Aha i have that drum but never knew the brand because its not writen anything on the hardware.. I used mine as a tom for my Asba stainless steel kit (think i lost the lower section).
I think it's more a matter of the sound carrying over more than the presence of the thing, but in a typical pub sized room I think it does ok if you rimshot it.
