I just started watching the Oxventure D&D games recently, and I had to look up this lovely Ellen person. Now here I am. This is a wonderful song, and she's very impressive here as well. She needs an album of her own. Best wishes to you too.
I watched a post from Ellen Rose's channel last night, and she referenced this song and "Keep Me Around." Had to listen to it. As I told Ellen, this is such a soulful song. It speaks so much about what some people may be feeling or thinking but never verbalized. For example, not everyone I know has any idea what I felt or thoughts I've had while dealing with depression on-and-off for 26 years now. It can also include discoveries made about oneself, like gender identity, sexual orientation, or finding out if you're able to love again. This song could definitely help folks understand they're not alone in what they're dealing with and, it's okay. This song also tells people, "Although I've recovered from the trauma of something, I'm still cautious of letting people in. Please go easy on me." I've listened to this song twice now within 13 hours. I think an official music video - live action, animated, or both - should be in the offing. Well done, Marc & Ellen!
This song's become an instant personal favourite. Simultaneously melancholy yet uplifting, bold yet cautious. I would never have found it if I wasn't already a fan of Ellen's work, but now I'm definitely going to check out the rest of the album too.
I absolutely adore this... the music, Ellen's vocals, everything, but especially the change when she sings "I've left unsaid." It's a very powerful change!
Ellen's voice works perfectly with the fantasy futuristic high pitched elements of the songs and the piano, feels like a modern-day mid tempo Disney song, love it
When you came here because you found out that Ellen sang something...and then you listen to it and it's better than most professional musicians! Absolutely incredible job!
It is deeply heartbreaking what she went through, even though I can only simply guess what actually happened. The depression she hides, the pain she hides, no normal person can see it and even those who have gone through stuff similar to her, even though they sometimes can’t even see it. But it’s her eyes, her eyes give away how much she’s dealing with. I want to just give her a hug and tell her everything will be OK.
I never thought I'd find a song that could actually resonate with my most common thought processes. And I know that it has probably got no real connection to my situation, but it feels nice to realise there are others like me. Healing is a hard, lonely process. And trust issues are hard to work past, but I'm getting there.
Chose to play this as my 1st song of 2019. Just magic, so beautifully carried by Ellen's voice (never thought she could sound better than giggling ridiculously on Oxtra, but WOW!) with music that completely flows with the tone of the lyrics (which were my favourite part). So good.
This is a great and wonderful song. Great job Marc Straight and Ellen Rose! Ellen has a great tone of voice that really suits well with the emotions of the song! Keep up the great work you two! #ellenrose #marcstraight #letyouin #iamheaven
Think it's established we all love Ellen, she's pretty amazing. It's often the ones like Ellen who smile the most who also struggle the most as well. Just listened to your album and enjoyed it, and all the other artists are great too. Keep up the good work, shame your music isn't more known though. Like Lillies of Slumber and End of Line as well.
A beautiful song with Ellen absolutely crushing that performance! I wholeheartedly believed she felt something when she sang that. A stunning combination of powerful lyrics and heartbreaking musical accompaniment makes me just want to cry.
Wow. I didn't expect this song to speak to me like this when I came here. Just wanted to hear Ellen sing. This track is beautiful and hurtful at the same time. Damn.
You and Ellen are fantastic. Ellen's fantastic and expressive singing voice paired with your music and writing skills make this an amazing song that I've listened to countless times.
Holy Freaking Crap! This is AMAZING!! I'm a huge fan of your work because of Vaativyadi, and I'm a huge fan of OutsideXtra! It's really cool seeing some of my favorite artists working together to make such great things!
That is so cool! Thanks for your support - it's incredibly rad to know that people from when Souls and Blood came out still enjoy the new direction my music has had.
Great job, Marc and Ellen (and anyone I don't know about). Music and vocals were excellent and wonderfully complimentary. This will definitely be on a heavy rotation on my playlist for the foreseeable future.
Ellen send me here. I usually listen to some heavy stuff like Marduk, Mayhem and Cannibal Corpse but i must admit that this song is pretty goddamn great. Never thought that Ellen had this kind of singingvoice. I am impressed
That's rad that we were able to connect with you even though it's not what you normally like. I listen to a lot of metal too so I understand it's a big jump but I'm glad you dig it!
Wow. Just. Wow. I can tell Ellen really resonates with the lyrics extremely well. Bravo to the both of you! My only regret is I wish I had discovered this sooner.
So I first saw this because it appeared in my Discover Weekly on Spotiy and then I saw Ellens vlog mentioning it and its been on repeat pretty much ever since lol wanted to come to YT to leave a comment on how amazing the music is and how toughing I find Ellens lyrics! Keep it up Marc! you're awesome!

Life is not always easy, painful things happen to everyone, but remembering to keep a positive mental attitude can be a huge help in getting through those difficult times. This song has definitely helped me, that makes all the time and effort Ellen and Marc put into this song worth it in my book. Thank you.
don't mean to be rude but not sure if these lyrics are fully accurate, most of it looks right to me but a few lines like the line "But I am not a maid and you need to come and say it" to me sounds more like "I am not a maiden you need to come and save"
@@Icam_here It's ok it's not rude, your allowed to voice your opinion, you may well be right, I wrote what I heard, I could have misheard that part. If anything I would class my hearing as below average. I you want a laugh, there's a channel called misheard lyrics, usually involving more heavy music and harsh vocals, the funny part is once you mishear the lyrics in some of the songs they feature, you can't un-hear the incorrect lyrics. 10 years on and I still hear BOAT, RUDDER, STRANGE MOUNTAIN in Trivium's song PULL, HARDER, on the STRINGS of your MARTYR.

Seen a few of those misheard lyrics, they can mess you up good, I think it has something to do with people telling you how something sounds and then you are trying to hear it that to convince yourself its right

Lyrics for anyone who's interested
Let's just take this slow
Let’s just think this through
How can you trust someone when they can't trust you?
I learned that lesson and I learnt it well
So sorry if I don't fall under your spell
Want to be with me, want to hold my hand
But I’ve been through things that you'll never understand
Truth be told, I don't know myself
I'm not some book you can read straight off the shelf
I smile outside, but I'm cold within
Hide my sadness beneath a cheshire cat grin
You think I'm brave, but I'm far from fine
I lay a little story but I haven't got the time
’Cause I can’t let you in
I can't let you in my mind
I’m too afraid of what you'll find
And I can't let you in my head
To see the things I'd left unsaid
Once I let you in there is no getting out; once I let you in there is no getting, getting out, out
Once I let you in there is no getting out; once I let you in there is no getting, getting out, out
Once I let you in there is no getting out
Once I let you in there is no getting out
Once I let you in there is no getting out
Once I let you in there is no getting, getting out, out
I’ve lost my mind, I've cried everyday
Does it make you a bad person if you need to run away?
I fell apart, pulled myself back up
With a little bit of help and a whole lot of luck
I'm not quite fixed, though I have thick skin
There are still some things if I now weigh in
I build strong walls to hide behind
But they come like the fact that the world isn't kind
I have reached out, and I've been shut down
Wanted holes to open up, swallow me into the ground
I thought they were different, though they were unique
Turns out I was interchangable with girls who look like me
But I am not a maid and you need to come and say it
Not a problem to prefix, not your accolade
I just need time, I just need space
'Cause no one ever told you that life isn't a race
'Cause I can't let you in
I can't let you in my mind
I'm too afraid of what you'll find
And I can't let you in my head
To see the things I'd left unsaid
And I can't let you in my dreams
You might just spoil them with your schemes
No, I can't let you in my head
To see the dreams that are now dead
I found these lyrics to be extremely relatable, great job Ellen and Marc.
