I had to follow the instructions fully for success. You THINK that you can just remove the black plastic endcap to push forward the switch mechanism but, I was unable to get the switch seated without dismantling as instructed. DO NOT let the brushes get accidentally shoved in- I had one brush spring return to normal position while handling it and I like to never got it returned into place.

Save yourself the hassle. Take a really skinny screwdriver stick it inside the vent of the plastic housing. Push up the switch rail and drop the new switch in the hole. Keep pressure down on the new switch. Release the switch rail onto the new switch. Voila! Thanks for this video though. I would not have figured it out.

My Makita grinder is the 18v brushless. But it still has the thumb switch. Is that the same process, or is it different?

what is broken when the switch no longer works? Is it the hook that has broken off? Thankfully it broke with the switch in the ON position so I can still use it!!

Why loose front part? I just screw one bolt from back side, do like you showed on film and put old switch and get the new one. 15 second serwis😜

Hello, in my case when I turn the grinder on it works but if I press the switch again to turn it off it doesn't go back just stays stuck so I have to pry it off with a scredriver or something.
    How could I fix it?
    Thanks!

I have the opposite problem. Mine will switch on but when i lock it it just randomly pops back to off.
Did you find a way to fix it?

@@ryry7886 Hi, I actually was starting at a service / repair center of stanley black & decker at that moment.
I realized when your very situation ocured it was due to the switch´s button, the little paddle button you push to lock in the on position, it has like a small plastic hook underneath wich locks on a similar size notch in the body of the tool. After much use it wears off so it didn´t hold in place.
In my case it was due to the spring mechanismwhich may be a bit wear and lose of strencht to pull it back, if you experience that you can also try disassembling it and putting a bit amount of electronics lubricant, or simply WD 40 it works well too.Or replace the switch which on DeWalt tools was about $10 If I remember well.

load of BS no need to take the thing apart that much. Just taker the end cover off the push the switch mechanism forward on lift the button out. Replace it the same time.
