🎉 greetings from coastal Mississippi. I watched Guiding Light 1990 to series end. The last 2 years , when they went on permanent location and fleshed out Springfield Illinois, l truly enjoyed watching. When we allow the Lighthouse to shine within, then it can shine outward ❤
Maureen's death was one of the most traumatic and heartbreaking stories that ever happened. I believe that was part of the end of Guiding Light. The killing off of one of the most beloved characters on the show. I hated that story and Lillian Raines for well over two years.
These clips are great! If you have all of the episodes from over the years you should start a collection of them on youtube. That way GL will live on forever!
Of these, Maureen’s death is the stand out by far. Also the worst decision the show runners ever made. Of what’s not here, Roger’s dramatic return swinging through Blake’s church wedding, Blake seduces Ross during the blackout, Roger and Holly sleep together at the Cliff House after Roger saves Ed’s life, Reva runs off the bridge in the Florida Keys. I’m sure there are more. The early nineties were good years.
@@kimberlywhitehead22, Vanessa really GAVE it to her! She didn't slap her, but Vanessa had a way with words, that stung like a slap! LOL. I think the part that stands out most for me, was that even Roger grieved for Maureen. Holly wouldn't give his card to Ed. I remember Blake saying, "You KNOW Maureen was different (She didn't hate Roger, the way the rest of the town did, in other words)."
So Vanessa was upset that he fell in love with Bridget but she was bonking Bridget's brother Matt. Typical soap opera drama. Maureen's death blew me away. Once in awhile soaps throw in a unexpected death to rattle us
Wasn't Vinnie the one that made fun of Abby? Remember the time she went to I think the mall and asked for a pretzel but no mustard and this creep started laughing at her and making fun of her speaking like hearing impared people sound. Later on I think the poor girl had a nightmare about it.
it's crazy can't watch when they killed off Maureen 😥Peter Simon , Jerry verdorn , and some good female cast were underused just so they could ruin guiding light with the lewises , the cousins that married .
I couldn't stand the focus on Reva Shane and her sister. They lost the focus of good for families and characters. It became the Reva Shayne show starring is Reva Shayne and her sister Cassie and featuring their sickening kids
Guiding Light in the 90s was EVERYTHING!
It really was
Yes that was high light soaps history
and a bag of chips💯💯

Maureen's death was very memorable for me! I cried then and a little right now. Miss GL!
Pam that storyline tore me up!!! The show is never the same.
Was so stupid to kill her off.imo led to demise of show. It became the reva shane show. I couldnt stand it. Missed the Bauers and Reardons.
I was very upset and angry when they killed her off, too!
that horrible pit in your stomache feeling when Ed was told....you feel the loss.
Matt & Vanessa, after escaping the fire. The look on Bridget's face!!!

Wow...thanks...this was a golden time for GL
Maureen Bauer death was some of the best acting in soap opera history.. nothing has ever came close
Very memorable and GL was never the same
@@jmckinnon25 for the wrong reasons.
Dylan is Cloris Leachmans son in real life btw

Roger's return was in 89.
Everything else I agree with.
No thanks
Probably a good chunk of the Fans left after Maureen was killed off
Rest In Peace Maureen Bauer.
Chris Mc Evoy I was pissed they killed off Maureen and I wanted to slap Lillian and her raggedy guilty conscience

Vinnie looks like a young Tom Brady
No Reva and Annie stuff?

That guy was named Vinnie and he was the one who did a Racial Attack on David who was the Black Guy. David was only defending himself.
That he grabbed the wrong glass.
ALWAYS & FOREVER MAUREENS DEATH...🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
All but Maureen aren't all that memorable.
Maureen's death was the beginning of the end for GL.
I think the beginning of the end was a focus on the Shane's and Lewis's. The killing of Maureen was a big nail in the coffin.
I enjoyed these clips. However, I agree. I can think of clips with Roger and Holly or Alan Spalding that were more memorable

Vinnie did not make fun of Abby. Vinnie was killed before Abby got on the scene. You are thinking of Roy Meechem.
In '94, when Ed said he took his first drink in 13 years (1981), why did he last drink that time?
Dylan Shayne Lewis was a cool character
