Frank Ocean is one of the most beloved artists of his time. Nostalgia, Ultra, Channel Orange and Blonde, his 3 albums, are considered some of the best releases of the 2010s so far. The singer, songwriter and musician is widely considered a visionary artist, being responsible for some of the most boundary-pushing popular music to come out in decades. He’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in music like Kanye West and Jay-Z on Watch the Throne, Travis Scott, Tyler the Creator and many more. Before he became a musician he worked as a songwriter for years in Los Angeles, writing for Justin Bieber, Beyonce, John Legend and more. His early music was sample heavy and nostalgic, with lots of songs about the peace of childhood and a sense of fondness for his lost loves. His use of samples from Radiohead, MGMT, Eagles and Coldplay got him noticed for the extremely original use of samples in a hiphop/R&B setting. His later music is more original and off the beaten path, taking influence from many genres.
Frank is also famous for his reclusive persona. He rarely takes interviews and makes almost no public appearances between album releases.

Hooey we still don’t know anything more about him than we did before the Instagram went public
It's cause' he's a Scorpio
Tbh, I wouldnt call it "secretive", because I believe it's not OUR information to know. It's his life, hes just allowing us to enter into it, and we should appreciate that for what it's worth.

blond is esily one of the best album of this decade!!!
Neutrino 09 of all time
@@vastaguito wouldn't say all time
I'd say it's second to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Seigfried is probably one of my favourite songs of all time.
Zane Allsopp Idk about that, the smooth melodies really can’t match kanyes producing team and the substance of the beats where truly masterpieces, this is area where blond really lacks. Also though, the frank ocean vocals can match any album in my opinion, they sounded so authentic and it matched perfectly with the live instruments recorded. But in my opinion, with the amount of legendary artists creating such diverse songs such as runaway, mbdtf is easily my favourite album of all time
4 letters. TPAB.
I listen to Frank every single day. I have to listen at least one song. But every once and a while I have to close myself in my room and listen to blond from start to finish. I swear it heals your soul.
Alejandro Serrano this
Listen to his mixtape Endless. Only found on TH-cam. Listen to Marlow's playlist of it.

Man i swear im doing the same thing

Frank doesn’t need to open up on interviews he opens up on his songs

He's just like Lorde, just wants a low-key life while doing the things she loves. No paparazzi, no interviews, no touring, no loud af marketing, just the art. When the time comes for a new project to be shared to the world, she'll let everyone know so we can all listen, pay attention and adore (or hate) it. The statements, the sounds, the words, the compositions, that's what music and art boils down to in the end. The trick with it is to make it so it stands the test of time.

Not to mention he had a dope verse in ASAP Rocky’s TESTING album. The song Purity

Real smart, playing "Nights" when you spoke about his studio getting destroyed in the Hurricane
He could have played blue whale. "And my hometown flooded, wit just a lil bit of water.. but my shoes still muddy"
after trina hit i had to transfer campus
literally listening to that one right now
I play games while i Iisten to Frank ocean
That how i escape reality
the seigfried intro makes me so relaxed :)
:)
And then followed up with the beat switch up in nights... Heavenly
The opening to seigfried is like a warm comfy bed in the middle of a galaxy for my brain to rest on
luke shen his whole album is relaxing 😌
luke shen thats because Radiohead helped him with the strings
My opinion: Frank Ocean is the best artist period
Luciano Castillo VIDEO you are correct
PERIODTTT
So debatable that it would take millennia to get an answer too but I get you like Frank I do too and I respect that.

i feel like he’s hella underrated...
Sevay im always finding your comments everywhere in frank ocean videos 😆
karam Anis really frank ocean? I actually didn’t comment that much under videos about him, I’ve commented a lotta X videos lately. Sorry if I annoyed you tho😆
Sevay haha yea maybe x or maybe rocky’s songs? No didn’t annoy me i just remember u commenting on songs i love so I thought ur taste of music is sick like mine ;)
karam Anis yes! exactly! you’ve probably seen me under their videos because X and Rocky are my favorite artists😊 well all i can say is your taste in music is pretty sick then ;) been lookin for a friend with a similar taste my wholee life lol

I wonder if Frank ever watches or reads these videos, memes or articles about him. If he does, Frank Ocean I love you!!
i have a feeling frank ocean's music is meant for him, and the people closest to him. he realeases it because he needs to make a living and he also knows we're going through what he's going through. thank you frank ocean.
Man you making a video about Frank is like the best surprise there is
merry christmas boi
This is why I love frank as an artist but also as a person. I can identify with how he lives his life. It seems that he never feels the need to show and prove. He lives life on his own terms and he lets his art/work speak for itself. *patiently waits for next release*
Frank also has an album named Endless which was released on the same day as Blonde. He also has a collection of old works called the Lonny Breaux Collection which can be found online. xo
I feel like this video is barely scratching the surface of how enigmatic frank ocean is. From a live stream of building a staircase that went on for a week, to dropping random riddles and how could you not include endless? I feel like endless shows how much Frank has evolved as an artist over the years. Plus his magazine and the black friday sale, great presentation of information but there wasnt enough included in the video.
I really agree with the ending of the video. Like many, Frank is one of my most beloved artists but I'm in no rush to pick up his next album, he can take 10 years by all means. In an era where artists like Drake oversaturate the airwaves by dropping 50 songs a year, the fact that Frank takes his time is refreshing and a perfect antidote to our "gotta have it now now now" culture. XX
yes yes yes
What did we do to deserve frank?
•김정은 honestly
absolutely nothing
I came to discover Frank so late. blonde was and is one of the most special albums of my own music journey, it struck chords with me that I haven't felt before and guided me through a breakup in a way I can say was graceful. This guy is a genius.
i love how frank is so secret, comes back with a new album and keeps his life private whilst being a beautiful artist
Thanks for sharing this man. You always impress me with you after effects magic ✨ Let's do a collab soon.
Yay to a collab!
As a fan, that would.be great
YES
Endlessness is pretty overlooked it’s probably my favorite album
Such a G. If everyone lived in such a way rather than being caught up in a social media battle for likes, I feel like we would have evolved out of the current human condition.
something occurred to me while watching this, we worship other people too much
Gabriela Heinze I think you’re right
Gee , You think???!???!
only problem I had with the video was that you didn’t touch or talk about Boys don’t cry/Endless but other than that I loved it
Pub Pub also didn’t mention his feature on TESTING
You mean TESTING's feature on Purity?
Jason King yeah
I loved endless and was a bit sad he didn’t mention it. Fun fact I had a free 3 month Apple Music thing and I used it and found endless on there to my surprise I used to only use Spotify and now I have a subscription to Apple Music so I can keep listening to endless
Also Slide by Calvin Harris ft Frank Ocean & Migos
Frank Ocean >The Weeknd dont @ me
Dylan Castano Of course.
You’ve gotta say something controversial to “don’t @ me.”
The most controversial parts of that statement were the lack of an apostrophe and bad formatting around the greater than symbol.
Of cpurse
Nobody with taste will dispute that. Artists like the weeknd, drake and bruno mars are just shallow and sweet sounding but Frank’s music is deep and intimate, it’s like comparing mcdonalds to fine dining.
Facts
The fact that you didn’t mention Endless.
He did now on another video :D
You're listening to blonded los santos
Nothing better than subscribing to a channel and having them upload the next day
He’s one of those artists that even though I’ve played their albums 10484020828284 times, I could still listen to it enjoy it, not get tired of it, and sometimes get a new perspective on it. I can wait. Take your time Frank. I’ll continue my life as you do.
In a world where you can rarely have any intimate and private moments as a famous person, it's so refreshing to have a person like Frank willing to defend his privacy and show that people need to respect boundaries and respect these people's right to privacy.
I really like frank because he does whatever he feels like doing. You can tell that he genuine and not in the music industry for money.
Exactly. He not doing shit for the fame and fortune, just pure passion for the art
ITS BEEN 5 YEARS BRO I WAS 13 NOW IM 18 HE NEEDS TO DROP 😭
hes so perfect and his music gives me life. hes so unproblematic and hands down my favorite artist.
I appreciate artists like this. Even though I am not a fan. His insistence on devoting himself to the art rather than the public image or wanting to seem cool is admirable. In a society where the feeling of relatability and being with a group is stronger than ever, it's probably hard to keep to yourslef. Props to him.
"In this vast *ocean* of controversy"
Ah I see what you did there!!
Congrats on the ridiculous amount of views you are about to receive.
Frank, Mac Miller, J. Cole. The goats of today’s rap music

Bro Frank isn’t even a rapper why do people bring him up in these topics
Frank ain’t even a rapper tho
its almost 2021 i await the next album still

To be honest I think it is unfair to show Ameer Vann when talking about 'misusing their status' for sexual favours. He did what he allegedly did before he was even somewhat famous.
Tom Galesloot and huge emphasis on allegedly
AMEER DID NOTHING WRONG
let’s make it clear that he was ALLEGEDLY being *toxic* in relationships in his *teen years* cry me a river #freeameer
Yeah that ruined the video for me
@Tiago Lol that's weak man
Dude your so underrated your videos are also pretty well produced great job once again man
thanks so much bro !!
LOVE the video. Frank is by far one of my favourite solo artists, and though i stumbled here through autoplay, i stayed for the whole video.
the next 2 years are almost over... hoping it comes soon. RIP ryan breaux
Frank Ocean is literally everything his music is deep and almost so deep its hard to understand but that's what draws me in its just amazing
He`s my favorite artist of all time.
this is an incredibly done video. thank you for this
This is so true. I recently listened to his works and now I can’t put it down. He talks to you in a personal level thru his music. 🖤🖤🖤
A Psychologist I watch frequently, said something along the lines of "Art is to culture what dreams are to the human psyche. You don't know what a dream is about because it just is. If someone is telling you what their art means, its not really art, its an agenda." I think that is why Frank is so god tier when it comes to music. He just puts what he feels into it. He isn't trying to tell you something, he is just letting you experience the music yourself.
I love how frank is not overrated nor underrated he's just there for the people who enjoys such vibes ✨
This is amazing and the sound editing / production is phenomenal
great job! I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation on our beloved Frank Ocean
This was very well done and taught me lots about Frank, thanks!
It's amazing how he's able to build his career on quality and not quantity as many successful artists seem to do nowadays.
He comes across as very genuine and deep which is respectable and a great example for young people to follow in a world where the vast majority of folks live their lives in proud display on social media, which breeds superficial lifestyles.
Instead I like to think, after seeing this, that he lives a very full and rich life full of elaborate relationships, and the glimpses he gives us into it through his music are the refined highlights (both good and bad), that we find ourselves relating to and discovering deep emotions within ourselves that we had previously missed or not expressed because we've been too busy and caught up listening to the same repackaged, formulaic, and under-stimulating music year after year.
Frank’s music is something u can still listen to 100 years from now
You made me want to check out his discography, just like you always do with this video series. Keep it up!
this was beautifully edited and thanks for reminding how blessed we are to have this gem!!
Goodness this channel is too good. Frank Ocean is such an important person and I love how he steers away from social media
This video was pretty sweet
ahhh i see what you did there lol
thank you bro, this video really put it into perspective, much appreciated
thank you so much for this amazing video!!!! i’m starting to really become a big fan of his and this vid helped me a lot:)
Does anyone else prefer Channel Orange over Blonde? I understand the intricacy of Blonde most people love but Channel Orange is just a musical masterpiece to me, my favourite example of R&B ever and the themes regarding romance and sexuality are beautifully metaphorical.
I do and nostalgia ultra over blonde too weirdly, and I heard blonde first as I'm a late discoverer. Maybe I just really like bad religion
I just love him in all the possible ways, such an inspiration
you did great on this video man much love
Great video, ive been following frank for years and his mind and creativity astonishes me, best artist on my playlist.
_your editing skills, teach me your ways._
I still listen to night and seigefried everyday like it's my first time hearing it
You make the most articulate hip hop videos on TH-cam by a long shot, gives us a new perspective on all of our favourite artists and you deserve much more attention then you get
also the cinematography of this video and editing is giving me goosebumps
I’ve never been into most popular but I’m interested in this dude now. Mad respect for keeping up his privacy. It truly must be a blessing for him
Blonde is still one of my favorite albums of all time. It came out at the perfect time of my life, and in the perfect season. Most of my pictures on Instagram were taken while listening to this masterpiece.
Thank you for bringing this up, I have so much respect for him as an artist.
Blonde is honestly one of the best album of the decade and it singlehandedly turn me into a fan of his works.
God I adore these video essays, I'm not sure what does it but these just always entrap me, AND it's a frank ocean video essay? God damn I wish I could subscribe more
I just hate it that most of his lyrics go over my head while I’m vibing
M8, your editing is incredible, wow. One of the coolest, most unique editing styles on this entire site.
dude make more videos like this one , love them!
I don’t think we’re actually supposed to understand frank which is what I love about him. He’s so creative and secretive and his music is just superior, I can listen to him all day long and never get tired.
Also Tyler and frank have been friends waaaay before 2010... just saying 🤷♀️
hell yeah, this is a great video, thanks!
He'll always be my favourite artist, his music is so beautiful and vulnerable sometimes it hurts. His coming out letter also kinda changed my life.
bruh didn't even mention how frank finessed the ENTIRE MUSIC INDUSTRY with the endless/blonde release... the man disappeared bc he pocketed 20 million+ that would've went to his old label and beat the system - the first artist in history to do this
Why does no one every talk about Frank’s The Lonny Breux collection
YEAAAAAA i know right?!
No time. It's loooooooooooooong.
This is a very old comment but I agree. I can’t find much of it on TH-cam though
