  • After years on the water and few more planning our trawler purchase we just received our 2024 Helmsman Trawlers 38E!
We will take you along for the journey aboard M/V We Are! as we explore "trawler life."
In this episode Greg throws off the lines and heads 130 miles north into North Carolina for some final commissioning before Alison joins him for their 10 day trip home to NYC!
In truth, we are still learning best editing / sound mixing techniques so we are favoring pushing these out regularly (in the less than awesome format) as we still develop our skills.
    Thanks for watching!
    Cheers,
    Greg and Alison

Beautiful boat! My parents had a 38E (Mariner Seville) called Navigator from 2009-2019, purchased in Sarasota and home ported in Soutwest Michigan. and the new owner just looped twice and the boat is for sale in Gulf Shores now. You are going to love it they are fantastic trawlers.

Hello ... I know your parent's trawler, Navigator! Small world.. the current owners are great folks I met and follow them on Instagram ... think it's @Helmsman38 if I'm not mistaken.
Thanks for the comment, hope all is well.

Nice video, congrats on the new trawler -- looks terrific. Hope you will do a video on the interior and engine room sometime.

That is exactly my next video... with the stabilizer installation complete I'm going to do an interior tour first, then engine room tour. Figure a few days away.. Thanks for watching!

Love the 38E, we are in the VERY early stages of planning for one. I am sure our paths will cross in the future as we get closer to our dream purchase! Thank you for sharing. I have a couple questions based on your video - Why did you have to travel for the swim platform install? What is the mercury gauge on your dash?

Hi Casey - shoot me an email to: gregmesserle@helmsmantrawlers.com and I can send you an email with some interesting videos on the 38E.
Typically the swim platform is installed right at Charleston as part of commissioning but I deferred the requesite haulout to perform that task in lieu of allowing the electronics, dingy and canvas teams to stay aboard and wrap up their important work. This is why we did a tow with the dingy up to the ICW which was quite uneventful. I'm just wrapping up our haulout now and things looks great. Good eye for catching that - I was hoping someone might ask!
The Mercury gauge is simply the device that displays the diesel engine specs I choose to monitor while underway such as RPMs, key temp / pressure readings and a range of customizable date sets based upon my preference. In my next video I'm going to do an exhaustive interior walk through.. just need to wrap up the current work.
Send me an email and I'll shoot you some interesting videos, etc.. it's fun to dream about this - I know first hand!
