I actually wouldn’t drop that plug you might accidentally bend your electrode and not even know it till it’s starts missing and you will think it’s something else cause you just changed plugs. I would recommend using a plug specific socket with the rubber boot to hold the plug and you slowly lower it down while being careful not to bend your plug!

Was thinking the same thing, it might affect the gap when it falls in, he could have used the magnet and a flathead though
If you don’t have a magnet you can put the coil in there and it will take the spark plug out
