I work in a plant that makes most of the parts found in the fuselage, they will all be scraped out. the price on scrap is more then what they can be sold for.
I believe that they put the planes in the middle of the train and the heavier freight cars pushed the light weight plane fuselage off the tracks. Next time put the light weight stuff at the rear of the train.
Why didn't they simply fly them out?
They tried to but the engines were water logged
Those will now be Syrian airlines 737's

Dennis If this is a valid statement, i hope anno 2017 that train crew don't need to be told this via the TH-cam comment section.
Train car's that long are intended to carry steel. They should have had steel underneath the planes
Out of Helena they are virtually always on the front of the train.
Didn't see anything get recovered.
incredible video! with proper tags and title this video could get at least ten times as many views.
Jaw Tooth there's a video of the same accident. But from rafters
Dam that's going to leave a mark

SpinesGames Could've sworn I saw a couple hanging around the scrapyard. Or maybe is was on a freight car. Not sure.
All were cut up for scrap

Plane crash.
who's going to pay for this mess?
Tax Payers. We also pay for Amtrack being in operation.
insurance
+Jon Blake im pretty sure most freight lines are privately owned
every major railroad except amtrak is a corporation owned by stockholders and they all have giant liability insurance for these types of situation
BNSF, the railroad that this derailment occurred on is wholly owned by Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway.
