Missing Teppo BAD in Buffalo. He's exactly the type of player this D needs and for these kids to learn from. I've been wishing he was still here for years. He was such an underrated part of those 05-06, 06-07 juggernaut Sabres teams.
Nice to hear as a Finn that mostly followed Flyers at the time. Niinimaa-Coffey was the top-2 then for me. I only saw Numminen in the olympics or the WC games. I had frankly no idea what a legend he was. 😃
I loved that old logo, not a fan of the new one they have now, saw a couple of games during Teemu's goal scoring rookie shattering record. Great player and a great human being.
That's ignorant and classless on your part, Sparta. These two are WINNIPEG legends, which means they're being honored for their playing days as WINNIPEG Jets and not Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes. Winnipeggers care about them and KNOW who they are. The same couldn't be said for Dale Hawerchuk when his number was retired by the Coyotes.. Hardly anyone knew or cared who he was during the ceremony, it was a sad sight to see. That wasn't the case with Teppo and Teemu. I live in Arizona and nobody cares about the team's past as the Jets, just as Jets fans don't care or want to hear about the Thrashers, so why upset the fanbase by honoring a player such as Kovalchuk who never played in Winnipeg and Jets fans have no connection to. Likewise it wouldn't make any sense for Arizona to retire Selanne's jersey since he never played a single second as a Coyote and their fans have no emotional connection to him, just like they didn't with Hawerchuk. Your comment is therefore invalid.
Who cares. It should be like the Cleveland Browns, they should carry their history. Nobody who cheers for the Jets has any respect for the Coyotes franchise.
well who cares its their history and they can take it, whos gonna stop them? no one, they can do what they want. some documents dont change their history.
Dale Hawerchuk never played for this current Jets franchise, and he's still in the Jets' HOF and has a statue. The original franchise might be flailing in AZ now, but all these players did play in Winnipeg. And that's what they remember. Teemu never played in AZ. Dale Hawerchuk never played in AZ. It's the reason why NBA great Gary Payton, who played most of his career as a Seattle Supersonic, doesn't want any ceremonies done in Oklahoma City, where the franchise relocated to. He did nothing in OKC. Most of his greatest moments came while he played in Seattle. When Seattle gets an NBA franchise back, he'll gladly welcome a ceremony.
Two of the nicest people on planet earth. Love these guys.

Damn! i didnt even realize Teppo was on the sabres in those years. Sabres were beasts in those seasons.
Teemu is 52 but looks like he could suit up tomorrow
He is definitely dyeing his hair... learnt in America. No Finnish man dyes his hair but like Ovi lets the gray show... That said he looks good.
@@johnj8069 How do you know any of this? Not that many 50 year olds have gray hair. And it's not that uncommon for finns to dye their hair.
@@johnj8069 Idk I dont think he is coloring his hair.
Meanwhile Phil Kessel's 35 and looks like he should have retired at least 10 years ago.

Good to see some recognition for Teppo.
Somewhere Jesse Pollock wasn’t able to continue no nut November.

"HELLO NUMMINEN!"
It’s so nice of the Jets to honor these Coyotes legends. Maybe next the jets honor one of their own greats like Ilya Kovalchuk.
Piss off.
Cultural Appropriation

So, do we call this a jersey retirement?
They never played for the franchise. 🧐

Not a Jersey Retirement.
