Fijians didn't come from africa that was a made up story by colonizers. If we look at valid points like language, culture etc. Kaunitoni does not sound like an African word Fijians originate from Taiwan that was actual research done by historians cause there's a link in the language! Just cause Fijians are dark doesnt mean they come from africa, all of you saying that should learn the culture, language etc and you'll notice the huge difference, most of the oral history that is passed down doesnt even match what's written in our history books! Many colonizers and the Chiefs that were educated in the early days would alter the history and family tree in their favor to gain more power! Let's base our arguments of facts and not on fairy tales and skin colour

You've taken a lot of trouble to reply. Thank you. I agree with everything you said. The Africa theory is silly. I agree on Taiwan. I heard some indigenous Taiwanese singing the other day and it sounded Polynesian! Quite extraordinary!

Truer words have never been spoken! Good video and we can thank our Crown colonizers for fabricating stories about Fijian origins. We did not come from Africa the same way we did not reach Vuda first. More likely, we are from Asia, Taiwan specifically, as well as Indonesia (refer to the movement of language). If there was a more plausible explanation to the first landing spot on Fiji, it'll be the sand dunes area of Nadroga where Lapita pottery was found (these pottery date back as far back as 1600 BCE).

If you subscribe to the artificial separation of the Pasifika into the 3 ethnographic groups, then you naturally align to the myth of the African diaspora resulting in Melanesians (back then, it was foreign to associate rich melanin to the proximity to the equator). Genetically and linguistically, Fijians are not even close to Africa , rather, more to South East Asians, like all Pasifikas are). The Fijians came from Africa just like other race of people in Ancient times . There were more landmasses in those days compared to today as sea level was much below . Another thing they did not start there Journey on sailing ships but on land . Trekking from Africa into Asia until Southern Parts of Indian Subcontinent. From Africa to here it took not one but many generations . Later they made there sailing ships maybe somewhere there or down South Indonesia . There were landmasses connecting Indonesia, Indian subcontinent and towards Papua new guinea. There must have been also shallow waters hear and there connecting landmasses . Some Groups sailed while others just walked or waded through . Some Groups reached PNG , Vanuatu , others to New Coledonia, Solomon islands and rest to the Fiji Islands . There may have been several groups of people from Africa and become mixed up in this Great Journey . That's why Today Melanesian Groups look different from each other . For the Fijian groups some mixed up with the Polynesians much later . Remember all this Journey not from a single generation but several until they reached here what it is called The Fiji Islands. I support this theory coz there are still aboriginal people living in the Indian oceans . They are direct descendants of the original migration from Africa . There are several Indian tribes of Afro origin still living on Andaman Islands near Thailand . These groups still living in stone age as hunter gatherers and avoids western contact .So these groups descendants also migrated from Africa and ended up on those Islands . Maybe they did not went downwards but stayed on that place .One thing more those Islands are on direct path from which place the Ancestors of the Melanesians came from .
