It was that or the nazis would have used it and continued using it without any kind of restraint. That fact in itself is the only reason Einstein lent his expertise to the project. Oppenheimer appealed to him in essence guilting him into it by pulling the “you being a German Jew yourself, you can’t take the risk of the nazis getting this technology first.” The second time he was asked as the first time he was approached he flatly declined because he wanted no part of creating a weapon capable of killin everyone on the planet. Shortly after he is quoted as saying “I know not what the weapons of World War III will be, but the weapons of WW4 will most definitely be sticks and rocks”

The first bomb dropped on Nagasaki was an implosion bomb composed of a sphere of explosives layered on a hollow sphere of plutonium 239 with a beryllium-polonium 220 core. When the explosives were detonated that forced the plutonium 239 sphere to compress into the beryllium-polonium 210 core causing the atoms of plutonium 239 to begin to split in a chain reaction causing other plutonium 239 atoms to split in a continuous exponential chain reaction resulting in a fission nuclear explosion.
The Hiroshima bomb was a gun type and used uranium 235 using conventional explosives to slam uranium 235 to stationary uranium 235 to trigger the fission Cain reaction.

Don't worry; how nuclear weapons work is somewhat common knowledge already (see Wikipedia). It's quite simple in theory, but not in practice. The difficult part utilizes thousands of centrifuges to isolate rare fissionable isotopes of uranium or plutonium. That's why only a few countries have a nuclear program.

There are two methods of making a nuclear bomb. One with Uranium, the other with Plutonium. The mechanics of the bomb with uranium is easier but difficult to collect enough U235 to make a viable bomb. But plutonium based bombs don't need as much to produce the same yield because the mechanics of it use implosion techniques which is more difficult to make. Notice how there is a tradeoff and you can tell which is more favorable by countries.

Oh, so that's how implosion explosions work
I've been trying to understand how supernova's ause a star to lose 75% of their mass yet the only way I could imagine that is a collapse to the core itself, though now I better realize that it's like who knows how much nuclear bombs going off

What my main question is, is that when Uranium reacts in this way it becomes the previous element in the periodic table until it reaches Lead...however what happens in Hydrogen bombs since there is no previous element and since matter cant be destroyed. Can anyone tell me this?

Fission does not convert uranium to lead. Decay does.
In hydrogen bombs, hydrogen is transmuted into helium.

If I *saw* the bomb coming I wouldn't hide because the radiation is a painful way to die I'd try to get as close to the blast as possible so I could die instantly
