I remember when my dad was looking for a job (circa 2011), he ended up in a mall for something, and there was this kiosk selling actual LEGO mini figures from all years and themes, and he took pictures to show me. And he told me “I saw a Fawkes there. It cost $50 for that one piece”. It blew my little 8 year old mind. So it was cool seeing it here.
@Obi-Wan Kenobi I think if you really want it, it'd probably be worth it. For me in the states, it's about $18 (14 pounds), so it sounds like a good deal
I have this set, it's no longer built and those glow in the dark daggers are gone, but those big brick like baseplates have been so incredibly useful over the 16 years I've had them, especially as all you need is a support in each corner and it's instantly a sturdy ceiling, unlike plates, where you need to do all sorts of complex things to keep it supported.
Anyone else remember when the Basilisk shows up out of nowhere as a boss fight in the Lego Indiana Jones Video Game?

There’s a rumor that it will in summer 2019, along with Diagon Alley, and the Room of Requirement.
I hope LEGO does new sets like these that actually connect and add on to the 2018 Hogwarts.

I hope this set does get some sort of remake, because it is cool. My only problem was the hair piece they chose for Tom Riddle's hair, it just doesn't feel right and I would have gave him the hair piece he had In the years 1-4 video game. But aside from that minor issue, the set is fantastic.

I prefer the new logo basilisk, but I believe it needs a redesign for the new chamber set and must be bigger
Tom Riddle's hair is inaccurate. He should have a black version of Lockhart's hair.
That black hat is the Sorting hat.
I don't think they have that chrome sword mold anymore, though I would appreciate seeing a non-chrome version in some set.
I believe it was in a Lego castle set I own it so yeah (the not chrome version)

Such a good set. Way ahead of its time
The Basilisk in this set looks good, and is pretty good for movie accuracy, but the new one from the Great Hall set is more accurate to the books.
There's no tower missing. You're supposed to add the other sets on top of that one... As shown on the poster that you say you've seen a lot of times before. ;)
The new re-release of this is so much better. It’s cool to see the evolution of sets as time goes on.

Thank you so much for reviewing this set! I remember seeing a picture of the front of the box once years ago and being disapointed that I couldn't get a good look at the basilisk because of it's position. I would like to let you know that the audio on this video was regretably a little off. I had the volume on 100 and I was having some trouble hearing you, especially when compared to your other video's where I can hear you very well. Overall a fascinating set and a very good review!
This feniks looks really cool. It isn't printed, but it has lots of details, and it's much better than this from latest Hogwart from 2018. ;D

I could TOTALLY see Lego making a set with a new version of the Head build with the Basilisk coming out, and Harry, Ginny and Tom minifigs.

Hi, Just2good! Thanks for doing a review on the chamber of secrets, in my opinion, one of the best earlier years sets, i had this one, i can't wait to see what the new 2019 version will look like, the sand green basilisk was amazing because of the bigger parts :)

God those white daggers are soooooo useful
I REALLY wanted this set as a kid Xd recently purchased the basilisk on its own, only the fangs are missing but I'm sure I can find a replacement for them, or I'll hunt down the little daggers, I was...pretty disappointed to learn that the black thing in the Hogwarts set was supposed to be the basilisk, mean I thought it was a giant eel! Mostly because I recall in the sorcerers/philosopher stone GBC game you have to avoid these big eel creatures during the boat part. So I thought they had included an eel as a nod to that. But no, that is the basilisk.

I really like the Basilisk design, LEGO has already got two basilisks, one in the great hall set and one in this set.
How do you get all of these old sets? I really like those.
The face looks pretty creepy if you ask me.
I also like the stain glass bit, but the inside LEGO probably needs to work on a bit.

I don't think it's very fair to compare this basilisk and the 2018 one considering they're completely different scales. It'd be like comparing a ucs to a juniors set

I have a few random bricks in the colour of Gildroy Lockeheart, and I personally think its one of the most unpleasant colours to look at, I also can't think of an appropriate use of that colour either other than on minifigures
I wish Lego would make a basilisk that looks like the one from the video game
Its a set that would be very good nowadays just to change a couple of colors
I guess you could use the basalisks pieces for a dragon because the students in its mouth can have fire pit in it
I love this set and I hope to get it someday it is so awesome and I hope to get other cool sets like this that are kind of old. I am saving all my money for the Diagon alley set and I have a list of sets form 2001 -2010 that I hope I can get and you need to keep up the good work and let’s hope you reach 500k subscribers

The bricks mechanisms are GENIUS.
They probably would make another one but the Hogwarts set had the Basilisk. I need to save up for 2019 I just got 20$

perhaps that stud in the head was for a tongue and it did not work?
