Classic Game Room HD reviews YOSHI'S ISLAND for Super Nintendo SNES from 1995! Also known as Super Mario World 2, Yoshi's Island is an amazing 16-bit side scroller with incredibly deep gameplay with intelligent design that separates it from the normal side scroller. You play as a variety of Yoshis (I didn't know there was more than one!) who are trying to rescue baby Mario's twin brother Luigi! Luigi was kidnapped!? Amber Alert! Yoshis embark on the adventure of a lifetime through 40 some stages packed with hidden items, coins, flowers and bad guys. Jump, hop, run and eat enemies. After eating them Yoshi can turn them into eggs which he shoots at objects or just spit them out as projectiles. Very clever! While it may look like a children's game Yoshi's Island is much more. Amazing visuals, well produced music and gameplay that is miles ahead of most games makes this one a must play for fans of Mario games and side scrollers. This CGR review of Yoshi's Island has gameplay from the SNES game cartridge, Yoshi's Island showing game play from Super Nintendo in action during the review of Yoshi's Island, Super Mario World 2. - บันเทิง
what a beautiful game, lots of soul

Memories
fond memories playing this as a kid .. now my daughter is playing it and she loves it . .this is a timeless masterpiece
I feel bad for Salvo slime being so cute 2:50
Extreme nostalgia x2. That game is so adorable and sweet and excellently made and so many sweet childhood memories are involved.
The two Super Mario World games are easily, by far, the best games in the classic Mario era.
I'll take Yoshi's Island as my favourite of the two for a few things: the unique art style, outstanding graphics (even nowadays you are not seeing better-looking 2D games), the different playstyle to all other Mario games, and the fact it makes Yoshi everyone's favourite Mario character.
The first Super Mario World game is still great, though, but I rank it lower for it not being much more than a refined Super Mario Bros. 3
it surprises me how many people rank super mario world higher. yoshi's island has longer, more challenging levels, which gives it much higher replay value imo. smw is still a great game but it never amazed me the way yoshi's island still does to this day.
@@Jack_80 If you like playing as Mario in bigger 2D levels check out Mario Game, a phenomenal hack, one of my favorites. Very long but tons and tons of variety and nostalgia and the graphics are great.
Mario 3 is better than world
nostalgia trip, sigh i remember playing this at 10 years old, such simple times
The last boss fight still gives me goosebumps.
@TheRandomkid321 They never really explained that too greatly they are twins but you can hear him referred to as little brother also in the show and the movie. Its really really perplexing.
Luigi's name- Luigi Mario
Mario's name- Mario Mario
Favorite mario game.
I remember in the 6th grade one of my friends bringing a Nintendo magazine to school and there was a whole review on this game and it was coming soon to Australia. My mate and I were very pumped!! My parents bought me the game as soon as it was released and I was amazed!! This game is up there for me as the greatest game of all time!
One of the best games ever.
One of the most amazing things about this game was a feeling of ambiance in every level. You truly felt you were on a massive adventure as the Yoshis all tag-teamed to save both babies. Every boss battle felt original and absolutely unique...and EPIC! The art and music absolutely sucked you in in a way few other games have. This is a rare game from ANY era.
I recently played this on emulator for the first time about a year ago and I was blown away how visually nice the art design is.
That would actually make a good College Humor or Dorkly Bits skit....
If the FBI were involved in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Imagine the FBI taking Kamek into custody.
0:39 holy shit I was not ready for that LOL
I used to play this all the time as a kid and it is still one of my favorite games.
playing through this game again some months ago made me truly appreciate it
pure genius in every aspect
Yoshi's Island is one of the single greatest videogames EVER created. It blows my mind how many reviews I see where people say it is "good"... you may as well as call Ocarina of Time good in that case. This game is every bit as masterful as the original Super Mario World, and in many ways, more. The level design is brilliant, the control some of the tightest and most consistent ever achieved. The graphics were pushed to the limits of the SNES. The music is incredible. The challenge level and reward for skill is unmatched in the entire Mario universe. Shame on anyone who does not see a 100/100 game when it ever so rarely appears on the market.
I agree with you Brian. I remember got this game in christmas 95/96 I was a happy 6-7 old kid..The stage, story, enemies and the graphics... DEAM! wonderful

If anyone is interested and wants to see more of this kind of content. You see see my review on my channel. I am very happy to provide this content to like minded people, so check it out if you are interested. No links were put in so dislike bombing didn't occur and only Yoshi's Island fans would come to see the content.
I love how the music is super funky in this game
Charle Bronson + Yoshi= EPICNESS
This game on GBA was my childhood, I played it over and over again. By far one of my favorite games ever made.
I have the GBA remake and remember playing it a lot. You can never get tired of this game. Definitely one of my favourites.
I loved it when Sega and Nintendo were finally getting the most out of their 16 bit systems. I wish they would have supported them a little longer. Being a gamer in the 90's was awesome!
This is one of my favorite games of all time. I don't know how many hours I have played this game. I have beaten it, over and over. It really never loses it's charm. It has great levels and music, and it is just relaxing. Great Game!
ahh man you just brung back sooo many memories! i probly havent played this since i was 6 or 7 but i remember bits and peices of it like the flower ring at the end lol
Yoshi games always make me smile.
your intro to this game is EPIC
haha, loved your rendition of the intro. keep up the good work
I love the Game Over music. I'd just die to listen to that every once in a while lol.
I loved this game back then! The egg thing never made me think, I usually just ignored it, but after watching and remembering, it actually makes me think...
I absolutely love this game, I used to play this back when I was much younger and to this day, Seeing this review made me want to play through the entire thing.
My favourite platformer.
Dismissed it for so long as childish nonsense, but it's so brilliantly paced, and so addictive. Truly awesome.
Such an amazing platformer, you rock for reviewing it.
This brings memories, I played it when I was a small kid!
These really are the best reviewers online for games
This guy is such a boss. Great intro man.
You know, I may only be 14 years old, but I'll be damned if someone tells me I didn't grow up in the 90's. Rugrats, SNES, and PS1 were my life. Glad to see Mark is enjoying this game as much as I did.
I love running into those fuzzy things, too XD
I played this so much in my Childhood
Where are such Games today?
the best game ever made!!! its memorabilia!!!! an awsome antique!!!! i got this back in 1999 for my 5th birthday and even my father with an iraqy backround learned how to play this and we both loved it!!
All the childhood memories playing this game! Damn I want to beat the game again now.
Those Bonus stages you unlock after finishing the game 100% are absolutely brutal.
I'm glad you gave this a positive review, Mark, despite you not being the biggest SNES fan ever. I think this is a game that deserves the heaps of praise it gets and it shows you look at each game based on its individual merits, not where it came from. Thanks!
6:14 OMG I USED ALSO DIE LAUGHING AT THAT STAGE as well as my sister
this game. . .it brings back so many memories! i loved this game so much and i still do, i feel like a kid whenever i play this game and they dont make games like this anymore. i feel bad for the kids in the future cause they wont be able to experiance such awsome games :D
I love your work man.
Keep up the good work.
I agree most of the time with you too. You have a keen respect for the past and look at current games with more years of gaming experience than other reviewers.
This game brings back the memories..good times
Awesome review^^ I'm gonna have to pick this game up now.
One of the best examples of high art in video games.
I love how the game over screen is a blues piano riff.
Awesome platformer, fun bosses, some of Kondo’s best music compositions.
Loved Yoshi's Island as a kid, still love it now. And those gorgeous graphics. Love them. For my money the best graphics of the 16-bit era.
One of the best games I ever had! I remember how I loved to play this!
Jesus, gettin some serious nostalgia right here :)
I love how yoshi looks and acts high after touching those fuzzy white things.
one of my favorite video games, i spent a good chunk of my childhood playing this on the gba.
This game was and is still my life :3
Favourite game of all time!
Thanks for reviewing this. I got into SNES by accident, when my stepsister gotten PS and gave me her SNES like in 1997 (or 98). This one was my favorite game and I killed countless hours playing it with my cousins. I beat it, too. Also I had a mazazine (or guide that came with it), it was very helpful, had all maps, tips on how to get somewhere and how to kill enemies. But when my niece was pregnant I gave my SNES to her and that thing got broken...Thank god for emulation and hacked Wii!!!
Love that opening!
The first game I ever owned. Came with my super nintendo. Best gift ever.
Is it just me or does anyone else wanna cry when they hear that intro music it reminds me of the good old days. :P
For those of you who don't know, this game was originally released for the Super NES as Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. The game was later ported to the GameBoy Advance as Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. The game was then sequelized for the DS as Yoshi's Island DS.
Recently finally picked this game up, played it years ago, didn't care for it when it first came out. When I did play through it years later, I grew to like it, now I can play it anytime on my SNES.
I actually own this game and two snes's version one the big clunky one and version two the slimmer model no.2. I actually own this game several times over, two snes copies, many rom copies, one on my psp, one on my gba, one on my wii. As well as the sequel however i do think this was one of Nintendo's best games ever made. Few live up to the pick up and play style.
The final boss was the first final boss I ever saw in a videogame back then. And this fight started my love for games
I always loved this guys voice.
this game was fantastic back in the day, and honestly still is. i remember growing up with this game on my snes
Great review awesome narrating you are hilarious! Go Nintendo go Yoshi!
completely agree!! Always loved playing this @ a friend's house on his SNES, but I never owned it until it was ported to Gameboy Advance, still an addicting game forever :)
This is my favorite side scroller of all time
Very nice and fair game review. This game is so clever.
Show o hands who got Yoshi on GBA!?!
Lol. That'd be NOBODY then :-) Get a SNES.
Got it on GBA, and SNES, so I'm set.
Wow, even the game over screen looks nice.
I have this for my gameboy and this is awesome!
I will never forget the first time I reached the final boss. My friend and my little brother were watching me play late at night and we had the lights off and sound down so as to not wake anyone else in the house. I was not prepared for that final transformation. Easily my favorite moment in any SNES game ever.
Even though I now play this on my 3DS, it brings so much memories still. The gameplay, the music, the fun, god so much memories. games today now though, like Call of Duty, Halo, Online and DLC games, it's not gonna bring that "Oh the good old days" because THIS RIGHT HERE is real gaming, real Nintendo. Brings tears to my eyes...so much fun, such good memories and looking at crappy games now that kids play, its just horrible!
I absolutely LOVED this game as a Kid.
I had this for the Gameboy Advance when I was little. I would play it for hours on end, it was just something amazing and there really aren't many things like it. My favorite level is the skiing level though.
I just brought this game last Saturday and I have to say it looks fantastic! I have heard alot of positive responces towards this game and watching this I can understand why. Looking forward to playing it.
My younger cousin told me he got Modern Warfare 2, and then he recently told me he beat the game. The first thing that came to my mind, is that games took me weeks to beat back when I was his age. Games like Yoshi's Island would last me a really long time, but now we have games that the single player portion can be beat in a weekend or afternoon.
gotta love classicgameroom, its like a videogame time machine, certainly awesome
Man! I love this game ;) Great reveiw.
This is one of my top 10 favorite snes games I own.
Ahhh.....this game brings back memories :D
One of my favorites on SNES, great game and review.
This is some of the best video game music ever!
:D this brings back so many memories in my childhood! i loooved this game xD although i had it for the gameboy advance, still very good :)
One of the best Super Nintendo titles. The level with the hallucinagenic spores is my favorite
This game is an absolute classic, one of the best games on SNES...So many great memories. and the final bowser battle, everyone shat their pants the first time the wen thru that
Thanks for the great review, the last time I saw anything of this game was in an in store demo back when the game came out. I didn't have a SNES and it didn't look like the kind of game I'd like anyway. Now maybe I'll have to think about giving it a download on WiiWare!
Great Review!!!
my favorite boss was raphael the raven, loved the aesthetics and art of that level
one of the best games i've ever played. i used to play this game everyday.
I remember playing this as a kid. Good times, good times....
i like the popping sounds made with those egg things, kneet game!
6:55 the music at the 'Level Completed' screen is identical to the looping Xmas jingle from the later game 'Blue Stinger' on the Dreamcast - that's awesome.
This might well be the best game ever made... Extremely underappreciated! I'm glad it's getting some attention!
I had this for the GBA.
So awesome.
incredible game. no flaws. not a single flaw. difficulty is perfect. not too hard not too easy. controls are perfect. boss battles are fun and entertaining. graphics are beautiful. the music is incredible, especially the final boss music. the only thing that you can call bad is baby marios crying but no one said the sound must stay on :)
I totally agree with your. I enjoyed this game a lot. In fact, just watching your review got me in the mood for christmas cookies and chex mix (typical holiday fare here) for I know I played this game the most on christmas vacation! Now my children are enjoying it as well. On the flip side, I have always been a nintendo person (never owned a sega). I still have all the systems in working order. Go Yoshi!
i love this game, i still play is on my snes from time to time.
