Malik is wrong, yes. But Coach was NOOOOOOOT RIGHT. What is a coach supposed to do with talented troubled kids in their last straw but teach them? It doesn’t seem like anybody had actually calmly talked with Malik, not behind closed doors but on the field about “Hey, you don’t talk to me that way, you don’t talk to others that way, you may say your piece but you’re going to say it differently.” You might think he should already know this. The QB is an immature kid. You don't expect much from them. The coach is supposed to be leader and in control. What is he doing yelling and cursing and going at his player like that?

What is a coach supposed to do with talented troubled kids in their last straw but teach them? It doesn’t seem like anybody had actually calmly talked with Malik, not behind closed doors but on the field about “Hey, you don’t talk to me that way, you don’t talk to others that way, you may say your piece but you’re going to say it differently.” You might think he should already know this. But he’s a former 5-star playing at a JuCo. Maybe you shouldn’t just say “he’s a lost cause” and instead use your authority as the guy’s last shot to make it absolutely clear to him.
What you don’t do is act just as immature as they do. That’s a disservice. That right there probably ended Malik’s chances of making it back.
