ones, hooked them up. After about 30 seconds I started cursing myself for not paying more attention to audio before.. 😔 But since then my life is alot better! 😊

Does the optical in port function while the wireless hub is set to PC? I currently use Astro A40 tr + mixamp, and with them I am able to connect my PC through USB, and then connect my Xbox through the optical connection. This doesn't allow chatting on the Xbox, and limits the PC output to stereo (As the optical connection being plugged in takes over the Astro Game channel on the PC, limiting both default and communication device to the Astro Voice channel.) but I want to hear high quality audio from my Xbox One while being able to hear some audio and communicate via the PC, ideally without using Bluetooth. I'd love to find a wireless solution that works for this without having to go the A50 route.

It allows up to 2 and wired source used at same time + Bluetooth. You can listen + talk to PC via USB or Analog + Listen to music via Optical in or Any other cable + answer calls on your phone while in game - All at same time! How many times you hear "I'm back, sorry was on phone". With this headset you can talk ingame and on phone at same time! (muting mic on pc or phone or talking to both)

If set to the PS4 mode with the optical to the console and the USB to the PC you can listen to the console and listen/chat on the PC. You don't get chat mix, as the mix is between the PC and console, but this is exactly what I wanted, being able to hear both and chat on the PC.
