Just watched this amazing and beautiful movie. My 17 year old younger sister wants to help orphans in China and this was right up her alley. ❤ Thanks for sharing
I sing nik nak paddy wak to my grandchildren and told them how a lady marched a bunch of kids to safety. Totally forgot about this heart warming movie . . .
I love Malcolm Arnold's score for this film as much as the film itself....I know they took a lot of liberties with Gladys Aylward's true story....but that's hollywood. Wonderful movie! Thank you. 😊
A gross distortion of Gladys life. Someone asked her if she had met either of the lead actors and she angrily said " worship God not man". He real life was much more exciting and interesting. Why couldnt they for once tell the true story? ( Her real etc pls read).
Holly wood always mucks up a Christian story with its glam. Actors were too filled with being famous instead of being real. Something they lack in what actors are like now. They truly did not capture the real Gladys. They changed too many things too.
Every generation going back for centuries prides itself on a more realistic acting style than its predecessors. And every generation deceives itself. The styles change but the "reality" - the capture of a character's essence - doesn't.

It was filmed in North Wales. The children and extras were from Chinatown in Liverpool. They all had Liverpool accents.
