Both parties absolutely at fault here. Kerley should’ve just gone in the other direction if they told him to however the officer with this footage should NOT have made physical contact with Kerley which resulted in an escalation. Kerley shouldn’t have resisted at all and settled it in court as the officers WERE too aggressive for no reason. The whole thing could have been avoided if both parties had stayed calm. The charges will most likely be dropped anyway, I just hope all those punches Kerley took don’t impact his 2025 athletics season.
@@Prometheus4096 No, you misunderstood my comment. I bet he was (extremely) strong. 😂 He’s one of the strongest American sprinters. Thank goodness for her. The police pushed him FIRST.
I don't know, first the police stops him, he wants to go passed her but she doesn't want him to come that close. Ok she makes a light contact, so what. Why are people so junpy about that...then she pushes him back and he becomes aggressive. Well there is one thing you do not do, and that is become aggressive against the police. No matter what.
That's what I saw too. If she had let him past am sure none of this would have happened. I have always suspected he was a bit of a hot head, listening to him talk previously he's got that confident swag which on the track etc is needed but he should be in control of himself more than what he was. All at fault here but they have messed with somebody who is famous so am sure there will be more to follow for all involved. Hope the cops are squeaky clean because their history is about to be probed.
Howcome US police is so incredibly unprofessional compared to cops in other countries? De-escalation should be in your blood and make it so much easier to deal with situations like this, but most importantly, it adds to trust.
I think you just have to follow a 6 month training in the US compared to a 2-4 year education here in my country.

Why is there no sound in the beginning
Are we surprised the police would exclude something that surely only further incriminates them?
Body cams take a few seconds to ‘boot up’, the audio recording comes a few seconds after the video once switched on. Assume it was turned on once he started gobbing off to the other cop
The sound begins when the body cam is turned on, everything without sound is prior to it being activated
@yadiyotamusplease don’t comment when you don’t know what you’re talking about
Body cam obtains a minute of footage before turned on as a precaution
He was between 2 police cars and as he tried to get move along which it appeared he had the right to do, another cop blocked his exit and instigated the physical altercation.
Solid summary. Policing in the US is a damn joke. The cop should not have stood in his way and sure as hell should not have put hands on him.

Fred is a friendly, humble kid and this is totally out of character for him. Wish that it hadn’t escalated as it did.
That lady made things so much worse with her yelling and dramatics - as for Kerley he needs to learn to keep his hands to himself especially if he is dealing with the police. In his defence and I guess it is true for many black people, they are aware of the racial profiling they get and how the police are often unfair on how they treat people. Not defending him, not that I could see what he did wrong, but I do get it and the racist issues are there and are real and should not be ignored. This video doesn't make me more weary about the police and I am white.
The big thing to remember when it comes to police. Never resist or interact with physical at any point. You can talk trash and tell them where to go but if they try start something physical don’t respond physically, just remind them about the lawsuit they going to face

It’d be nice to know what was said BEFORE anything escalated. I’m not even trying to back Kerley despite being an athletics fan, I just want to know what ACTUALLY causes the whole situation.
@AthleticsEditzwhen he got in the officers face at 12 sec is when the situation escalated. You can tell the officer asked him to back up, and he kept pushing forward in the officers face. That’s a pretty good way to end up in the ground and in handcuffs.
I’m tired of seeing these videos over and over. There was no police brutality here, just another intoxicated athlete that thinks they’re above the law. There is no deescalating when the police decide to arrest you, rightly or wrongly. If you resist, they just will use more force until they succeed.
Use of force IS deescalation.
I meant that cops should know how to deescalate. But I guess it's hard to squeeze that into their super short training course.

Racist assumption that black people need to "be trained" for police confrontation.

It operates on a 30 second loop with no audio. The audio doesn’t start until the officer hits record, then you get the previous 30 seconds video as well just without audio. It’s the way they are designed. There’s nothing untoward regarding this. The officer hits go as soon as the confrontation starts.
