Hi there, TH-cam friends! Sorry for being away so long. I am back. I have several recipes recorded and I am editing as we speak. I would also like to apologize for the quality of this video... I was having some trouble with my editing software... not sure what is going on, and in the process, I think I made a bit of a mess... things WILL improve, so please do excuse the quality of this video... I will redo it in the future.... until then, enjoy the recipe... it truly is one of my family's favourites..
Hiya Pickles... hehehehe.. love the avatar name.. I am so glad you liked the recipe. Thank you for the kind words and the encouragement.. it is very nice to hear. :)
Those look FABULOUS!! Thanks for sharing your heritage with us. I’ll be trying these for sure. And I have an idea to make some little cheese/cherry strudels this same way! (German style!)
Guten tag Biouvskatz!! :) Thank you for the kind words.... and you are very welcome!! I would love to hear your thoughts after you make them. Try the spinach triangles - spanakopitakia, as well... both are VERY lecker... hahaha... I think the cheese and cherry strudels done this way will be lovely!! Good luck!!
Hi Jessica! I am so glad you enjoyed them... and I am even more glad your yiayia loved them as well... !!! Yup... I agree on the thickness of the phyllo... 2 is too few and 4 is too much.. haha 3 is Goldilocks! I do hope you try the spanakopitakia recipe as well... a bit more work, but Oh so worth it!! Take care!! 🥰
Hi Jill... yes, it can be done as a sheet pan or also as individual dinner sizes etc. This is the appetizer version. Mom also used to make a version with the same filling in homemade rustic phyllo (see my videos for that) and then rolled up streudel style and then baked. I will eventually make that recipe too. Take care! :)
Hi V... it is actually best to make them and freeze them before baking... so you can do this in advance. I have never made them and left them... not sure if the phyllo will hold up and not get dry and crumbly or soggy from the filling. I am 'guessing' they might be ok, but I cannot guarantee it. If you do try it and it works out ok, I'd love to hear about it. We have baked them right away, or frozen them. That is where my experience ends on this... sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck!! Kali orexi!!
Thank you for the comment... do realize that when you grate onion, your eyes will run, your nose will get stuffy etc. I apologize if it is off-putting as you said, however, that's reality in the kitchen at times... hahaha... I hope you try the recipe, sniffles aside... it is a very good version of these!!

My Mom made this but she filled a sheet pan rather then do individual pies. I am going to try your recipe. They looked so yummy.

Hi Joohee!! They really are.... :) You should try them.... you will love them, I am sure! Thank you for the comment.
Hello! Can I prepare them for baking it later at the end of the day or is this a problem because the butter is not melted then anymore?
Greetings!

I did watch it all but you should be aware that your sniffing is very audible and off putting. Thanks for the recipe
