Really looking forward to this series. Like Mike, my first army way back when was T'au, for similar reasons. I currently have a Death Guard army and al working on Black Templar, but for Xenos I'm definitely going FSE T'au.
Great overview. For starting tau I think the stealth suits and particularly the ghostkeel is not the easiest to get the best out of for a new player. I would recommend the start collecting box as a better start to the army. Looking forward to parts 2 & 3.
@@FrostFirevvx i think Lore wise it suits the book, especially for the relatively more rugged individualism of FSE. My FSE list has Farsight and an Enforcer Commander called Johnatan Richardson who gets civic lectures from Farsight - all the time.
Hi, Great Video. I started with Tau in 8 the edition, Has been a rough ride in battles I have had. Although I just love the Mechs/battlesuits. I'm a sucker for pulse rifles too, just ask Hicks. Quick question. I cannot get my head around the new rules for the Shield drones. How are they supposed to act now and be used now in this new codex? Is it.. I use the stratagem "savior protocol" and the shield drone just dies. If so, then what's the point of 4+ inv. and 2 wounds. No one is gonna shoot it, it cant be used to sit on any objective. Or do I use the stratagem and I then use the drones 4+ inv save? I Push the damage to the drone, if I roll 4+ inv drone is saved, I still have a drone for the next turn.. . If damage is only 1 and I fail the 4+ save, I still have the drone as it has 2 wounds? Thanks for your help on this. Great work on breakdown and advice to all new tau players.. For the greater good!
From how I understand it, since drones are now part of a unit, you can allocate hits to them as you normally would models in a unit, i.e. you can have the drone take the hits first. This is what makes the invuln and 2 wounds so nice. The savior protocols stratagem now is only needed if a drone is in a separate unit
They gave the for the great good rule to the ultra marines !! there was no reason to not leave it on the tau INF, there was no need to make to battles suits more powerful than they already were!!! like their are 2 different stratagems for drop zone clear and battle suits got the only way to get free overwatch!
Drone Spam! It's coming back! Lol, so, Stormsurge, Ghostkeel, Stealth Suits, and Pathfinders can take Drone Controller, which is no longer a +1 to hit. It makes a Drone unit have BS4+, and they can benefit from Markerlights and Mont'ka. So you could have a 10 Gun Drones and 2 Shield Drones in a Tactical Drone unit following a unit of Pathfinders; 40 shots, hitting on 3+, Str 5, AP-1, 1dmg. And the whole Tactical Squad is only 104pt, I believe.
With the titans battle report you see the tau player getting two cp back a turn was this wrong and abused? Still haven’t heard what the profile is for pulse long-rifles yet and what the drone pulse in the pathfinder team does?
Hey Leslie, I haven't had a chance to watch many other content creators T'au battle reports yet, so I don't exactly know what went on in the game. However, like we cover in a later segment, there is a relic that lets you regenerate CP spent on certain styles of stratagems or an Etheral ability that lets you gain an additional CP. And are you talking about the Longshot Pulse Rifle for Sniper Drones and the Pulse Accelerator Drone with Pathfinders?
Okay, I just wanted to make sure I tried to answer the right thing haha. Longshot Pulse Rifles are 48in Rapid 1 S5 Ap2 D1. Sniper Drones are now attached to a Firesight Marksman and you can only take 3 Drones. In the command phase, the Marksman makes the Sniper Drones hit on a 3+, allows them to ignore look out sir, and on 6s to wound do a mortal in addition to normal damage. The unit also can't be targeted unless they shooting unit is within 12in or they are the closest unit, but if you move you lose that Stealth field ability until the start of your next movement phase. The Pulse Accelerator Drone just adds 1ap to Pulse weapons in the pathfinder unit.
GW already put the recall out for vendors still selling the star collecting box so new players might find it almost impossible to find, I was lucky to find the last one still left for sale in my city because the owner ignored the recall but all the other stores I went to did send them back.
does the new +1 BS from markerlights stack ? so for example. i got 2 markerlights for one crisis ( BS 4+), does he get now a BS 2+ for this shooting phase on the targeted unit.
Unfortunately they don't stack. No matter how many marker lights are on the target, the shooting unit only uses and removes a single token to add 1 to the attack roll.
I love how even Tau players have no idea what people need to do to beat them lol. Tau: "Eeer yeah just try to survive the shooting phase?" Opponent: "How?" Tau:"Err roll really really well and pray?"
Good reviews from Tau players who knew their stuff. Sound and voice in this video is good as well which is a big plus point to this channel.
Thank you! Always trying to keep improving between each video 🙏🏼

Forgot to clarify the series being from a competitive angle! Our apologies.
@@BlackRabbitGaming From a competitive viewpoint the start collecting is a much better core to a competitive army that the patrol boxset.
For sure. (If you can find it)
hey Lio has a shirt with Mobile Infantry and TAu are guys in suits with jetpacks and missles!

I found it strange that the Ghostkeel has a drone controller standard, but doesn't come with drones.
@@GaiaDblade
Ghostkeel comes with 2 drones in the box. (Unless there was some older Ghostkeel boxes that didn’t come with 2?)

The Pulse Accelerator Drone just adds 1ap to Pulse weapons in the pathfinder unit.
So it’s still not an aura?
No, all the Drone abilities are limited to the Drone itself or to the unit they are attached to.
If you want to start an army and can find a start collecting Tau box, get it.
Absolutely.
GW already put the recall out for vendors still selling the star collecting box so new players might find it almost impossible to find, I was lucky to find the last one still left for sale in my city because the owner ignored the recall but all the other stores I went to did send them back.

holydowns
It counts as a +1 to hit, not a ballistics improvement. bonuses to hit don't stack, but they can offset penalties given my enemy abilities.
I love how even Tau players have no idea what people need to do to beat them lol. Tau: "Eeer yeah just try to survive the shooting phase?"

My strategy is hide and make my save rolls 🤣
