Good analysis Locky. Its reassuring to see this squad gain strength. Many said without Gray, Summerville and Rutter we would struggle. We are stronger now than at this halfway point last season. I want to give a big shout out to our manager (many wont do this!!). As you say, he has worked on the combinations vertically - Bogle, James and Byrum, Rothwell, Solomon. He is also clearly behind the maturity in Aaronson. Brendon has had that all too familiar MLS/American lack of composure in the final 1/3. You only have to watch the USMNT to see how poor they are in this part of the game. Its why MLS is mostly a yawn to watch!! (I live there I can testify). It's just an American thing with the game. Brendon is growing in maturity, and I believe its the coaching that is doing that. Its great to see. I would like to see you do an analysis on how we rest the stars - James, Solomon, Byrum, etc. and bring in great players like Ramazani and Schmidt. I am worried Schmidt is not getting enough minutes for the business end of the season due to the strong performance of Byrum and Bogle, et. al.
I was impressed by Meslier in this game. Stoke set out to foul/hurt and bully Leeds, just like Millwall and Watford. They should have been down to 10 men by half time. My respect goes out to ALL the team as they carried on with their game plan. I was sad that Tanaka and Amps weren't starting together, but Rothwell had earned his place. The whole team played well. Good analysis Thank you.
My only worry is that when we don’t score early doors we can be vulnerable and it’s those games where we can lose points. Yesterday again we start off slow and almost get caught out, but we managed to score on half time and in fairness dominated the game overall. Every one from pundits to players and media say Leeds are by far the best squad, best individuals, best bench, so if we fail to go up there is only one man to blame. We must now go and try and put a gap behind us to 3rd place and there is no reason why we shouldn’t.
Cheers Locky, great summary. Someone is due a good hiding from Leeds, if we perform again like this and lift our finishing by 10% on Sunday, Derby are getting it. As noted some great performances, hat off to Piroe for some clinical finishing/positioning. Bogle, Solomon, James outstanding and thank goodness for the Meslier save in the first 5 mins! MOT.
I agree that Jaden Bogle was amazing last night, full of energy and inspirational. This team is just great, I missed Tanaka, although I didn't want to feel a reliance, but felt the game lost a bit of drive, but only a bit. Everyone worked well, so good to watch! Happy New Year, thank you for your great vids, always informative and enlightening!
One of your best post-match reviews yet, too bad your man Ao was not a starter. And rejoice: 🎉: Brenden the American Boy gets a well deserved top grade. You explain the CAM role better than most, people thinks anyone technical w good passing (i.e. a winger like Raphinha or Summerville) can play in there - in truth it's a different skill. As a winger (I've got a lower divisions union card) you only need to consider 180°-270° of the pitch. Playing a modern CAM is about 360° vision and great spacial awareness. this at speed as well. That was a very solid team performance with not a single player under par.
Just so you know I am not pulling your chain as far as learning stuff. I now know about linking up. Bogle, James Piroe as you pointed out which now leads me to Farke's press conference where he pointed out how James and Bogle work well however one must also have to work with others Byram etc and it makes sense with Byram, Aaronson and Piroe working as a unit. ENOUGH you'll turn me into an analyst. Keep up the good work, go back 12 months, watch one of your earlier videos, and compare it to your recent stuff. You have grown so much. LOVE IT!
Was saying last season Jp would score loads but for Cree and Gnonto they would always either pass to each other or shoot. We have much better Team players this season.
Locky, great stuff as usual, thanks for the insights Agreed on Meslier’s distro, thought it was notably better even in bad conditions. I thought dropping Tanaka for Amps was smart given Ao’s recent blip of unforced errors (something the gaffer acknowledged pre-game as well), but mostly as a break for the lad and getting Amps a full 90. Now we can rotate Rothwell/Ao/Amps to keep them fresh Curious how Gnonto & Largie get into the squad, not because they aren’t good enough, but simply hard to switch this winning front…probably see Manor dropped for one of them soon to give him a rest, his legs aren’t up for this load rest of season I figure
People slate Aaronson for lack of assists but tbf to him he’s played plenty of quality through balls in but Gnonto etc have missed big big chances! Otherwise Aaronsons assists would be a lot more id also say comparing to Rutter is not as straightforward Rutter had Summerville to finishes his assists this season we haven’t been as clinical as Summerville
Piroe is left footed predominantly so will always be stronger with crosses/passes coming in from the left, he can also go near post there as you'd like to see (it's not natural for him to do this from the right) Sadly we have no natural left footed player in the side who can provide for him. I really hoped Wober would get a run to do this. Aaronson finally linked up with him last night with an assist as you'd expect from a seasoned 10 not a rookie, hopefully the start of a new improved less is more Brendan staying much closer to Piroe. Everyone wants a Piroe who finishes as well as he does but works as hard as Joseph with the same athleticism. That player costs £50m+ and plays in the PL not the championship. Granted Stoke were another poor side but hopefully Farke has learned the benefit of getting Piroe on the ball more in these tight away matches.
Not sure who you drop for derby to reintrouce Tanaka, drop Rothwell and you lose your set piece potency, drop Aaronson to move Rothwell forward and you lose the number 10 impact that Aaronson brings, drop Rothwell and Solomon and start Ramazani to have a set piece guy and you lose James/Solomon pairing that have had such an impact, Farke will not drop Amapadu he made that clear in his Sky interview. I would be tempted to start the same 11 for derby as Stoke.
Hello 👋 Locky hope Christmas ⛄has gone well in your new 🏡 home 🙏 the save Meslier made was crucial for what happened next for Leeds fantastic win 2.0 clean sheet 🙌. Jayden Bogle for me his best display in a Leeds shirt 👕 so far absolutely unreal going forward he was fantastic 🙌🙏 with Dan James top notch 🙌🤩. Big call for Daniel Farke to drop Ao Tanaka 🇯🇵🎌 and put in Ethan Ampadu paid off got 90minutes on the park 🏞️ Daniel Farke has to rotate his squad second half of the season is crucial and matches come thick and fast I would of started Ao Tanaka 🇯🇵🎌 but I haven't a clue what I am talking about Ethan Ampadu worked well with big Joe Rothwell for me what bodes well is Ao Tanaka 🇯🇵🎌 Ethan Ampadu and Big Joe Rothwell can all play with each other and the key 🗝️ is understanding of each other depending who's on the park 🏞️ could you see all 3on the park 🏞️ at the same time Locky 🙏🤩. Chuffed to bits Joel Piroe scored two good goals again i would of started Matty Joseph Daniel Farke stook with Joel Piroe 🤩🙌 Manor Solomon for me proves the point we have a diamond 💎 too good for this league and some fan's saying send him back to Spurs FFS some folks need to give there heads a 🪇 Shake 😮. If this talented player was fit in Spurs 1st team and there results could be better Manor Solomon is going to play his part in our promotion push 🫸. For me whole team playing for each other the 👕 shirt a positive vibe I am getting from the team we do need a couple of bodies in January fingers 🤞 crossed 🙏At the end Leeds players walked towards the travelling 🧳 fan's Joel Piroe staying at the back not wanting the plaudits Mr Meslier pushed him forward to take a bowe utmost respect to Joel Piroe it's about his team mates and not him 🤝🙏🫶. Thanks Locky respect 🤝 Top man marching on together we all love Leeds keep fighting all Leeds aren't we 🦚🇮🇨🤍💛💙
Paul, the save Meslier made, had to be saved, I acknowlege that, but, it was hit straight at him, and was indicative of a team that are out of sorts, it was the kind of shot that a striker, lacking confience might make. It does Illan no harm at all to make that save, confience wise, glad it didn't turn into one of his howlers.
Good analysis Locky.

Re Aaronson his shooting his getting better could have had a couple from range

I love early doors
6 goals & 2 clean sheets !! Looks like normal service has been resumed !!

DJ size speed demeanor remains me of the great Rod Wallace your older Leeds members might remember him 😉
Bogle fabulous sooo quick
