Thank you for sharing some of your farm fresh finds! I enjoy the early primitive country pieces. When we started, we went to antique auctions. At that time we collected oak furniture. But over time we were drawn to the country painted furniture. I also like crocks/stoneware.
Now we find the better pieces at shows and at good malls and shops. We like the Ohio shows, we went to New England a few times, love shopping in New England!

Here in upstate New York, primitives seem more plentiful and lots cheaper than what I see others find in other areas of the country. I’ve never paid more than $5 for a crock and that’s my 15 gallon that I use for a side table. Yard sales start here in May and go till early fall when it gets cold, local estate sales, church sales and driving around the night before our local trash pickup is where I found things for years. We live in a rural area, lots of very old farm homes and many times have found barrels, tables, old buckets and watering cans alongside the road with free signs on them. I bought three pieces of wrought iron early primitive candle lights yesterday for .75 for all three and an old watering can that was filling car radiators for $1. All of my old candle molds, firkins, grain boxes, old wooden bowls, treenware, etc have come from local estate sales and yard sales and don’t think I’ve paid more than $3 for any of them. The younger generation doesn’t seem to appreciate or want the old things so a plus for those of us who do🤎🤎🤎

@@1824walkerfarmhouse it’s ironic as most people think that things are expensive in New York but after following a few favorite TH-cam channels with early primitive I’ve realized that our prices are so much less than any that I watch. We are five hours north of New York City and am pretty sure things downstate are far more expensive but not here and smalls are easy to find if you look.

We bought an historical home about 30 years ago..added on to it, was empty for 18 years. Nothing worked. We put money, love and needed some antiques. Went to quite a few antique shows in New England, stayed at a few b&bs which we loved, and got ideas. We also have cherry furniture. I love how it all looks together. When I look at certain pieces I remember those times, how much fun we had. I really enjoy your channel. You both are really interesting and really a cute couple. Ps, love your sweet little laugh🐣

My style is turn of the century, our house is from that time period and lends itself well to the antiques of that time period. My favorite pieces are ones that are from my grandparents and great grandparents. My grandmother's hoosier, grandfather's old wooden farm equipment ❤. They give me so much pride to have them.

Yes I have change , I was primitive with color especially blue . But then I went to an antique show and saw earlier England pieces and I love it !!! So I sold all my primitives and went to the pilgrim look!!! It’s hard now to find these pieces so most is on line for me !! But I love Dave’s candle holder !!!! That’s a keeper !!

We use to go to auctions on a regular basis....it seems like it was a lot easier to get some really good scores in times past. Hands down, my favorite score is my 24" Amish rag doll with original blue calico dress....bought for $5. I'm seen comparable pieces in shops priced at $1500 and up. It was a happy, memorable day.

I have collected antiques for 50+ yrs. Flea markets, antique shops, rummage sales, auctions, shows is where I would shop. Primitive things have not been abundant here in Wisconsin so have gone out of state also. Getting older has limited my buying a little, don't do auctions and flea markets much anymore due to bad knees. Don't rummage much but still like estate sales. Things are hard to find now and I don't really need anything. Happy to see the sheep, they look thinner without all their wool.

I enjoyed seeing your treasures and your candle holder is Beautiful as is your stove !!! I’ve changed some and have come to love primitives. So many places we’ve visited have closed which is sad. Auctions make me anxious - love to thrift . An area antique mall has lots of crafts and glass and what they do have thats good is way too expensive. It’s wonderful to see the season change and all it brings. Enjoy !!!

I have always found good buys at the fleatiques in Western PA. Now that I re-sell most go to the shop. Early in my marriage (40+) years ago I kept most of my finds for myself. I have always loved early pieces and changed up things throughout the years with better quality pieces. Although I do find some bargains at the antique shops, most are smalls that go to the shop. The really quality country pieces are pricey but now I am in a better position financially to make a purchase. I have bought several wonderful pieces at antique shows after careful negotiation. BTW every trip Hubby and I go on is sure to include a stop at an antique shop or two or three or how many every he can tolerate. HA

We drove cross country, from California to PA, and we stopped in antique shops just about everywhere we went and found some great things…two rocking horses in CA, candle molds in AZ, redware in New Mexico, hanging shelf in Ohio. Can’t forget the many, many shops we visited from Maine to FL, OH, MI. My uncle was an auctioneer so we got our first piece from him. And we can’t forget the many, many shows we went to in PA and Ohio. Not only did we make great purchases but we made even better memories with the many people we met and the friends we made….like Audrey and Dave!❤️😁

I was living in Colorado when I attended my first farm auction. and only had about $20 to spend. I found a huge cardboard box full of mostly junk, but it also contained a large wooden box which, upon lifting the lid, I found to be a marvelous old "Barteldes Seed Company" seed box with the beautiful lithographed label completely intact and marvelous. I was so excited I quickly snapped the lid down and was convinced EVERYONE would be bidding on this. When the bidding began, I started with 50 cents and I was so nervous, I kept outbidding myself in 50 cent increments! No one else was even bidding on it. I ended up paying $1.50 for that box, and still have it 40 years later. I still laugh every time I look at this box.
I love those Heinz firkins, I have never seen any like that; I collect the Heinz crocks with labels. I think Facebook Marketplace is a great place to find unusual antiques these days. Also, I can't tell you how many small treasures I find on Ebay; I just found a small toy wheelbarrow about 6 " long, 1920's, you would love it Audrey. We have the same taste.

I have been finding more antique primitive/country items in thrift stores in the last five years. And I am sure it is because as my generation ( I am in my seventies) is passing, the children and grandchildren are just getting rid of their parents “stuff”. They don’t value the same things and often do not know how to sell those items. It’s easier to utilize thrift stores. I have also noticed Victorian antiques are becoming popular again. Younger generations are using them in farmhouse style decor. However, they often paint, stencil, restyle the pieces we would never have touched, except with furniture wax. I see them in many antique/vintage malls. I enjoy malls, if they are not too large. Antique stores are still my favorite. I always check yard sales. Estate sales make me sad, so I avoid those. Of course, I am supposed to be getting rid of things. Who made that rule?😊
