Why does everybody think Taylor is still a 19 year old girl singing country. Everybody grows up.
It's one of those things i can't explain it.
It’s something that happens if you don’t pay attention to them, which is no fault of his, he just didn’t get into her until now. Which is fine we accept all new fans :) time moves faster than we realize, it happens.
Everyone infantilizes her esp casuals and haters. I can’t stand it.
Like literally the girl sang about suic*de and covid yet people only think she sings country and about her love life
It's first impressions. Like if someone says Madonna, some people think "Material Girl", even though Madonna's had a big hit in every decade for decades. If the listener doesn't particularly like the artist's songs, the impression isn't replaced.
You can tell the age of a person from it. If the person is a bit younger, it will be a different song. Like for Madonna, maybe "True Blue".
Brains are very good at resisting revising an impression. Sadly, my brain is one of them. 😄
One of the most bullied celebrities who took that and turned all the 💩 into her super power.
Fact: in concerts, right before the high note, the crowd screams, "Take us to church, Taylor!" So, you're not alone :)
Love seeing people experience Taylor for the first time. For the record: this song is kinda satirical, many of the lyrics are making a parody of how the media portrays her as a love-crazy manipulator. Like "toying with them older guys" for example. Blank Space off of 1989 is along the same lines, written from the pov of the woman the media writes about because she reads it and thought "wow it'd be interesting to write a song from the point of view of someone who is actually like this."
Truth is, the cameras exploit her presence at the football games for an average of 25 seconds per game. You can look that up.
When other celebrities attend football games the cameras exploit their presence and mention their names too. Look that up too.
But everyone is in an outrage about Taylor Swift because she's a woman of power.
First of all. I want to applaud you for actively seeking out her music and giving her a chance, despite what you might have heard about her before. She really is an incredible performer and lyricist, which her haters would know nothing about because they don't care to. I've been a Swiftie since she was a 16 year old country artist, but I was only a couple years younger than her when her debut album came out. She has definitely grown throughout the years and reinvented herself multiple times. Her catalog of music is so diverse and she really taps into several different genres of music. Second. You picked a great song to react to for your first time listening to her. Don't Blame Me never made it to radio and was never a single. Many of her radio songs are typically harder for newbies to her music to get into, because they were so overplayed. The true gems are the ones that never got played on Radio, like Don't Blame Me. I'm not sure what style of music you typically gravitate toward, but if you want more bad-ass songs like this one, "Intro + Ready For It...?" from the Rep Tour is amazing. As is "I Did Something Bad". "Getaway Car" is a fan favorite from Reputation and is basically a giant metaphor. If you want something more emotional with amazing visuals and lyricism, I would recommend the short film for "All Too Well" (the 10 minute version). Glad you liked this performance. Hoping to see more!

Early in her career, I liked a few of her teen girl country songs. One evening I was at home and walked through the family room. My dad was watching "60 Minutes". They ran a segment on Taylor Swift. I stood and watched and learned that teenager Taylor Swift was not only primarily writing her songs, but also heavily involved in planning her concert stage and costumes. I was impressed and interested in where it would lead. I grew up primarily listening to pop and rock, so I was even more of a fan as she moved into young adult country/pop, then adult pop, adult pop/rock, adult indie folk, and back to adult pop.
(For years now) Taylor Swift is my favorite artist. To me, she has the hit writing ability of The Beatles, lyrical storytelling of Bruce Springsteen, music video cinematography of Michael Jackson, concert stamina of Bruce Springsteen, and concert production beyond anyone else.
Before I read about Taylor and listened to her music, my fav band was(and really still is)the Finnish Symphonic Metal band Nightwish. The song I've heard Taylor sing closest to Nightwish is 'Don't Blame Me'. If anyone cares to hear Nightwish, their Magnum Opus concert can be found here; Nightwish Live at Wacken Open Air, Wacken Germany 2013. One hour thirty minutes. Their lead singer is 6'1" Dutch Soprano Floor Jansen(11 years with the band). Their keyboardist and band director is Tuomas Holopainen.

In my opinion, she's the best. Her concerts are some of the best moments and memories I've had in my life. Her personality is quirky and fun and she''s so fun live. Also the reputation tour isn't on netflix anymore so im not sure where you can watch it, but I definitely recommend it! (but also the eras tour is coming to disney plus march 15th so its a must!)

Taylor's music has grown with her. A lot of people who don't listen to her do think of her like you did. Her music has always matched the age she was at when she wrote it. She's grown over the years and her music reflects that. Many of her songs are inspired by what happens in her real life. Not all of them are personal, but there are many that do take from personal stuff. I'm sure you've heard her songs over the years and didn't know it was her. She's also written songs for other artists.

Having been to a Taylor swift concert, I can tell you, somehow she makes you feel like she’s singing for you, even with 70k+ people there. Like it feels personal and intimate.

song is from the Reputation album; tabloids made lots of rude assumptions and comments about her ----- when she was a teen, she dated John Mayer (more than a decade older); later, turning 21, she dated Jake Gyllenhaal (over a decade older), and Calvin Harris. Her relationships tended to be short (around 3 to 6 months) but this is the same age as college sophpmores/juniors. She leaned into that persona the media created about her for several songs on her 1989 and Reputation albums, so the lyrics are a sort of satire on the media's constant harassment.

Kansas City mom here who fell down this rabbit hole (for obvious reasons #87) and discovered a smart woman who has been through some stuff and come back stronger for it. She is a business savvy poet who treats people like friends. Her movie about the Eras tour was made during a strike. In order to do this she paid everyone what the unions were asking for at the negotiating table. Out of her pocket.

Looks like #87 is not going to be a single guy much longer. Not getting married but, they both are looking at a future together. They both found disappointment while dating around and then Taylor came to KC for her concert and Travis was done. She met him for dinner one night in NYC and she was done.

BTW, I live in northern Illinois about an hour out of Chicago but, my hometown is KC. I have many fond memories of the city. I grew up in the Wonder Years pretty close to where the stadium is. A few blocks from what is now Walmart Super Center but, back then was the Blue Ridge Mall.

Reputation studio tour is really amazing, I recommend listening to more songs from that, she had a movie for a tour and it's really amazing.
This is the one of the best songs she performs live, so very good choice with starting with that. Some of her most popular songs are just mostly catchy, but there are many deeper cuts that can go really hard.
I really recommend Haunted, kinda similiar feeling with made to be performed live for me, probably best version it's from Speak Now World Tour. Though, keep in mind, this was her more than 10 years ago, so her voice is not as strong as in this performance, but still very well done

Cvteck I'm a recently converted Swifty also! The whole reputation tour got me to be honest, start from the start - which is intro + ready for it, and continue through the concert from there. One song that's not in the concert though, which is one of my favs, is End Game, ft future and ed Sheeran, just do the normal music vid for this one as there is no live for that one that I know of.

A few months ago, I was surprised to learn that some artists refuse to play in stadiums because of the poor acoustics.
Taylor Swift concerts have incredible sound systems. This Reputation Stadium Tour is as professional as it gets, including its filming.
part of that is getting the audio from the main boards from her audio engineers; and having the luxury in film editing of adjusting the level of audience noise and such. Additionally, for the Eras tour especially, she did some incredible work on the speaker systems used in the tour -- someone has a tour video tech analysis that went into how it all works that was cool.

You're into football -- the Reputation tour was filmed in Arlington; it was her first all - stadium tour, on her 6th album (two Grammy AOTY year wins, at that point). She has always been the driver for stage designers -- they have to work out how to do the show she has in her head ===== and the stages get bigger and more elaborate with each tour. Her current tour is the first since 2018 and Reputation, so very epic. It will be streaming on Disney + in March, so will be more available (beware copyright though.) Too bad Netflix's contract for the Rep Tour ended; in the film, they cut away to the guitarist for that solo. fwiw, several members of her band have been with her forever. The backup singers are called The Starlights after a song on Red (track 15 !!! she does looong albums!)

I was front row for this tour and went to several others including the Eras tour. Afterwards it feels like it lives in you for weeks. Honestly, it lives in you forever. While I do like her early stuff, people need to get that out of their mind, move past it and give her more recent music a shot. There’s a whole evolution lol. It’s insane once you start diving into not just the music but all the Easter eggs and how she interacts with people… holy crap.

"Don't Blame Me" is a great starting point to shatter preconceptions at the start of a Taylor Swift journey. It's adult pop/gospel/rock with attitude. When I first heard it, I thought it was most likely a cover of a Motown song I'd never heard before.
It reminds me of "Jesus Christ Superstar", so I'd love to hear a rock opera album from Taylor Swift.

And for me, personally, I really love watching men discover her music. You are about to enter into the world of feminine emotion. I’ve been watching you forever - mostly for John Farnham videos . I’m a full blown Swiftie however and I’ve never clicked on a reaction video so fast. Shes such a surprising talent. Mostly because a lot of folk underestimate her because they picture a teenager singing her big hit Love Story. She’s 34 now though, super smart and amazingly clever at penning lyrics. I suggest Intro+Ready For It and I Did Something Bad from the same Reputation tour. She has done Country, Pop, Rap, Indie….you name it Taylor can master it. I’m excited to witness your journey!!
People don’t get the hype until they hear or see the one song/performance that gets them. I’m surprised you got it on the first try. People are usually surprised by her, but it takes a few songs for them to really “get” her appeal. If you listen to rock, her live version of We Are Never Getting Back Together from Sydney is top tier!

We are never ever getting back together live from the 1989 tour is Superb! It is Nothing like the radio version. It is a Pop/Rock version. She is wearing all black leather and plays an electric guitar on it. It will show you a completely different side of Taylor than this excellent video did. I promise you will Love it and be Very Surprised!

She is shown on TV because she is the biggest popstar in the world today : biggest tour in history, biggest tour movie in history, #1 in streaming, #1 in cd and vinyl sales, biggest winner of AOTY grammys in history, Time person of the year and so on. Imagine Michael Jackson in a stadium 25 years ago or the Beatles 50 years ago, they wouldn't have shown them ? And yes, she writes her own songs, she plays guitar (including 12 string one) , banjo and piano, she directs her music videos, she's behind every artistic choice from record cover design to staging her performances and btw, yes, she can sing. This is the performance I always recommend for a first listen. People say she can't sing. Lol. Her live performances usually sound better than her recordings. Check out "I knew You Were Trouble" from the 1989 Tour. You've probably heard it somewhere. But, not how she does it live.
