Good to hear your review. Thank you for your time and effort to share this with us all. These headphones seem to punch above their weight and are a good buy. You mention gaming, how do these compare to the VZR?
Thanks so much! The VZR sounds very different for music, but in gaming, they are more precise sounding. The Model One is closer to a headphone that sounds like speakers, rather than just another headphone. These are still great headphones, but the Model One excels a bit in gaming alone.
Thanks for the info. Awesome comparison for a noob with the TYGR headphones and the hyperX clouds2. Just purchased an Fiio K11 and was looking to try out good but different headphones. Was going with the Closed back Sundara's given their current 150USD price since I wanted to replace the HyperX, but now I'm leaning heavily with to the Athena. Though I might also enjoy the Sivga SV021. (focus is no longer gaming because the TYGR has it covered)
What about versus dedicated gaming headsets though? Please include at least a quick bit about this versus the most popular gaming headsets or those in its price tier!
Hello Gadgetry Tech still have my VZR ONE headphones and love them do you recommend anything new for fps gaming? Wired or wireless thank you.. For ps5 by the way...
amazing review, thinking to buy them. How do they compare in sound stage and sound detail with beyerdynamic 770 (or any of the 990, 700, 900 etc) ? Are their levels comparable or some is definitely better than the other? thank you
Is the Fiio FT3 on your radar? I have one showing up in a few days, and your mention of the semi-open qualities of the Athena made me think of that one. I have a Poseidon, but I don’t think it would make much of a gaming headset, aside from maybe for some fun/immersive games… Also would be really interested to see your thoughts on the Hifiman HE-R7DX. That one has a lot of potential as a gaming headphone with the closed back design, but soundstage characteristics of an open back… Also, thanks for the reviews. Really appreciate the reviews with a more gaming oriented viewpoint for audiophile products!
I haven't been able to try Fiio yet but I hope to work with them one day! I have the Hifiman HE-R9s I'm reviewing soon, but not the R7DX. That may change down the road though!
@@GadgetryTech Just got my FT3 and wow. Amazing sound and total package for $300 headphones. Beyond impressed. Highly recommend if you get a chance to get ahold of a pair. This bass extension in an open back headphone. So awesome. Maybe 60mm dynamic drivers should be the new norm...
meze 99 is great for metal heads due to its bass, the Athenas are great if you are looking for "neutral" headphones with slightly higher treble. if you are looking for alternatives for the Athena than look at akg k702, however the k702 have a very "accurate" bass, meaning it might be a bit to boring, however they have one of the best soundstage you can find in the price range of 100 to 200 $.
I really do enjoy the detail you put into real end user experience with the headphones you review
Thanks so much!

@GadgetryTech Thank you again so much for your reply. I am enjoying my VZR for Gaming, but the Athena sounds like good all-rounder headphones .
When Joe uploads it's a good day, or in my case late evening 😂
I wanted this to go live this morning but had just a little bit extra to finish at lunch time haha
@@GadgetryTech 😂 as long as you upload I'm happy! =)

Maxwell
Purely for FPS, the Model One is still a top pick

I’d be really interested to hear your opinions on the beyerdynamic dt900 pro x. It’s gotten amazing reviews for gaming from quite a few people.
Hopefully I have one some day! I have a lot of reviews coming out and haven't tried attaining more Beyer products but it's definitely on my list.
Another great review.....
How do these compare to the Sundaras and Zues elite did gaming and music
Wich do you think is better between the Maxwells and these for music? And wich one has better bass in terms of body, physicality and detail?

which have better sound for you for all media usage and relax this or meze 99?

Don't you think the angled drivers make everything sound from the front for gaming fps?
It's not angled so much that it drastically alters the stage. Due to the pad depth, I like having them slightly angled, as it sounds more natural.
