I have always wanted to do this and gave up because 'no way anyone actually does that/ has resources available' and watching your videos has inspired me to give it a try! I will have to watch these again when I get all the materials together.
Electrical engineer here, I’m so glad that you are using the tip tinner! Not only does it help with picking up solder, but if you tin the tip after use, it helps clean the flux residue off and helps prevent corrosion, helping your tips to last longer. I always tin the tip before I turn my iron off for the day. Love the video!
I work in medical device assembly soldering 8 hours a day and we don't do this, they also tell us to clean our tips with a wet rag... they are constantly having to be replaced and we always get in trouble for not taking care of them... like dude you're literally telling me to make this thing rusty and then get mad at me when it rusts 😭
I am a Tinsmith (Historical Interpreter) and your comment makes me happy. 🥰 Although I tend to use Soldering Coppers, the Great Grandpa of Soldering Irons. 😅👍🏻
Hey is the lead in the solder dangerous? Like, after I make the piece is it safe to have in my house? Cause I really want to do this but lead sounds scary to me
Right? I loved art but watching shorts like these got me into crochet! But there's people that are so talented and educated In what they do, its crazy!
I remember being taught how to solder in robotics. He was talking, yet focused, talkng about how the fumes were toxic jokingly, then he swore and realized he didnt put heatshrink on it
Glass craftsmen have my greatest respect. Your art is stunning and I never tire of filling my home with it. Keep up the beautiful work; a Michigan leatherworker
Are there different colors for the solder? I honestly think that would look much prettier with the copper color because of the orange against the blue creates a nice contrast.
Ahhh I’m so happy I found this video! I recently started jewelry soft soldering but my solder doesn’t run smoothly. Sometimes it even stuck onto the piece I was working on when I tried to go back over it. And I thought I either wasn’t applying enough flux or was applying too much but that didn’t seem to be it. So I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong because I haven’t seen many tutorials. And they never really gave a specific temperature to start with. Now I’m gonna order some of that cleaning stuff from the beginning and increase the temperature to see if that helps me out.
I took a beginner stained glass class, and I loved it! I can't wait to delve into this art form more. Your videos are very informative, and your pieces are beautiful - thank you!
So beautiful! Your work and videos have pushed me to take the step to try stained glass work.❤ I've worked with glass, made marbles and some other glass pieces, but sculpting with clay has always been my world. I started in highschool with large blocks of natural clay and just fell in love. I also work with oven bake and air dry clay, and I love carving bone dry clay, which was frowned upon back when I was a teenager because of the danger, but apparently it's a big thing now?
So inspirational! I admire stained glass pieces so much, just discovered your channel, and now I want to learn, even though I know your skill is making it look easier than it is! Thank you for sharing!! ❤ beautiful work!
I was taught how to solder in one of my mechanical engineering lab and u make it looks SO EASY like it takes a crazy amount of precision to make it look this smooth!!
I am terrified of heat tools. The way I used to feel about big things in water is the way I feel watching these things. Very pretty stained glass, though. & good work!
I've always loved stained glass windows/glass, so it's really refreshing that someone should take a keen interest helping to keep this skill alive. I love your work. Thank you, for sharing the video & your tips. 🔍
Soldering, in different forms has been around for approximately 4000 years or more. It used to be done with a big, clunky iron heated over fire repeatedly as it was used and cooled. Old school stained glass is done with "came" U or H shaped channels made of lead which encase the glass. Came is cut to fit the edges and spot soldered at the joints. The copper foil technique came about in the 1890s and is sometimes referred to as the Tiffany technique after its creator, Louis Comfort Tiffany. She is doing Tiffany style stained glass. This was not done in the middle ages.

The video above this one has all the tools needed! :)
I did it an art class a family hotel provided. It was part of the entertainment for teens I think. Got a cute little boat. Love it!
Please remember to use PPE! Especially if you sand the glass at all. Micro-glass is incredibly dangerous for lungs
Just use proper ventilation when soldering! I did it outside and still breathed in fumes. :’) I had to add a box fan as well.
I hope you enjoy your new hobby!!💖

This is such a wholesome crossover. 🥹
Just the tip!

I love these hyper specific niche areas of TH-cam
Everyone has a passion and some are more rare than others
My dad used to make frank Lloyd wright stained glass as a hobby. He would be in the garage after work for hours. Now I know what he was doing!
Yes. So interesting, and they motivate me to try different things I'd otherwise never think of doing.

"Why are we stuck together!"
"I'm afraid you've been foiled."
😂😂😁😁
i’m taking a glass class in school right now so it’s really helpful to see how to do things before learning from my teacher!
We Stan a safe queen using gloves!
Yes! I burned my finger on a soldering iron as a kid and I still remember it today. Better to be safe.
A tip that i’ve realized, If you raise the temperature of your solder, you tend to get smoother lines.
Mmmm, you do it soo smooth. I tried once and my ex's granny (the one teaching me) kept saying soldering is not painting, stop painting! 😅
It's really beautiful! My shaking hands could never
I also have shaky hands but I made this once and its really easy !

There aren’t different colors but copper patina can be applied after!
I thought the copper was beautiful also. Thanks for sharing!😊

Could you do a video on everything you need to start? I really wanna try doing stained glass now!
Yes! Currently editing a full video on supplies!
That's beautiful! ❤
Gorgeous work.❤
the way americans pronounce solder baffles me sm 😭
How do you pronounce it?
keep crying
@@fluffystuff500sol-der… the way it’s spelt
I'm not American and we say it the same way
Right?! It's like they're saying a completely different word. How they say "sauter" when it's pronounced sole-der
I have absolutely no business here but its just so calming and fascinating to watch
That is amazing work ❤ the skills you got to make that !!!
I thought it said: "How soldiers stained glass"
SO DID I THATS WHY I CLICKED 😂
The rose gold was pretty though.
I agree, but what I learnt from her vid is that copper tape isn't for the aesthetic, it acts like a glue to the solder.
Yeah the solder would not stick to the glass without the copper foil. I agree though it looked pretty on this piece 😍

it’s prettier with the gold before you solder it.
Fr
That's copper tape, it's like the glue for the solder.
You are magician 😍

Beautiful art deco style piece!
This is gorgeous and while I may never do this, I really appreciate your gift and you freely explaining the process to all of us 💖💖💖
I love your arrangement!

Solder✨️
Amazing thank you for sharing your talent. Your an inspiration to my 6 year old daughter
Precioso!!❤
This is soo cool
How did they do this in middle ages without a solder

That is so pretty, but I REALLY liked the copper colour at the begining...can you do copper coloured solder?
Incroyable ! Vraiment du beau travail 😎👍🏻
Обалденный результат!!!!❤
These are beautiful but also scary glasses are scary to me, how often do you injure yourself doing all these beautiful arts?
You'd be surprised how few times I cut, poke or burn myself doing stained glass. It's really not as hazardous as it looks.
Great technique
How prettty
Красотень, вы талантливы❤
Soldering always horrified me in wood tech.
Didn’t do it for GCSE.
