  • In October 2020, host Eric Huffman and the Maybe God team drove five hours north, to a sprawling ranch outside of Dallas, to spend the day with country music legend Randy Travis and his wife, Mary. Despite being one of the best-selling country artists of all time and a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, Randy's life has been anything but easy. Since 2013, he's been wheelchair-bound and unable to speak more than just a few words. Through it all, Randy and Mary have refused to give up hope. Watch Eric and Randy's full interview exclusively on our TH-cam channel.

I just finished listening to High Lonesome before catching this. I recently went through a pretty bad tbi & came to better understand the struggles people go through when they can’t effectively relay their thoughts and feelings to other. I’m guessing that’s weighed heavily on Randy. He’s definitely inspired a ton of people and seems to have found peace with Jesus. Having Mrs. Mary by his side truly is a blessing. May the Good Lord continue to watch over them.

This is absolutely AWESOME. Anyone who is worried about him ( because let’s face it when you love somebody it doesn’t matter WHY you love them; even if it is JUST because they sang some songs that have brought you out of massive depression, or helped you to relate to the way that you were feeling, or simply just showed you that they are awesome as a person And you love their voice !) well this video shows that he is still right there and still smiling . His life is most definitely harder than it was and he has his struggles; yet, it seems from what we just learned that Randy Travis always had some struggles in his life and that he did not grow up easy. He is an easy person to love and his fans will love him to his last breath and beyond. I wish that he would sing more because I’m sure that he loves to sing. And it doesn’t really matter to me , and I’m sure it doesn’t really matter to a lot of other people who love him , if his voice is not as strong or he misses words. He is Randy Travis ; the first singer who I learned to love when living in the American south . I know every word to all of his songs and for me his personality in his music was everything. There is an entire huge part of my life all wrapped up with his music. Mr. Randy Travis is a massive gift to so many of us and we love him - truly love him dearly . He took care of us with his music and we treasure him in return .

@Random Updates what a horse crap response. The dude isn’t even 70, he has made strides recovering thus far. He will recover enough to perform in an entertaining way. I’ve known older men with worse health who recovered from debilitating strokes enough to return to their previous activities and hobbies.

He sang "Amazing Grace" AFTER he had his stroke, so there's always hope! The part of your brain that affects SPEECH is separate from the part of your brain that allows you to SING...I'm serious! I had an uncle who had a severe stroke and never spoke again, however, he could sing, which was amazing.

I can't wait to hear your voice again, but more of the words and the passion you have shared with us over the years. Randy, I met you at Church in Maui, many years ago, and you were so kind. It was a moment I'll never forget. Today, I work with blind, people with challenges, and have raised funds for heart patients, and our first recipient is graduating next year at a deaf school in the Philippines. I'd love to connect as we have 2 IP's and one which I would love to work with you and donate all the proceeds for a charity of your choice. Love you Randy.

No excuse for mean and malicious fathers. They might not be able to control themselves at times when there's no one to hold them accountable, but they do indeed know better. The difference back then than now is they got away with being mean, well they can't do that anymore without major consequences. Them being raised rough is no excuse, it's still up to them to decide to do right or not, they STILL knew better. For the many who were mean by a bad raising, there's probably many more who wasn't mean from it. How I know this?... because I went thru probably worse than Randy did, and I despise the idea of being like them. I REFUSE to carry on generational curses, and I REFUSE to be a victim.
