- I just had to know if it was possible to launch and land a Mini 4 Pro in water. And did it work? Well check out and see. This is an unsponsored video, I paid for all the gear tested with my own money.

A few years ago, someone tried this with a Mavic Pro (I believe) and after a few successful landings, the drone decided to flip in an attempt to take off. I would not recommend landing on water but it is up to you to show us your good (or bad) results. Good luck. Thanks for sharing.
Just like with a regular helicopter its easy to pitch pole the bird. The year after I flew floats on a helicopter another pilot flipped the helo over and the crew nearly drowned, lucky for them there were some Navy divers nearby who came over and helped extract them...
Thanks for a great vid.👍
I was on the fence about trying these.
After seeing your vid, I am glad I didnt waste the money.
Yeah I know what you mean, this mod is not for the faint hearted. I'm glad I didn't just run out to a lake and try the floats out without any build up.
It is shaking around because the downward sensors are expecting a stavle surface, and the ripples in the water as it lowers cause it to try stabilizing itself for landing. It can't stabilize itself to the water because the ripples are constantly moving.
I think you're right, after looking at the video again.
Landing on water? Too risky for me. But! If I plan to do a 1 mile out over water vid shot, I would feel more comfortable with a floatation device on board so if it CRASHED I have a fighting chance to go retrieve it. I would expect a crash to be detrimental with the drone getting wet...but with Refresh Care at least I would have the drone in my possession to ship back to DJI. I also use a Samsung SmartTag2 GPS tracker so I can locate a flyaway. ALWAYS PREPARED to physically go find it to submit the drone under Refresh Care
Here's a follow up video where I flew over, landed and took off from a large lake. Very nerve racking for sure: th-cam.com/video/aHnFHAstDMs/w-d-xo.html
So important experiment 🔬
I was so worried about landing on water kit, because I have lost a mini 3 in the sea and don’t want to risk the mini 4 now until I’m confident.
What if you spray the foam noodles with water repellent liquid?
Maybe, but closed cell foam is fairly water repellant already, and spraying them might melt the foam.
Thanks for sharing this product and testing it, nicely put together, good job, new sub added 👍
You're welcome. Getting ready for the right weather to take this out to a pond and see how it does next.
id be interested to see this with a more powerful drone like something from the mavic series or inspire (that one might break the budget!) - it might have enough power to be stable with the floaters
I'd be interested in that too! Cross winds really seemed to affect it. But also at that height the downwash is also a big factor, just like it is for helicopters...
Any info on how fast is it in horizontal flight with the floats on? Top speed in Sport mode, to be specific.
I haven't tested that far out yet, but a very good question. Stay tuned.
Bad idea but I can't wait to see you lose it. You are practicing landing on a smooth surface, the first wave is going to flip it over so I hope you have the refresh warranty lololol.
I do have the warranty, stay tuned...
Hi
I’m using Dji mini 4 pro
Can Dji mini 3 pro water gear fit onto mini 4 pro..?
what you see here in a Mini 4 Pro...
Bad idea. Poor drone's shaking in the air like a virgin girl before the first...😆
okay...
Would it be the movement of the water that is throwing the drone off?
Chris, I'm thinking it might be. Also with the floats the slightest wind seems to affect the feedback loop of the stabilizing algorythms..
try lowering weight and overclock technically possible (add more voltage)
I think like my helicopter experience it might be best to just roll it in and pull it up with spending anytime in the hover. Our maybe in nifty mode where you seem to have a bit more control...
Interesting and useless accessory.
I think you will never use it in real scenarios.
Greetings from my modest channel in Uruguay.
Maybe if you were filming water sports and you wanted to have a bit of assurance that if something happened it wouldn't go to the bottom of the lake...
