      Exactly my thoughts: he looked more like a fire prince and she looked more like a water Princess, from the beginning. Unlike their respective parents, who had the 'right' colours. Maybe that symbolize their upcoming treason and attraction for the opposite elements they are supposed to represent?

    • @Moon-ep2bb
      @Moon-ep2bb 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I like to imagine that the fire princess was a manifestation for the love of water and the water prince was the manifestation of love for fire. Both “parents” conjured up beings, that as soon as they met each other, they began to fall in love with each other. It was almost as if the water king locked away the love of fire deep in the depths of his being. And the fire queen the same.

    cartoon writers of today should watch these old shows because back then ones like these were an example of QUALITY over quantity

      Well said, that is why children and teenagers of today don’t have good a heart, sense of love, respect and duties towards others.
      They are selfish, cos the have only watched cartoons that don’t teach them nothing plus social media that teaches them only how to be self centred, hateful and narcissistic.
      Only if they would watch cartoons/animation full of values, where you learn what it mean to love your friends, your family and your partner with all your heart and to fight for those who you love they would become less selfish.
      Thank God I have grew up with this types of animations and in my adult years I do still enjoy watch it.
      Even my own mother envies me for being a good hearted person, but I try to be kind to her too even if she thinks I am different from her and my brothers.
      I will never change for nobody no matter how selfish the people of this world have became, I will continue to fight for what I believe, respect others, nature, animals and God. ✌️❤️

    My father bought it for me in VHS when I was 5. That was in 1988. It taught me the power of forbidden love. It taught me about how two creatures from totally different worlds could easily fall in love when they broke free from the false stereo types and fears that their communities instilled in them. Its so sad but yet beautiful. I began sharing this movie with my two children earlier today.

    Remember as well as these characters being like people they are also personifications of fire (Sirius and his ocean dwellers) and water (Malta and her fire beings). So in translation they are not related in an family way but in an elemental way brother and sister is a reference to them being part of the same whole as a element. Moelle referred to the sprites of water and fire as brother and sister as well so it is not just the two lovers who are referenced. For example the sun and the moon as anthropomorphic characters could be called father and mother but they are still just celestial bodies. Hope I cleared this up a little.

That sometimes really happened, parents want to control, and sometimes they just control too much and lose their children. They could end together if their parents just had say, we are no agree with you, but it's your both live, so live your love, here or go away is up to you. Parents sometimes destroy their own children live trying to force them to do something that they don't want to do😭😭😭😭

    I don't know how but I saw this move back in the 80s in the Northwest Territories in Canada when I was under 4 years old and it traumatized the F out of me - it was so dark. I vividly remember the scene were Bibble is tempted and then sucked into the void prison of darkness and all hell breaks loose, and then the scene where he dies and pulls off his own horn as a final suicidal act in regret for betraying his friend. And for 4 decades I couldn't rmember the name of this film or anythign else about it - but just stumbled across the movie tonight and was like HOLY SHIT THIS IS IT!
    What a brutally sad, tragic movie. It reminds me a lot of both The Brave Frog and WIndaria in that way, just unrelenting, borderline traumatizing sadness, abuse, betrayal and loss.

    Anyone else notice that Sirius' hair was a fire red and Maltas was a light blue? And although I found the movie in general not bad, I found some of the things Malta said were totally weird. (I'll follow you always; and "You are always right" and " Oh Sirius! Your are sooo strong and brave!" or something along those lines)

I think when I first saw it, it was the first time i really contemplated death... and the possibility of life afterwards, which is why I never forgot the image of the girl carrying the boy into the sea and then both of them floating up into the sky.
