Some Rap Songs is the embodiment of depression in music, to me. This is actually a very positive thing, it's a very healing listening. Dense, hazy, sleepwalking, the gritty production compliments his monotonous, dreamy voice so well.
It's just so wild to know that Earl started as an outlandish persona, but has become more and more intimate and personal in his subject matter over the years, while the trend for personas in hip-hop grew inversely. I never made that connection before this video.
