This awesome, late-Romantic, Impressionist, pastoral Symphony is lush from the outset !!! It features great energy (e.g. Movement III - IV); brassy, triumphant passages (e.g. Movement I); delicate, quiet, constrained lyricism (e.g. Movement II); instrumental colors (e.g. Movement III - IV); and pleasant harmony and counterpoint throughout ! Fantastic introduction to the music of this composer !

Perhaps interesting to place this symphony: its premiere took place in Göteborg, Sweden, in 1922.
