I like to play the regular advanced and use the ballpark effects , that’s the great thing about strat I can use whatever rules that fits my style of play
You make this easier than reading the rules, which are difficult to follow at times. Thank you for making this video. I am playing the Super Advanced game with a group of guys at the end of July. So, this is very helpful. Also, I enjoyed your video of Quartermaster General WW2.
I know this is an old video but just like a did with your MAGE KNIGHT uploads in around 2012, I've watched this Strat-o-matic 5 part series over and over. I knew almost nothing about Baseball 2 weeks ago but suddenly got hooked and had to get this game. I'm almost a Septegenarian (probably mis-spelt), so find difficulty learning complex rules. I've now made loads of notes from these videos so......THANK YOU!
Fantastic video -- the best tutorial on SOM Super Advanced I have seen. I learned more watching your video than I did in several attempts (& several hours!).of stumbling through the rulebook during game play. Thanks so much for making these outstanding videos! 👍🙂
I really need to get a recent season. All my SOM sets are from the 1980s. Ballpark effects, clutch hitting, pitcher hold ratings all started with the 85 set.
Your UK friends must be thinking, “Wot in the bloody hell?!?!?” 🤣🤣🤣I like how you explained the game of baseball in the first inning. For anyone who doesn’t have a firm grasp of the gameplay and complicated score keeping of baseball, these videos must be mind blowing. With that being said, you do a great job of explaining, not only Strat gameplay, but also the strategy involved such as “corners in” or holding a runner. Good job, Mate!
Excellent tutorial work as usual. One minor adjustment on the Eaton at bat. You wrote down a single for him when it was a fielders choice. No change in that he takes first but he does not get credit for a base hit. Love your strat videos. Thanks so much for doing them.
P.S. I wish I had had friends who wanted to play this with me when I was 10. No one I knew was as nerdy about baseball as me. I tried to get my mom to play with me but I don’t think we ever finished a game.
Ricky, thanks for the tutorial. I play a hybrid of advanced and super-advanced. For fielding, I have been playing advanced but I wanted to see how the super-advanced fielding is done. Too many errors on advanced fielding, so after watching your tutorial, I am switching over to super-advanced fielding when my next Strat game is played.
Scoring note: “L3” is a better indicator for line out to 1B. Not really relevant for the game, just for making a more accurate scorecard. Most people do L for a line out, F for a fly out, and P for a pop out, though personally I use F to signify a foul fly out. Ex. 9 for fair fly out; 9F for foul fly out.
Great video. I own the 2020 hof set (Anybody after Mariano Rivera and Roy Holiday are not in it.). I would be interested in buying some new sets. What sets some good value? I am thinking of getting baseball heroes 1 and baseball heroes 3. However I also would like to see some of your thoughts on which sets you recommend.
Noticed you weren't rolling a d20 with your 3d6 to determine wp bk/pb. Was that an oversight or just a rule you don't use? EDIT Should've watched the whole video before making the comment. You just waited until there was a man on base. Really enjoying all your videos. Keep up the good work.

Played this as a kid with my brother. Best baseball simulation game ever!

I know it's been a long time but you should make some more videos. Thanks. You are very good at making these videos.

That looks like a fun game. Thanks for sharing how to play it. 😃

Great series. Thank you. I own this game and i I’d like to protect my cards as you have; what are you using to sleeve your cards?
thank you. I used these: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B000I6NQN4?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
thanks for making this video. I have learned from this to how to play this game super advanced. Thanks a lot sir.
my pleasure! have a good post-season ;)
@@BoxofDelights Hello sir, when I roll the range then roll the error but there is no error which symbol do I look at? Thanks
Hello, where did you get the plastic sleeves for your cards? Thanks
One quick question. Where did you get the base runners from, Ricky?
Sure: they are MLB Sportsclix published by WizKids and Topps. They are some years old now though... (2005?)
@@BoxofDelights Thank you. I found it.

Nice job
cheers !
I like the look of this game, just expensive to get in the UK. Have you tried Title Bout 2? I got it on Kickstarter. Fun game
You're not wrong. I would like some updated cards, but the postage ... :(
I think is time for another tutorial here...
do you know if those sleeves you use to cover your cards are available online?
I bought them from Amazon (postcard sleeves)
